I've more often seen the opposite happening, but I don't doubt this is happening.

I'd be pretty willing to say Verge was real the whole time, but that Incineroar is legitimate bait. IIRC going into Ultimate Decidueye was by far the most popular Gen 7 Pokemon and the most sensible one to 'leak', so in stark contrast Incineroar makes sense as an intentional bait character.

This is by no means confirmed, just my opinion. Someone higher up may have used Incineroar as failsafe to keep the roster from leaking, or covering it up if it did, and in a way, it must be working if every insider and their mother is plugging their ears just because 'muh Incineroar.'

(Still pouring one out for @Noipoi , @Smashing Ramen , and all the other Incineroar fans if he really got hyped up this much and didn't make it)

Incineroar is much more popular than Deciduye in terms of overall popularity I’m pretty sure, its just Hardcore fans who vastly prefer the Owl over the Tiger.

I think if anything Incineroar makes the most sense to purposely leak, because Verge and others have said themselves that Incineroar falls in line exactly with how they pick Pokemon. A common misconception is that Sakurai chose Greninja purely off of his design but in another interview he outright said the way he picks Pokemon reps is that he asks Gamefreak who they have positioned in a big spot, and thus they gave him Greninja. Incineroar is in that exact same spot, so was Lucario, obviously Pikachu, and presumably Jigglypuff. Red and Pichu are the only sore thumbs of the group but Red is an icon in the games, and Pichu was an easy clone who was decently popular. That’s why I feel so many are comfortable with saying “This leak is fake because I was told Incineroar is in”, because Incineroar falls right into the same category as Greninja/Lucario/Jigglypuff/Pikachu. It’s an easy name to send out as bait leak because he’s easy to believe.

He probably doubts that the Nintenninjas exist. Oh boy, if that's the case...

Eh, I want two Ryus, and I won't stop at any costs to support it. I guess with Medusa, her appearance(s) should probably be enough to keep them unique.

Plus there's branding, if Zero (Megaman) is any indication.

Not even pointing out a game's issues (sun and moon did have some flaws), just calling the game straight up bad. And now X and Y are being called good.
X and Y were good, but the vocal minority certainly didn't think so. When gen 8 rolls around, no matter how good it is, it'll be called crap and Sun and Moon will be the new golden child.

And you know what the worst part is? These kids don't even know what real Pokemon **** and never will experience the first time playing Pokemon Battle Revolution. YOU ALL KNOW THAT GAME WAS FIRE.

The problem is how people attack others persons everytime a leak is proved false because their Characters did not get in.

It is not our business.
But it's a normal responsibility and duty to make sure we don't get a Post-ballot 2.0 ****storm or that people are currently harassing the insiders because they decided to talk.

That game was one of the only Wii games you could hook up to a DS game iirc. Only other one being Order of Ecclesia and Castlevania Judgement link giving you one of the best helmets in the game which halves heart costs which usually needs a hard mode unlock. Sonic Boom and obviously Smash 4 did that later too

Its in regard to conflicting info that he might be in. Which is good news to me.

And or the leak might be wrong or outdated.

Guys on it: Mach Rider, Geno, Isaac, Chorus Kids, Banjo, Shadow and Ken.

There have been hints of Sora, though there have also been hints from Spawn Wave and Papagenos that the Tiger is in.

I should think there's no problem.

They're two different interpretations of a Greek Myth with both deviating heavily (originally a curse mortal, in Castlevania a species of monster, in KI a Dark Godess) so there's no confusing them visually.

I saw Sonic Boom and I cried a little.

I won't lie, I hated PBR for some reason, I bought it thinking it would have some kind of story to it, but I was disappointed. It was cool that you could still hook up HeartGold and SoulSilver to it though

All this incienroar as some leak bait character, this can be possible since it was mentioned that Smash Ultimate project and it's roster was finalized in 2015. I think that It was too late for Sakurai to get design of gen 7 starter's final evo.

But-t, T3Z3R1! It did happened during development of Smash 4, when Sakurai went to gamefreak to obtain concept art of Greninja! We strongly believe that it did repeated again!

Reason to this is that pokemon sun and moon was still in development AND isn't ready for reveal in 2016. At that time, Sakurai was very busy with picking new characters for Ultimate (Likely King K Rool and Inklings) and had to deal with copyright to get snake, cloud and other third parties veterans. Thus, I have feeling that he didn't have any time left to visit the gamefreak for new pokemon newcomer or he believes that pokemon reps doesn't need new fighter.

Sure, Incienroar was implicated by Vergeben, if that's case then we could run into some smash 4 chorm's situation (He was likely cut from the game). or his insider hearing that he may be in but actually there's no pokemon rep there. Which explains possibility of inicenroar being leak bait. Since it's tradition to inculde new pokemon rep every smash.

Therefore, Sakurai decides to not use Incienroar as new pokemon gen 8 rep, but only make him as leak bait to smell out any potential leakers.
