I think it's plausible in certain respects. There are some, though, who claim to have been led to believe they know the full roster (though my objection is the admitted assumption, "led to believe"). Also, if Sakurai doesn't begin work on DLC until near completion, as has been said, I don't think Incineroar would be DLC having been worked on to the point that they're being playtested. It does make sense, though, why very few echoes would have been rumored.

The banner might have been created early in Smash Ultimate's development... but plans change...

What if what the insiders have seen is an old version of the banner that's way out of date? Like, "a year and a half out of date"out of date?

(I know, long shot. XD)

Here's the thing...

I sincerely doubt there's a banner v.1.0. They likely didn't get their marketing art people on the banner idea until the roster was finalized-- I don't mean finalized as in the roster plan, I mean the point in development when you know exactly how many characters you're going to ship at launch and who they are. Because actually drawing the banner would not take that much time once the idea was decided upon, and they would need to run the concept through multiple people in the bureaucratic ladder-- possibly even Sakurai-- before it was okayed as the promotional idea.

I very much doubt there was ever an early banner that was seen by anybody but the people who made it. Then, as the release strategy was finalized, they worked backwards from their banner's final form, with each character as a separate layer over top of the blank Battlefield backdrop, to make other banners to coincide with each announcement.

I just can't see a scenario where someone low enough on the food chain to want to leak this info would see a final banner that needed updated.

Y'all went and broke the old thread and I was still a month behind! Over 1,000 pages behind too. And to think there was a time that place moved 'slow' when the leak thread existed.

Anyway, catching up in the single digit pages of this thread for now so what exactly have I missed in all of October? I see mention of some 'Grinch leak' and the last stuff I saw last night was some talk of Mach Rider.

Well maybe insiders shouldn't bother leaking Smash to begin with. Then no one would be able to complain about them. Also, "toxic" is such an overused buzzword. Why not use a different term every once in a while like "obnoxious" or "annoying"?

Then we end up complaining they aren't saying anything. Also not sure what else to call it. How we are seen goes past being obnoxious or annoying, it tends to be actively hateful and toxic as a term fits. *shrugs* Not everyone in the fandom is like that but it's big enough that the bad apples spread that image in a big way.

I completely forgot about the Skull Kid bit. People saw KOS-MOS in the clouds, Skull Kid in... Mach Rider. Somehow.

It took me a while to finally see how Mach Rider is positioned too.

He's actually sideways, or partially at an angle facing Roy. The "Skull Kid" Mask is the engine, it looks remarkably similar to one if you focus. The front wheel is partially behind Roy and the rear wheel is behind Inkling. The only thing I don't get is what is above his helmet.


Seriously don't think a fake leaker is doing this lol.

Actually, supposedly Ryce knew about the content of the whole August direct, Isabelle and forward. So it's not that K.Rool didn't leaked, just that no one wanted to talk about it
