i dont like the idea. if doubles matches needed 2 tvs then it would take as long as a singles tourney.
also being crowded and getting ur ears ***** is part of the doubles ´experience´.

if we end up with too many tvs then go for it but otherwise just stick to one tv per match

I'm not trying to make this into Brawlfest 1, 3 or Battle at the Border 3 where people are being cramped and trying to watch grand finals and so on. This was part of my idea where people can choose a good spot and watch finals as they happen. Loud noise isn't a problem unless the player asks for things to be toned down a bit in which case I would like you to respect them. 2 TV's isn't going to hurt. But the friendly stations I promised will, which is why I'm asking - begging for people to bring TV's/Wii's/Anything.

:cough: more melee friendly stations :cough:
Chances are there will be 2 Melee friendly stations instead due to Gamecubes and a greater interest in Melee compared to the normal interest of Brawl. We'll see what happens during the day but Melee stations are looking more and more promising so I'll say that.

i thought that the only designated friendly station we ever used was that HD flat screen that was too laggy for tournaments. if you do the tv tag team thing for finals that would be great.
and the venue looks pretty big so crampyness shouldnt be a problem. but one way it could like batb 3 is that half the people there have to watch instead of play cuz of a shortage of tvs. thats the only thing i dont like about the idea

Okay, Last and officially final update.

Brawl Low Tier starts at 1:15PM and Melee Low Tier now starts at 7:00PM.

Brawl Low Tier Doubles was removed due to a lack of interest. I'm sure everyone likes Brawl Low Tier Singles anyway. Updated and fixed a few things here and there, some corrections and clarification.

i thought that the only designated friendly station we ever used was that HD flat screen that was too laggy for tournaments. if you do the tv tag team thing for finals that would be great.

I don't know why you're making it a big deal, it's not a finalized thing and it could not even happen. I bought the equipment to do such a thing but it's just an idea. But anyway...

1) HDTV's aren't a problem unless they don't have the appropriate setup.

2) Holding it for finals just to have another Wii switch out would be too much of a hassle moving everything so the Wii unused on the other end can be used on another TV. We'd have to move things around after awhile and we're holding a handful of events already as it is.

3) The venue is big. Big enough for a Hobo event to put it into words but is still a tad bit smaller.

4) Battle at the Border 3 didn't have a shortage of TV's. They had plenty of setups. It was the way the place was designed however, unable to move around. Ask someone if they're doing friendlies and so on. Nobody's fault because it's a LAN center which carry those designs (Correct me if I'm wrong). As far as I know no recent tournament in our area has sacrificed 1 or 2 TV's just to have a friendly station going. That is one of the few things I hope to change. But from the looks of things they will be Melee only. Regardless though they're friendly stations.

Hopefully that cleared up a few things but as I said the idea isn't final but I do want to go along with it. It all depends on the amount of setups/TV's.

Please bring more TV/Wii's.

Yay melee! I need to see about getting the weekend of the tourney off... maybe I'll just see if I can change my work availability to where I don't work weekends hahaha
Hope to see you here and hope it makes it worthwhile for the trip. :)

There will only be one TV being "officially" recorded but I talked to Magik about the idea of VCR's and most of his TV's have a VCR in them. I plan all TV's with one have an option of recording matches. I'll be even bringing a VCR myself along with 2 extra tapes. We'll see how this works out. This was also the reason why I asked for Composite cables to make things easier so I don't have to use normal cable wires.

If you want you can take a VCR. I didn't say anything in the thread because I think we have it mostly covered, one TV not having it isn't going to hurt... But regardless it's fine. My VCR doesn't work right though so I have to take a screw driver if it decides to eject the tape randomly and/or eat the tape. Two composite cables are needed but Magik & Griffin seem to have this covered for letting me borrow them for this tournament.

Even then if none are provided I can use ones I currently have but one seems to not work sometimes and one I can borrow but don't want to lose it as it isn't mine.

Yes, I'll be bringing two. I know there's at least three TV's including mine and yours that need a remote. So I have that covered.

no one posts anymore
Not much else to say other than to wait until the day comes.

4 days from now!

I probably won't be making it to this after all. Sorry guys.
Sorry about that :( would've been pretty cool to finally get others to travel here. That's fine and dandy though, hope to see you here another time.

In other news, I forgot to note that the parking lot is pretty small and I'm unsure if you're allowed to park in every parking space around the hotel. You should be able to but I'm unsure. So I suggest some of you to please park right and show some respect (don't double park). But I don't think it'll be too much of a problem...

And one last final note:

Don't forget that Brawl Low Tier starts at 1:15PM. If you don't think you haven't practiced/played enough I am opening the doors for everyone at 10:30AM as soon as I set the tables and chairs. Until then you are allowed to play friendlies. Every game will be seperate and a little bit organized. If you have any problems getting here or need directions/contact info anything of that sort PM me now. I can try and help but I am not so good with directions, I'll do my best to help though.

Hype. I'm hoping for a large amount of people coming and I hope it will be one of the best tournaments run around here. Just hope I can get helpers helping me. *hint hint*

Possibly. Not a guarantee type of thing but we'll see. By the end of the day I don't think anyone will care for much of anything... As said already, We'll see.

if this is gonna be a $2 event i would enter as well. sounds like fun.
$2 for all side events including anything doubles related. Possibly everything goes to first place. (Needs to be discussed)

can it be a free event for people that are just entering for lolz?
There's a reason for a low fee. They're side events. What am I to give if someone wins? I don't want someone arguing with me about them not getting anything which I know that's what it will come down to. It's dumb. However if there's a big outcry of the fee I'll shave it to $1.

Low Tier Doubles IS better. Low Tier Singles is just a drag but others will probably be more interested in that more than anything. As said above, We'll see. Not sure how a FFA tourney would work though... >_>

I was thinking of this: I made a complete codelist kinda like Brawl+ except without the huge BS changes. "Combo Brawl" nothing majorly changed except with added hitstun for combos and slightly sped up gameplay (Everything is halved lag for aerials). That's it, nothing else with except some minor changes but nothing totally huge. I need to find an easy way to adjust grabs though because for some reason almost all low tiers have actual chain grabs or grabs that combo into each other badly... What do you all think about this though? It's a nice change of pace. Kind of like how Dallas/Houston have their own side events why not try this? I'll have a small station by the end of the day and you all can approve of it whether or not you like it. Everything is still in as I said, nothing changed. Just actual combos.

... No reason to quote what I said just to make the page even bigger than it already is.

For all doubles related events: If less than 7 teams enter there will be a no go.

That should go onto my ruleset as well. I'm sticking by it. If there's 6 teams I'll consider to run it.

And about what I said since I didn't quite be specific, there will probably be no event for it but I'll let others try it out and if they enjoy it I'll consider running it. It's just a suggestion. Low Tiers are too overrated and used. I would like unique events.
