Sakurai Says To Expect The Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Announcements To Slow Down

Who is to say that Vergeben is right? I really think it's farfetched to have a steady flow of character reveals as we had before, but that doesn't rule out there won't be more than 2 newcomers left. I mean, we are bound to have at least ONE big Smash Direct before launch, and I just cannot picture it being without a couple of new characters. Maybe not exactly as much as what we got in the August Direct, but I can see at least one unique newcomer, and 2 Echoes make it in before launch. Possibly more. Because even if Vergeben was right, by the time he got his infromation, new ideas could've been made, and Echoes only take about 1/4th of the production time of a fully unique character, possibily less.

There's also that whole article that states that Sakurai is happy nothing got leaked yet ;especially considering that "Everyone Is Here". Which Vergeben-believers automatically claim that Vergeben has stated, which he didn't, he said no cuts from Smash 4, and that Snake and Ice Climbers would be back. His sources didn't say nothing about Young Link, Pichu, Pokemon Trainer and King K.Rool. Neither Chrom or Dark Samus.

I'll believe it once I see Incineroar. Nothing else will make me believe it.

So, quick question for the board. To those of you who like him, why do support Rayman? Just asking out of curiosity.

Rayman is one of my favorite video game characters/franchises of all-time.

The games are always of very high quality. Loveable characters and a whimsical world that, while inconsistent in tone at times, shows a ton of creativity that is met to it’s fullest potential.

The character of Rayman himself is one of my favorite character designs. Yeah, he looks a little weird, but it fits in style with the rest of the world he inhabits. His lack of limbs are used to their fullest advantage and provide a great amount of fun.

He may not be as big as Sonic or Pac-Man, but he’s still an icon. There were many platforming mascots in Rayman’s time, but he’s one of the few that’s managed to live on in some form or another.

Plus, having a battle between Sonic, Mario, and Rayman would be the ultimate childhood dream.

As hype as "Everyone is here" was. there are definitely a lot of characters I would have been fine with having cut if it meant more fan favorites got in. Not even necessarily any of my most wanted characters. Getting Isaac and Geno in would have been great even if they don't do much for me. The fact that we are looking at most likely only 6 or 7 unique newcomers at the end feels eh, despite who they are. Just my opinion though.

But the veterans ARE fan favorites....

Nobody currently on the roster I'd get rid of for one-off puppet man. No not even Roy or Young Link who I feel are extra fat.

Loss of a steady flow doesn't mean the whole well is dry. Just rationing, not approaching real thirst, at least that's what I hope. There's also the 'Character Blog Update' theory, and that holds about as much water so I don't care :D

Idk, slowing down doesn't neccessarily mean there are LESS newcomers coming... It just means that they will get revealed much slower.

He just knows the SE rep is in, nothing about the circumstances around it, so it could still be DLC.

With how far in advance he knew of it I feel like it'll be in the base game though, I'm sure they've given DLC some thought, but it's unlikely it's far enough in development for leakers to get a sniff of it yet imo, if it's even entered actual development at all. Leakers tend to mostly know about stuff that's so far in development that it's no longer just the inner circles of the team that's working on it.

Mewtwo was announced alongside already complete modeling footage over a month before Smash for Wii U went gold. If we're assuming Verge is correct and the first DLC character is a Square rep, those negotiations would have to happen WAY in advance, along with concept art and early move set demos for SE to approve before signing the deal.

Unless something significant has changed in their approach to DLC since the last game, they're very likely working on the first DLC character right now. And if it's a SE character, they were already trying to secure him before E3.

Personally, I am 100% satisfied already. I got King K.Rool, and been wanting him since Diddy's confirmation for Brawl in 2007. But with the 'Rathalos vs RPG Hero in Golden Sun battle formation' tweet of Sakurai, I still wanna hold hope for Isaac. And since Echoes are a thing anyway, I also still have high hopes for Dixie and Impa.

Geno and Skull Kid fans also have enough merrit to celebrate their chances with what Sakurai himself has stated. I mean, it's HIM alone who is the final author, not some damn "leaker" who just wants some internet points of coolness, or whatever. It has stained speculation enough already, and it's just.. not fun.

Believe what you want, let me believe what I want. That shouldn't be so hard, we all do it all day in regular life anyway.

I don't really see the point in hoping other fanmade inconsistent theories is optimistic, especially because you'd be upset if it turns out to be fake, but those who believed the box theory would be excited being wrong

Considering how little time there is between now and release, in addition to Sakurai saying how character reveals specifically will slow down, I truly think we're only getting Ken and either Incineroar or the SE character for the base game, with the other being an early DLC character.

It's likely that a leak already has and parts of the community refuse to believe it because it doesn't include sixteen new unannounced characters.

Just saying. People will continue to disbelieve whatever is shown and keep their heads in the clouds until either an official Nintendo direct says "this is the final character" or the game releases.

We aren't having 3 more directs. 1 is very likely, and possibly another 50 fact extravaganza type thing since that went down very well last time.
Honestly if you aren't lowering expectations by now you should be. Don't get upset if everything sakurai said comes true just because some people tried to twist it in another way.

There could be two more. There could be four more. All we should expect is for none of them to come anytime soon. Maybe we'll get luck with mid October, maybe we're looking at more of November.

At this point, I just want to know what modes will be coming back and how exactly "Spirits" Mode works (and if we will have any other new modes that we're not aware of), as I'm already wholly satisfied with the character and stage count regardless. Would be nice to get confirmation on the remaining Poke Ball Pokémon and Assist Trophies before the game releases too. Whenever a potential Smash Direct happens, I just hope we get all this firsthand from Sakurai rather than being leaked by someone else personally, just to retain some of the hype.

In other somewhat related news, I just completed Super Castlevania IV not too long ago, and I'm fully aboard the Simon and Richter train now. I can't say for sure who I'll gravitate towards for Ultimate just yet, but going by my experience with SCIV, I can totally see myself having a lot of fun exploring their moveset.

Guys, Sakurai's recent comments DO not mean anything that makes box theory as look more correct, It's more of like slowing down newcomer reveals and less confirming counting of remaining newcomers. Remember Smash Direct back in August? We got 5 newcomers from that, and should we expect next smash direct, we would get like, few than 5 newcomers but more than 2 newcomers. And everytime that everyone thought they got Sakurai's pattern in right way, He would throw unexpecting news at us in the return. So it's nothing better than bowing to overlord that is Box Theory.
