So now that we "Know" the final roster, what sort of Event Matches are people excited to see?

people are still talking the box theory? its nothing. Its no different from the banner w/ all characters in Ultimate. As the roster grows the banner is adjusted. So will this box as well. Its just a " for now you to see what it looks like."

People believing box theory are really grasping to assume a random NoA graphic designer knows the final roster when even Treehouse higher ups don’t know it. If this had characters we didn’t know about, it would be more valid, but it’s just placeholder art. The game is 3 months away. The FEW box art leak and the Tropical Freeze box art leak are incomparable.

But people are going insane over it any way. I’ve got nothing to lose because my characters are already in, but damn people believing this are going to feel really stupid in a couple months thinking the final reveal is ****ing Incineroar.

As mentioned by another user eariler, the designer wouldn't need to know who's in the roster, just how to design one side and how many spots to leave. It's possible.

Yeah, I don't think that's unlikely.
Well, whoever they show in the middle is up in the air, but I definitely picture Incineroar (or other Gen 7 Pokemon) being an opening act and Geno being the closer.

I'm expecting 4 more characters total for the base game, I don't believe in the box theory at all or the smashdown theory, especially when the first wave of inevitable DLC would break smashdown's number requirement. The box is obviously a digital mock up and is subject to change.

The only character I'm pretty darn sure is in at this point is Ken as an echo. I'm willing to believe Incineroar is the new pokemon rep, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Geno and Dante at this point for the final two (hoping instead for Skull Kid and Banjo, but looking doubtful now for base game)

The roster is pretty incredible as-is right now, I'm more interested in the modes and hoping Smash Run is back alongside Spirits mode being decent.

I'd say we're definitively getting Geno to finally have the Big Trio in the game (Ridley, K. Rool and ofc Geno), the other slot left should be for Isaac or Skull Kid

It's plausible that the SE character may actually be DLC or bogus info.

Definitely sounds possible.
I would prefer a different Pokemon over Incineroar, but at this point I'll be super hyped if it's someone I really want, but otherwise I'm satisfied with anything.

Especially since he did not know K. Rool was a character from one of his three sources. So his info could be incomplete.

Or is it possible he could be getting info on DLC characters, which is why he isn't saying the SE Rep?

No, an Isabelle related event should be that you need to defeat a character while 6 Isabelles **** about on the field and you mustn't hit them at all

Was he really requested prior to the echo fighters reveal? I saw Daisy, Chrom and Dark Samus' names constantly but not Shadow's. In fact I would argue that Tails was more popular than him. Sorry if this offends anyone but I feel like he was more a badwagon choice after people realized that he could be in the game, unlike the 4 new echoes that we have already (bar Richter and he is a special case)

See like, Shadow's has been a weird character for Smash. I personally really want to see him in the game, more than some of my most wanteds, but I really just didn't care for him prior to a few months ago.

I think there are several reasons for this:
1. I can't stand Sonic. Naturally, I don't want another spindash character in the game. Considering the early hate Sonic got in 4 for being obnoxious, I'd imagine other would-be Shadow fans probably just didn't want to deal with more Sonic either.
2. If we did get Shadow, he would absolutely be somewhat similar to Sonic. There are no two ways about it. We aren't getting Shadow without Spindash at the very least. If we got Tails, Knuckles, or Eggman we know we would have got a completely unique newcomer.
3. Welp......train of thought fell off the rails. I had a couple more points but whatever. I'll remember sooner or later.

Even as a Shadow fan, I agree the demand for Tails and Knuckles were a lot higher and I'm not gonna lie I'd take Amy over Shadow even now, but the fanbase does exist. Shadow isn't just an edge meme believe it or not.

There's 3 months until release and you're all already expecting doomsday and speculating on what two characters will get in, or whoever is DLC?

If this is the route we're going to go, I'd rather go back to speculating about chairs or apes scratching their ***.

For the most part I think it's more apathy then anything that been twisted with a combination of other things before and after her announcement. The hate I don't think is directed specifically at Isabelle rather she's become a representation of what is considered the problem at this point.

Me, personally, I'm still just apathetic about the whole thing as I simply don't care enough about Animal Crossing to muster much towards her one way or another. I didn't like her trailer, which is not directed at Isabelle more so on how they chose to present her.

i'm starting to wonder what my role was in the speculation community is anymore. I started speculation gradually becoming more open about possibilities through several passionately written analyses, hoping that this speculation period would be my time to not make predicting errors like I did with the last game, being optimistic that Sakurai had more in store for newcomers with his growth as a developer, in contrast with the lower count of new fighter pessimism present in many hardcore speculation communities. Now we get to this plausible situation of box-art that kinda flushes the time I spent on speculation down the toilet. I am not really sure where to go from here. It is certainly an interesting time.

I do believe Verg's Pokemon/Ken claim is true, but I don't think those are the final characters. The box art probably won't have every fighter on it unless its a high priority for advertising.

I think even others have noticed how much it happens/happened to me.

My statement wasn't saying it was only me, but rather it happens to me substantially A LOT more than any other user that I've noticed.

There was legit a period that one of my favorite things to do was just to come on, joke in off topic threads and make people laugh when I was under the Roger Smith screenname.

People ALWAYS took the jokes at face value or me being rude or mean. People would explain. I'd explain. It never mattered.

No. Isabelle was alongside a new Animal Crossing, something people kept riding up Nintendo's ass about for a few years. Incineroar doesn't even have anything that could be considered too soon for an earthquake. Didn't the Daemon X Machina trailer show some destruction? And those Cities games?

yeah, no way, the time was stated before the rescheduling and it stayed the same. Also, Isabelle was a dual Animal Crossing announcement. They definitely had that planned as well. That theory has a lot of issues imo

"Everyone is here!" is one of the selling points and Sakurai said everyone would be revealed before launch.
Every base roster fighter is gonna on the boxart.
