That could have just been a company policy thing, I don't know there.

What do you mean why?

I mean why should they bend over backwards to post tweets that don't exist? They aren't on a rigid schedule. They had a Dragalia Lost tweet at 11am yesterday. Just because they usually hit 10AM doesn't mean they always will. They didn't promise any announcement at specifically 10AM, we just thought it was a possibility.

There's no reason to be like this. The game's coming, we know when it's coming, and any other bits of info we get is extra.

Their job isn't "TWEET EXACTLY AT THIS TIME THIS SPECIFIC INFORMATION", it's probably more like "tweet at this time which Hootsuite/other analytics program says is a high engagement window for this demographic in this date".

I've studied and worked in social media before. It really isn't that simple.

This has not been good when it comes to news pacing honestly

This is Nintendo's typical news output, though. They always do big info dumps for their games periodically throughout the year and have months that are light or have nothing. The final press releases always come close to release, which we are slowly approaching. If I had to take a guess based off of their actions in the past, they could announce something within the next three or so weeks.

Sakurai literally said they would slow down and that they might have went overboard in August.

Look I want news just as much as everyone else but Nintendo is not making anyone do anything so you can't blame them for "making you wait" for a tweet.

People need to relax. Everyday that passes brings us closer to the game and an eventual direct. Don't you guys have school/jobs/lives outside of smash? Do those.

The most exciting thing for me in December isn't actually Smash, but the fact that i will travel to see an old friend who lives outside the island.

Yes there was, Nintendo of Canada being secretive about an event that ended up being something that isn't new.
I usually don't agree with people saying that the blog getting rid of the "NEW" icon means we are having a direct but this was on Nintendo this time.

Did Nintendo themselves say that something new was going to happen? No. Did they say to come to the bar for an announcement? I don't believe they did. All they did was encourage people to go for something...which was revealed to be demo booths. There was no false advertising, there was no lying, and Nintendo did not mislead us or promise us anything.

Honestly, though, this is not worth arguing over. If you want to be upset over this, then that's your choice, I guess. I just don't see a reason for people to cuss Nintendo out and criticize them for not announcing something they never said they would announce or made any indication that they had something to announce.

The ridiculous part is that like, I'm only on Smashboards during work because it kills time and it's fun. Like c'mon, do Another Thing. WWE2K19 just came out. I know some of you are wrestling fans. Go make some CAWs. Play MyCareer. It's fun this year.

Yeah you guys ain't got **** on the wait for Kingdom Hearts 3.

It was announced in 2013, but we didn't get more information or actual gameplay until 3 years later when Final Fantasy 15 released. Normura even said something along the lines of "yeah we're not really working on KH3 because we're working on FF15." Can you imagine having to wait 3 years with nothing but pure speculation? The wait before that was 8 years, which thankfully was broken up by the many other main series titles, but it wasn't Kingdom Hearts 3.

How about the news that they ditched their original engine for Unreal Engine 4 and pretty much had to start from scratch? That was certainly scary news given how an engine change is a clear sign of development hell.

If you think a 1 month info drought is bad, then you're a baby. It may sound mean, but plenty of other fanbases have been able to wait out much longer info droughts, or even have to worry about their game being straight up canceled (like Final Fantasy 15 and The Last Guardian fans). You can do it too.

Smash 64:Mario, Link, Samus, Captain Falcon, Donkey Kong and Pikachu

Melee: Zelda, Mewtwo, Bowser, Ganondorf, Peach, Marth and Mr. Game & Watch

Brawl: Diddy Kong, Wario, Sonic, Snake, Ike, Olimar, Pokémon Trainer, Zero Suit Samus and Pit

Smash 4: Megaman, Pac-Man, Daraen, Bowsy, Palutena, Greninja, Villager and Ryu.

EDIT: I love how almost every game adds 2 more slots for newcomers. 64 had 12 slots, melee had 14 (if you count sheik seperate), Brawl had 16 (if you count the trainer as one character), SSB4 had 19.

Ever since this one joke box edit that had a bunch of silly characters including a Wave Race character and another pretty convincing "leak" of Lloyd Irving and someone from Blue Storm I've been joking with my friends that Wave Racer is going to be in as a Falcon echo with a completely underwater stage.
...but I too would low key love some Wave Race stuff in Smash. Time for us to become the Wave Race support team.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. After Sakurai announced "We may have gone overboard with reveals they will slow down" and the whole Vergeban leak I NEVER expected anything in October. My money is on the final Smash Direct taking place on Nov. 2nd. The same day the bundle, GCN controller/adaptor, and Smash pro controllers hit store shelves. From a marketing standpoint it only makes since it gives the game one last big push and pushes people to run to store shelves and buy Smash Switch bundles for the holidays and before Black Friday. The final direct will show off Spirits and online mode. Show off the last 2 newcomers and like 3 echoes. My predictions are Incineroar and Geno as the final newcomers. The last 3 echoes are Shadow, Ken, and either Dixie or Medusa. The Direct will end with Ultimate being available for pre-load on the eshop OR the announcement of a Test Smash sometime before release (obviously exclusive to Switch Online members).

The direct opens up with a character reveal, it being Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Then Sakurai opens up the direct, going over Skull Kid's moveset. Then he goes over three new echo fighters, much like how he did in the first Smash direct in august. They will be Shadow over Sonic, the Octolings over Inklings (retaining their Splatoon 1 design), and Ken over Ryu.

This guy didn't even ****ing try.
