I don't think so, I'm pretty sure there were some mysteries left (not including characters).

Was it mentioned anywhere in this thread that there's a rumor floating around about Incineroar being cut last minute (from the starting roster) in favor of Banjo?

Just got that information from a thread and curious on where that rumor originated from.

I believe papagenos theorycrafted this because of some information he got from his source.

Honestly, if the Grinch Leak is fake, I won't really be upset, at long as we get at least one more female rep. Only having three (arguably four) female characters just doesn't seem like very much. I understand that this game presented through the male gaze (with primarily a male audience in mind), but if we have like 12 male characters and only 3 or 4 female characters I'm gonna...probably do absolutely nothing. But I mean, Smash 4 had (I think) seven female characters (either fully female or dual-gendered). So can we get, like, maybe just one or two more female/dual-gendered characters? That's not asking for too much, is it?

Congratulations to the people who are going to be getting their most wanted; good luck for the DLC season to Tails and Dovahkiin the characters who didn't make the cut this round.

I guess it'll be fun to see. I'll probably log off so I can watch it at some point Thursday. Hope we get to see a lot of fun single-player stuff. I'm about ready for the hype train to pick me back up.

That rumor is bad speculation. It's based on Phil Spencer having lunch with Nintendo at E3.

They wouldn't cut a nearly finished character in favor of another one. They'd just add the other one. This is people grasping at straws to try and legitimize the leak they want to believe over the leak they don't want to believe.

Polish-American anyway, But my grandparents and probably my mother as well were all born in Poland before coming to america during Soviet Occupation. Lived in Brooklyn for many years after. I'd worry about this being doxing myself but when i grew up in nyc this was the story for alot of people.

I didnt think so either, that's why i figured it wouldnt be so much 'cut' as 'moved' to being the first DLC character; like, instead of finishing Incineroar, they prioritized Banjo and figured they'd finish up Incineroar in time to be apart of the first wave of DLC.

I'm hoping that Lloyd will be revealed in the direct since he's the only character I want at this point. But if the rumors that's he's the Mewtwo of DLC, I would like that too. He'll probably would be released around January & February to coincide with Tales of Vesperia HD.

By Final Direct, do you mean the 50 Fact Presentation or the Overall final Presentation?

50 Fact we already knew Base Roster and the majority of game modes, that was just going over minor things (THERE'S A MICROPHONE!, etc.)

Final Presentation was for DLC and doesn't really count since we just wanted to know who won the ballot.

But three of those five newcomers were echoes. Richter got one minute dedicated to him, and Dark Samus and Chrom got around 2-3 minutes. Comparatively, Castlevania content got around 6 minutes 30 seconds dedicated to it. If we assume a similar amount of time will be dedicated to Geno and Banjo, That's already around 13 minutes taken up by two characters. At that point they've still got 3 more fighters and 2 more echoes to go.

Smash 4 Direct had a total of 39 minutes amd the only newcomer it announced was Greninja. Time isn't indicative to the number of reveals at all.

While I agree, don't compare Smash4 development cycle and reveal criteria to Smash Ultimate. It's like black & white.

Yeah, characters take years to balance, especially with a roster of this size (I don't know how they even managed it in less than 3 years). That being said, it's still a tiny bit interesting how Spencer referred to themselves as a third party and brought it up, even sorta hinting how it's an unusual occurrence in the way he laughed about it. Could have been for an update of Banjo in Smash or DLC talks, about a N64 classic, could have been Minecraft related, or not even business related. We'll have to wait and see.

I need it to make sure that Emily said specifics on the number of newcomers she apparently said were not in the poster. This rumor has been stated in the mimique discord, and I cannot find anything about it.

Nice! Well I’m fully Polish, I live in Warsaw. My grandma emigrated to NY for 20 years when my mom was a young adult, she’s back now tho.
It’s hard being a Nintendo fan here, It’s not nearly close to being as popular as XBox or PS. It’s getting better with the Switch era, but It’s slow progress, at least now Nintendo is always at Big Polish Conventions, that’s how I played Ultimate last weekend. (see, this wasn’t off topic)

If Ken and Incineroar have a shared trailer, like I think they will, then I say Little Mac and Ryu (little mac fights with Ryu, Ken helps Ryu, but then Incineroar does Malicious Moonsault on them)

The 'Grinch' banner presents itself as the following:

• The final Day 1 roster (not including future DLC)
• A portrait of *only* playable characters (no assist trophies included in the banner.)

Would a marketing firm forget to include multiple characters in a banner?
Would a marketing firm accidentally confuse an assist trophy for a playable character?

Just some food for thought.

I didn't like how she, among other insiders, keeps misrepresenting the arguments/assumptions of those who think it's real (it really does seem like it goes over their heads, the way they ignore it), but she is seemingly suggesting how some banner characters could be assists, but she might be parroting Mystic (who is not certain).
