In regards to the Riddle rumor. Even though a character mainly doesn't debunk a rumor. Scorpion IMO is an exception to this rule. Pretty much any rumor that has him is automatically fake.

1. Mortal Kombat's main gimmick is the brutal violence and finishing moves, it couldn't fly past the radar in Smash unlike Bayonetta.
2. Mortal Kombat is incredibly unpopular in Japan. Only a few people in Japan would actually know he is. If there's going to be a western 3rd party character, it's gotta be someone that's recognizable in Japan like Crash or Banjo(I Think). Lara could qualify as Square has been trying to push her to Japanese gamers(They did a Tomb Raider Pixiv contest and put her in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius).

You know, I'm going to be really surprised if we don't see any Ubisoft content in Ultimate.
Consider the following:
1.) Mario + Rabbids began production in 2015, which was the same year that the first project plan for Ultimate was finalized.
2.)Ubisoft had three trophies in Smash 4 and if we take a look at polls, Rayman was popular in the Ballot era.
3.)Following the announcement of Fox in Starlink, Ubisoft said to expect more collaborations in the future.

4.) Following the announcement of Mario + Rabbids selling 2 million copies, they have reiterated their "long term relationship" with Nintendo.

5.) Although most of the character additions have been worldwide favorites, Sakurai is also adding characters that the western Smash fanbase wants, whether as an AT (Shovel Knight), Echo (Dark Samus), or newcomer (Ridley).
Given all of this info, I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility for more Ubisoft representation in Ultimate. Not necessarily a character, but more likely an AT. Rayman could be a popular character that follows in the AT footsteps of popular characters such as Knuckles, Zero, Krystal, Bomberman, and Shovel Knight, but the addition of Sukapon, another limbless character, makes me wonder if it would be someone else.
If Rayman doesn't get in the base game as a character or AT, I think he has a fairly good shot as DLC.

Yeah, I hear the lines are crazy. Hoping no one goes to the GameStop I will go to. Maybe everyone else can go to Best Buy, like there...

I think I'm just fine waiting for a demo or testsmash.

Right. Bit of a thinkpiece here, but to be honest, looking at stuff like this, the rather huge reaction to Civilization VI coming to Switch in November, people still buying Switches in droves, Nintendo is starting to get back on a roll later on this year. At this point, I'm just gonna end up seeing problems like "cloud saves" and such be swept under the rug because of games and hype, because look at how long that line is, man.

You see it happen with Sony with the games they got; I have quite a few of problems I have with the PS4, mostly it's online stuff and how they handle their legacy content with PS3, PS2 and PS1 games, but at this point, they aren't gonna be fixed and will only just get mentioned because people are buying the system like hotcakes and big hitters like God of War and Spider-Man are the only thing people's attentions are at. They don't care about things like cross-play when you're focusing on a good game (and boy did that issue get swept under).

Not to mention these problems - whether it be Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft - don't really hit the mainstream as they should, so whenever I see something like "Sony Will Never Fix Cross-Play Issues" or "Nintendo's Online Service Has Been Handled Terribly" I just look at it with a jaded view because these problems never usually get fixed cause their respective platforms are still printing them money and most people just have other priorities.

Sorry for the long post, but man, I just gotta figure out where I could put these thoughts at since I've been seeing these stories lately.

My last few posts gave me an interesting thought. Does anyone here think that it could be possible to turn a playable character into an Assist Trophy? In the event that Sakurai considers cutting characters again, is it possible that this could happen to some characters (aside from and to a waaaay lesser degree).

I extremely doubt Sakurai will ever give a previously playable character a demoted role, he is very well aware of the big backlash it would cause. He had the opportunity before and he never did; even when it was perfectly logical to make Dr. Mario an alt costume in Smash 4, Sakurai still went and made him a clone like he was in Melee explicitly because Sakurai didn't want to disappoint fans of his Melee appearance.

When a new Smash gets a new director who knows how they will operate, it could maybe be possible then, but I think they would take significant influence from Sakurai and would still avoid doing that.

1. I can't get enough of Pocket Camp. I also enjoyed New Leaf and Happy Home Designer.
2. ALTTP, OOT, MM, TWW, TP, and BOTW are some of my favorite games.
3. Main games and Mario Kart games and Mario RPG games is the ****. I also like Mario Tennis 64 and Mario Power Tennis.
4. I still play Castlevania games on Wii Virtual Console (and WiiWare) and Wii U Virtual Console once in a while.

I think we will see both in some way. Not one or the other. They're both iconic, highly popular, and unique in their own rights.

Maybe it's me being a bias Rayman fan, but considering Sakurai is taking a look at the Ballot for character suggestions such as K. Rool, I don't think it's far out there to think he would choose Rayman since he's still pretty popular.
The Rabbids are popular now, but if you took your mind back to 2015 to the Ballot era, that wasn't the case.
Of course, I'm open to the possibility of Rabbids getting in. I don't have a problem with them. I mainly used Mario + Rabbids as an example of how close partners Nintendo and Ubisoft really are. If Ultimate's newcomers were following Smash 4's philosophy of adding in relevant characters, then I could see the Rabbids being more likely than Rayman.
We'll just have to wait and see.

What can I say? I'm basic. Both Mother and Xenoblade would have a good chance of placing, but I've yet to actually play any of those games. Same with Animal Crossing actually. And possibly Fire Emblem.

Wait I guess technically I have if you count the mobile games for FE and AC. But uh yeah I'm not gonna count those.

Edit - refers specifically to Warioland, though WarioWare is fun too. Also gets an honorable mention.

For me personally:
EDIT: Some of you guys are going in depth, so I might as well too.
1. - First game series I've ever picked up, and I fell in love with it ever since. I still remember all the hours I spent in Viridian Forest trying to get a Pikachu after shortly leaving Pallet Town with Charmander. I have such an attachment to games like FireRed, SoulSilver, and the Unova games foe a variety of reasons as they all had an impact on me at different stages in my life. It's an amazing series, I know practically every game in the series like the back of my hand, and despite me not being happy with a lot of decisions in modern games, it still holds a very high place in my heart.
2. - There's honestly not much I can say about these games that no one else hasn't spoken upon. He is the definition of Nintendo for me, so outside of that I'll just move on as everything has been spoken upon for him.
3. - Like many people, OoT was my very first Zelda game. It left me awed at the world and all the unique characters to be found. I found myself always wanting to come and explore the next iteration and incarnation of the Hero. This one that is heavily nostalgia based, sure, but I still contest that some of the games in the series are my favorites of all time. And they have the strength to back it up.
4. - Again, my first FE was many other people's, Awakening. I originally picked it up because it reminded me of one of my favorite tactical RPGs, Final Fantasy Tactics. However, I was pulled in through the sheer amount of personality and stakes that the series brings to the table. Alongside the introduction of the Outrealms and finding that this series had more to it than Ike and Marth, made me decide to take a deep dive into it. I found myself enjoying the earlier entries of the games and lost myself in the different continents and stories they had to offer.
5. - One of the series that I found through Smash Bros. itself, hell I used to think Samus was a robot until I saw her again in Brawl. After I practically got a 100% in that game, I read through all the Metroid trophies to discover more info and realized I needed to play these games.
My first game was Zero Mission and it felt completely unlike any other game I've played before and began to adore it. I slowly became a fan of the entire series after that.
