Alright, trying to catch up on the thread:
- Pokemon - I want Rayquaza back, either as a boss or a Poke-ball. He's probably my favorite legendary ever. The bearhug thing sounds great though
- No real love for ARMS here. I'll give any character a chance, but if I was making the roster they wouldn't be one of my picks.
- Punch-out!! - If there was a secondary rep, I guess I'd go with King Hippo to add another heavy-weight.

I'd be fine with a new Fire Emblem rep as long as they represent a different weapon class. I know the '2 many swordzman' joke is old, but like, Bow, Axe, Spear etc. exist too.

I dunno. I thought they were adult looking enough. Like, I wouldn't be surprised if the intended age was 18-21.

Nia though looks like a young teenager (even though her English voice is clearly an adult) which is not helped by her Japanese voice. Her being 18-21 would confuse me.

Hmm, I actually saw Nia as being the oldest between herself, Rex, and Pyra, with all of them being meant to be 18ish. I can see the cat motif throwing people off with Nia, but she comes off as the most emotionally mature and developed of that trio from the start. Maybe her confidence is throwing me off.

I'd be interested in seeing Sakurai pull off a King Hippo moveset. His recovery would be the hardest thing to imagine, but it could be even worse than Mac's recovery.
It doesn't hurt that he's a heavy and a villain (sort of). Also, his design is just so goofy yet menacing at the same time. Would be a great addition.

They literally do not even mention ages. Nia mocks Rex when they meet for looking like an inexperienced salvaged kid and jokes about brining a babysitter along for him. Rex counters that she looks just as young as he does. It's just banter with no ages.

I don't think they ever straight up said an age. Nia complained about Rex looking like a kid. Rex gets upsets and said something along the lines of "you look about the same age as me lady." Rex is officially 15 just for the record.

Nia's age can also be potentially weirder considering the fact she is not only a blade but a flesh eater.

So here's a question.

I know a lot of people expect Spring Man or some sort of ARMS character.

But how many of you actually want an ARMS character?

I certainly do.

In my head I know... it is only a little baby franchise... spring man and co. aren't shoe ins by any means...

But in my heart I want an Arms character so bad. I love Arms and it's really the first time I've ever gotten in on the ground floor with a new IP. I would be so very proud of Arms if it got a rep in Smash Bros. So very very proud.

I do think Pyra looks pretty young, but regardless. Saying they look the same age as Samus? Nah. Not even close. Samus looks way older.

More like that's just how Mythra created her to be like.

The age difference between Pyra and Samus is likely due to the differing artstyle, though. That said, Samus is actually supposed to look like mid to late 20s, unlike Pyra.

Probably cause other characters have better designs to them and or potentially more interesting moveset. I agree to a degree. I’d prefer Min Min, Twintelle, or Dr. Coyle, but I’d have no problem with Spring Man, who I also want.

XBC1 is far and away my favorite, but I still like the entire franchise. But the topics related to XBC2 that this thread is seeing are so trivial and really don't matter.

Adding Nia as Xenoblade 2 character would certainly solve all our problems. And she is a popular character so I doubt a lot of people who are a fan of Xenoblade 2 would really be upset that Rex didn't get in over Nia.

But yeah, Rex is a main character. And seeing as character selection was probably decided around 2016, character popularity wouldn't really help either way.

Unless Sakurai pulled a Greninja and somehow predicted her popularity.

I know there no rep limits theoretically, but FE should not have more reps or (as many) than Mario or Zelda. Fire Emblem pushing has gotten out of hand. There's promoting it and there is cramming it down people's throats and FE is entering "Cram" territory

The problem is that FE has many good/important characters to be used. There's a point in Mario and Zelda where people are grasping for some one-off really bottom of the barrel stuff.

You've got core characters like Mario/Peach/Bowser and Link/Zelda/Ganondorf and then some characters like Sheik or Rosalina. That's fine, buts there's a point where it's simply grasping at any character of those franchises even if they just play an insignificant role in some spinoff game.

Also, the FE roster isn't getting crammed down our throats. The base game had 4 reps, compared to Mario's 7 (already reaching questionable options like Bowser Jr.), Zelda's 5 (with semi-clones like toon-link and Ganondorf), and Pokemon's 5. That's pretty balanced, considering now Nintendo considers FE a flagship franchise and has had a massive spike in popularity for a franchise long neglected.

The DLC never "stole" any spots from potential newcomers. Corrin was promotional. Roy was literally fanservice to Smash fans. Plus, if they had ideas for a new Mario/Zelda rep, it would've been in the base game. There wasn't anything recent at that point to pull from or anything old obviously worth putting in in the first place.

Smash "cramming" something down people's throat could be used for anything. "I personally don't care for Pokemon, with all of these reps, they're totally cramming it down my throat." The game at this point in its life is meant for Nintendo's All-Stars but also to bring lesser known franchises to the spotlight, like Earthbound, Kid Icarus, Star Fox, F-Zero, Pikmin, Xenoblade, etc. Fire Emblem is just something that is in both realms of being a decades-old first-party IP and something that should take advantage of exposure like Smash.

I can agree, the current roster sucks. But not because the franchise is bad or not worthy. It's bad because it is filled with swordsman, lords, and self-insert avatar characters. It's bad because FE can rep so much more than this that isn't realized in Smash yet.

I saw that. Nia says "what are you? Twelve?" in a condescending tone. He says "what does my age have to do with anything?" It's an insult, and hot-headed early game Rex gets offended by it. It's banter. It's not confirmation that he's twelve.

The developer himself has revealed his age. It's not 12. It's not 14.

Also this is getting really off topic. The point is we don't know most of the main character's ages, but the whole point of this is that Pyra is not a problematically designed child. Since it's not the case that's not going to be what stops her from being in Smash if she doesn't make it. She is modeled after a late teenager/young adult, and with a little censorship can easily get in the game.

Ready or Gormott. This would be my favorite taunt in smash probably.


Also, while im at it, Torigoth stage would be great. I love that little town. It's so damn quaint. Music is pretty great too. I guess I would accept Argentum too, but meh(mehmeh)

XC2 music is all pretty great too. A lot of great songs to use. Frankly, im pretty fond of most of the Day Town themes I can remember (AKA Argentum, Torigoth and the one after the one in Uraya)

I think the reason they don't address Zelda characters is because many of them are one-offs (not including Warriors/Spin off titles)
However I do think the Champions have a legitimate shot, hence the Mipha build I drew up.

Mario characters lose some options by Sakurai saying he doesn't want to do generic species, but now we have Captain Toad instead of just "Toad". And on top of that, we could get Waluigi (yay memes) or Daisy, those just being few examples.

We're really not scraping the bottom of the barrel, we're just below the "Main characters" part on the top of the barrel.

Going back on what @GoldenYuiitusin said, I actually do think Buzzwole would be a really cool character in a Smash game and it did have more importance to the story of SMUSUM than a lot of other Pokemon.

Ultra Beasts were a big part of the game. Buzzwole is really popular and kinda made to fight to be honest.

Leech Life and Drain Punch could make a really cool, self-healing but hard hitting Pokemon.

Plus, I want to see his Final Smash what he did to that Snorlax.
