Plotting out my roadmap for the next few months.
- September: Geno (#68) trailer in a direct (no new stage but we get SMRPG music) - I don't see this being the final reveal because any kind of leak would kill this hype
- October: Nothing
- November: Smash Direct. Starts off with a trailer for Incineroar (#69), then a reveal of the final echo fighters: Isabelle and Ken. Talk about Spirits mode and finish with the reveal of Isaac (#70), the final character (no GS stage though). Game is now available for pre-launch download and the E3 demo will be available in the meantime.

we ould be getting more characters, or not... but i think 2 more is posible the safest bet right now, there is still another direct with spirits mode at the very least.

As for the 3 essentials? well my roster is pratically complete thanks to simon and ridley, but if i have to say...

1-Skull Kid/Isaac/Geno, At least one more legacy super fan favorite more,Personally Skull kid would be my pick as from this three is the one i want the most, an dgeno teh one i want the least, but even if we only get geno i still would be super happy for his fans.

2-Incineroar/Lycanrock/Surprise. seventh gen pokemon while i still think that there is a posibility that this is teh first smash withouth any pokemon newcomer, I really hoping for a gen 7th one

3-Elma/Anything Rythn Heaven, At least a more "new" newcomer,to balance all this sweet sweet legacy characters... (althoug a gen 7 pokemon is still techincally a new newcomer

I seriously can’t see why Bandana Dee wouldn’t get in (Besides Sakurai bias). He’s a relevant main character from one of Nintendo’s most popular and well known franchises, extremely popular and highly requested worldwide, and would bring a unique playstyle to the roster as we don’t yet have a spear user.

I agree that they might frontload their most hype reveals to prevent leaks, though I dunno where Isaac falls under that.

People are reacting as if I said "we're only getting two more characters", when that's the opposite of what I said.

I even said Sakurai could have been deliberately downplaying the number (which he would do regardless).

It's also worth noting that Sakurai('s translator) said that right after showcasing two Echoes... so, you know, this statement could be referring specifically to Echo Fighters and not regular Fighters.

As someone who has ardently argued against the "don't expect too many newcomers" line meaning much and thus doesn't think this means much either, it would still be interesting to see what Sakurai actually said in the Japanese direct, so is there anyone that can go verify what he said there?

Edit: like it's not actually that ridiculous to be disregarded. It only announced a few things, shows of Bayo 3, and announces 2 smash characters if anything.

Nintendo Switch Online users will be granted access to several alternate skins in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate when the game launches, including Dry Bowser and Cloud’s costume from the Kingdom Hearts series.

Interestingly enough, this isn't the first leak I've seen say this feature would be in. That leak also suggested quite a few characters would be getting in. If this comes true, I'll have to take a closer look at it, I dismissed it as ridiculous at first but I did screenshot it.

Despite my sig listing like 20 characters, I really only feel like 3 more are needed to make the roster feel "complete"

- Bandana Dee: Would complete the kirby representatives with one of the most iconic characters in the franchise
- Paper Mario: A popular Nintendo franchise with it's own identity that really deserves to be represented with a character
- Xenoblade rep: Elma or Rex/Pyra are fine, but Xenoblade is obviously an important IP to nintendo at this point, and def needs a 2nd character

What 3 characters would make the roster feel like this to others?

Here's my personal bias

-Chorus Kids/Karate Joe: RH is in dire need of representation, and also a series that Sakurai had a character planned for, that I doubt he would leave buried in the dephs of data in Smash 4.
-Geno: Highly requested since Brawl, and everybody and their mother (even Sakurai) wants him
-Incineroar/Skull Kid: Honestly can't decide both would be great.

Entirely possible. It dependa how:

A. Nintendo want to market their online and future titles.

And B. How Sakurai wants to reveal characters. If he wants to announce multiple characters per Direct we may face a drought until October at the earliest.

I think I know what "leak" you're talking about. It's unlikely that I'll find it in the archives, but I do remember one or two of them mentioning additional costumes/characters available for Online Subscribers.

He would if Nintendo made him, or to incentivize Nintendo's online program which is already fighting an uphill battle before it releases.

Also Ryu has 2 final smashes, so it's not unreasonable for a characters to have multiple final smashes.

I find it slightly interesting Sly Cooper created their profile last night, but waited until tonight to post that "leak". I don't think it means anything at all for or against it, I'm just curious why they'd make an account to fake a leak then wait a full day to actually post it.

Why? Because that'd be immediately underwhelming and I don't want to be disappointed lol.
