So I'm really mixed on this game.

I LOVE the concept. Even though I thought a lot of characters wouldn't come back, I like that they are bringing everyone back. HOWEVER, looking at the footage, all I could think of is "Where is the new stuff?" I already own the other 4(or 5) titles. Do I really need to buy a game if all I'm getting is Inkling and Ridley. There is no NEW content here. We're just retreading old ground. Maybe they are going to do what I said and add new content over time? Maybe? But rigt now, I'm feeling that this game isn't worth the $60 dollars because its not a new titles and thats ultimately what I wanted.

At the very least, we have Ridley and MemoryMan had the last laugh.

My boy Wolf is back, snake is back, IC is back. Kinda bummed that Charizard gor relegated, but damn Squirtle and Ivysaur is back, so it's bittersweet.

Every single character returning is amazing. Really excited to see Pokemon trainer return without the stamina forcing you to switch between the 3 characters. It will be nice to be able to play as Ivysaur again! Zelda got a new design but has the same moveset from the looks, hopefully they fixed some of her issues like Din's Fire and Phantom slash being storable. Ganondorf used a sword at one point, not sure if that was a throw or something. Lots of small changes for a lot of veteran characters overall like Link's bombs being controllable. Kinda feels like smash 4.5 which is not bad at all, there are plenty of new things to make the game feel fresh but it's definitely built off of the Wii U version. It's definitely a new game that has been polished though, the movement and animations all seem much smoother and the victory screens and such are all totally new.

Edit: Ganondorf uses a sword on all of his smash attacks now!

The most hype thing for me was that they actually picked ALTTP/ALBW Zelda for Smash Ultimate. That's my most favourite design of Zelda ever. I'm so happy!

Is it just me or does the game look more competitively designed?

Picking stages first. Those new mechanics. More accurate percentages. A lot of talk of 1v1 stuff. The Final Smashes are rebalanced and more cinematic. Even down to the intros before the matches.
