Smash Portugal National Tournament #3

I don't have any friends with a wii, and the ones that played on mine are total noobs, and I'm not seeing any of them improving at all.
One friend of mine almost always falcon punchs and stuff, my cousin was the same thing but he evolved and went for some pika thunder spamming lol, though I don't play with them in a while and my cousin was starting to use some other stuff with pika.
Other friends only played a few times and don't really know much how to play. Another cousin of mine was starting to play well with Toon link but without a wii he can't practice
I was thinking on introducing competitive smash to my friends with Smash 64 online and my cousin was interested on it, but I can't connect with the game, don't really know why...
But yeah some people think it's childish because some chars like kirby, pikachu and jiggs -.-.
People think good games are FPS and stuff, I have some friends that play Counter-Strike all the time, I used to play with them long a go, but I left it for Brawl and other wi-fi games. Smash is much better than that kind of game imo, more challenging and fun, you just need to try it a bit, and that's why I wanted to get 64 work online, if I did and get it to some friends they would try it probably.
Having a country where PS=video games console doesn't help at all, Smash is really unknown here, I only found out about the game because of Smash 64 on Project 64 (I think I saw Melee on a store, but I had no idea what the game was about, and no one I knew had a gamecube).
Well just some thoughts...
And Flayl I saw Up and I liked it a lot, my father and sister liked it too. It's really a movie for everyone, and I think smash is also a game for everyone.

I see a lot of offtopic here and little advertise of the tournament on other sites (not that they get much more players there). Please start posting this stuff somewhere else (mostly directed to flayl since he have done it before ). If you are waiting for natp to confirm the venue then i understand, so... natp how are things going? (I could post it myself but i'm lazy)
As for tv sets how many will we have? I can bring one as long as someone passes by Aveiro to take it (writing this again since i didn't have confirmation).

We all played CS and got bored at it. But for me, smash has never been boring. So yeah.

Actually I never played cs even though my friends were crazy bout it in 2007. While they played it, I just played melee cpus. Oh and waited for brawl. And also I really don't think fps's are really that great games. I mean, I know they're not bad games per say, but smash is just so much more intricate and fun. The only fps is team fortress 2 and I don't think it even comes close to smash, lol. Even though I reallly like it, smash will never be beaten. MAN, I gotta play smash now. D:

Yeah, I was organizing my mp4 and was doing this bit by bit. I only realised it was so big when I posted it . I guess I got a bit carried away. But everything there is true, and it's smash situation here on Portugal on my point of view. Next time play with me

I'm going to say this idea again just because I liked. Even though it might seem similar to the Portuguese combo video, it's different. I think that we should do a instructional video on smash for the Portuguese community. You know, just showing everyone how smash can be awesome and fun. And maybe we could do something to demonstrate that the smash community is really fun and is a great community to be a part of. I think you should consider this idea.

Yeah I think we could do that and everyone could help a bit. We could call it: "An introduction to smash" or "Portuguese Smash ABC" or something like that. But where would we post it? In different portuguese video games forums?
This kind of thing should be probably discussed on our social group or at the Portugal official thread (but that one is long dead I think) because it's getting a bit offtopic. Unless we use this to advertise the upcoming tourney

Já tinha pensado nessa ideia antes. Estou muito mais disposto a trabalhar nisso do que num highlight video.

Podia fazer um vídeo a explicar os conceitos mais básicos, e depois no fim dava link para smashboards, para aqueles que queiram aprender técnicas e informação específica de cada personagem. Se tiverem problemas com inglês podiam falar com um de nós.

Lista de técnicas gerais (depois dou-lhes nomes portugueses):
- Spacing
- Avoiding/Punishing Lag
- Shield grabbing
- Outras opções dentro do escudo
- Approaching against projectiles (power-shielding, short-hop airdodging, usar ataque para bloquear)
- Pivot grabbing
- Reverse Aerial Rush
- B-reversal (no ar e no chão)
- DI
- Recovery -> interceptar e evitar ser interceptado, inclui edge-hogging
- Stale moves -> não usar kill moves até uma certa % e outras coisas
- O que fazer a seguir a um ataque bem sucedido (combos, tech-chase e posicionamento)
- O que fazer se fores atingido (smash DI, airdodge, posicionamento)

Diz-me se faltar qualquer coisa.

Outra coisa que devíamos abordar é o facto de tantos personagens terem tantos matchups, todos eles requerendo um tipo de aproach diferente pois isso é sem dúvida o melhor do brawl, pelo menos na minha opinião.

You need a really GOOD match, but yeah I actually totally approve this whole project. We have to find a day to record all of this.

Well, Flayl and me organize all the tournaments around here, and you're absolutely welcome. ^^

Alright guys. A weekend without discussion is unacceptable... And let me confirm we ARE adding a little Melee singles event that will be only 2€ to enter. Also, I'd like to tell what I'm bringing:
- a Wii + Wiimote
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Super Smash Bros. (N64)
- DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3
- Brawl+ codeset

I'm not sure yet if I'm bringing a TV, but there's a slight possibility.

Anyway, do the same and tell us what you can bring, I'll update the second post in the thread which contains our inventory.

Btw, we know this tournament is not going to be as big as the other ones, but if it proves to be a LOT less efficient than the first two, we might actually consider never doing a tournament in Porto again until long, so please make this one count.

It's Confirmed!!
The "After Tourney Smash Party" will be at my house in Aveiro on the night between December 22 and 23.
I provide a (confortable?) place to sleep for whoever wants to come. Until now just King Funk will come for sure but anyone is welcomed here (this is for you too phyr and others that might want to stay around porto at night).

Para se contarem os carros que estão a pensar vir e para se dividir o pessoal pelas boleias em vista de poupar mais uns trocos. Deve de haver gente que não vai por achar caro e longe, no domingo já vou tentar convencer aí o bounty e biglord (que será quase impossivel) e ajudar a organizar o sistema de boleias.
O kaze também se mostrou disponivel a levar carro e dar boleia a pessoal da zona de lisboa (mais propriamente da Ericeira). Portanto em principio serão três (quatro?) carros de Lisboa contando com Flayl, G-ike e kaze (Mr. Burned?), e poderão não ser necessários tantos.

Não acredito que o brawl+ tá a ganhar. Podem jogar isso online sempre que quiserem. Melee, NUNCA há uma oportunidade para jogar. E as friendlies que se fazem no torneio não chegam. >.> Além do mais, mesmo apesar de nunca terem jogado o melee antes, ou por muito pouco tempo, deviam experimentar jogar no torneio. É um jogo quase completamente do brawl e é uma experiência muito agradável joga-lo com outros. (Pelo menos para mim, lol).

E eu acho que o sonic é middle tier, só mesmo para ele não poder entrar nos torneios low tier. xD Estou a falar a sério! Parece mesmo que ele domina a maioria dos outros low tiers.

Não acredito que o brawl+ tá a ganhar. Podem jogar isso online sempre que quiserem. Melee, NUNCA há uma oportunidade para jogar. E as friendlies que se fazem no torneio não chegam. >.> Além do mais, mesmo apesar de nunca terem jogado o melee antes, ou por muito pouco tempo, deviam experimentar jogar no torneio. É um jogo quase completamente do brawl e é uma experiência muito agradável joga-lo com outros. (Pelo menos para mim, lol).
