Fortunately no, it is real. Smash for Switch 2018 confirmed with Inkling- wasn't clear on the new game/port or anything involving details.
Just Inkling, Smash on the Switch and 2018.

Link seems to be based on the Breath of the Wild design, by the looks of it.

Hmm...they actually did it. Smash!Link there looks like he’s updated to his BotW appearance complete with him being right-handed if the sheath on his back is anything to go by. The announcement says it’s coming this year. Considering the fact that the models of the fighters were pretty much covered, I’d say this is a new game and they “hid” the models because those might not be the final models.

I don't have much to say right now, but I'll just state that Smash Run has a huge opportunity to be implemented onto the Nintendo Switch. Smash Tour can just burn to pieces for all I care.

Gotta say on the tangent of Splatoon, it's kinda funny that everything in Splatoon is free... except playing as Octolings online ^_^

I will say that, unless new information starts coming out really soon, it's still a little early to start saying who else will most likely be in.

We know the Inklings are in for sure.

But whether this really is a new game or not, we don't have any other information just yet.

I suspect speculation will slow down again for a while after the hype calms down until we get some new info.

The tweet literally tells people to look at the logo differences if they think it's a port. And that's coming from the director of the series. It's totally confirmation.

Actually it reminds me of the Melee logo because of the font.

Notice that they're being coy about not revealing a subtitle for the game.

Also notice that the silhouette of Link is BOTW Link.

These indicate that it's a new game...

I CANT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED. When the trailer of the inklings showed up at the end I thought, they might show off smash bros and them joining the fight. *Smash Logo appears*, I'M ****ING DYING RIGHT NOW!

One thing I found intresting was that Breath of the Wild Link was in the trailer, so it's possible that BOTW content might be in the game. Just my thoughts.

I think E3 is the thing to anticipate to learn more. If not a straight port, it could have heavily used Smash 4 as a base, yet build up on that enough to call is a new entry (see Splatoon -> Splatoon 2... which is getting tons of content still, like wow). It really depends on how they want to market/classify it.
