I've been learning sh dair xair and tent combos this last week but I mainly have trouble like knowing where/how to approach, especially from a losing position.

Here's the deal: don't approach. Instead toss fireballs, fend them off with D-Smash, D-Air > something and N-Air. If you absolutely must approach, use standing short hop D-Airs in Kirby's vicinity and slowly move forward. This lets you dodge backwards if needed.
Don't shield too much, as Kirby can actually get shieldbreaks. Up-B oos if caught, though U-Tilt pressure is, unfortunately, airtight.
SH D-Air > aerial only works with standing short hops (running short hops can get you a couple frames of U-Air/N-Air's hitbox but the timing is irritatingly tight, so just stick to standing)...what ciaza hasn't said is that SH D-Air>U-Air is pretty meh if you don't know how to do Mario's U-Air combos, which generally (for kirby) can end in a F-Air/B-Air/N-Air, or U-Smash if you're on DL. You have to learn to use the weaker, behind hitbox of U-Air to combo light characters into U-Smash.
Average Kirby players can be beaten by cautiously approaching with plenty of fireballs, getting grabs from D-Air and edgeguarding efficiently.

Either way, while ratsco was around when I played, he quit at some point (never saw him since). Blackshadow and I were around before Judas. Kuromatsu was the real king though.

The flowchart you see was developed by Judas himself, after my multiple versions with people coming in and telling me about updates (http://forums.desiree.net.au/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=59). Since Judas was around before most of us, his tree was the most reliable. ratsco did not come back. Kuro is still the king, and he's coming to Manifest for SMASH BASH - Australia's First Ever PPV
Well unless blackshadow said so, I don't know if he felt he was 'trained' by ratsco.

Yeah I think that's when Zoowhouse went down permanently, I stopped playing for a few months since my master server list had stopped working for some reason :/

Me and my friend maurer probably started playing smash 64 online in 06. May have been earlier tbh. I even had other friends from high school who sometimes played with us.
There was a server we played on, but it wasn't desiree's (initially).
We played online with items, generally 4 stocks, dreamland 64 only (like 9/10 games).
We moved onto either 4 stocks or 5 stocks, without items (maurer and I were around that far back that we just used to play with against eachother and didn't care about others: kuro/ratsco (more ratsco) would always be anal about playing with us anyway).
But eventually we started doing like 4 way games. Moved out of items, even though both kuro and ratsco did play items games with us, it was just too easy for games to desync using them.
Atticus was around sporadically, he would show up at around the same time everyday and prefer to play 1v1s, but around 07 my friend maurer kinda stopped playing online that much. Atticus and I started playing a bit and playing with Ratsco. Kuro had a period where he wasn't around too much.
Blackshadow started playing and suddenly we had a 4 man group who could play together and there'd be a 5th person who didn't get to play all the time. More often or not ratsco would sit out, he seemed really anal about it.
Around the time desiree's first died was around the time PvP kaillera came out, and there was some large disconnect of the community. From what I understood ratsco quit, but I later found out he just only played pvp. Blackshadow disappeared. Atticus and I and sometimes kuro were the only people really playing.
Blackshadow shows up again, ratsco seemed absolutely gone, judas came on the server one day, he had supposedly only played in the pvp thing, and was a controller player. Blackshadow and I were abit meh playing him, we couldn't beat his kirby unless we used like pikachu or ness or kirby ourselves, it was really apparent to us how much a controller made the difference (kuro was controller, but we just thought he was absurdly amazing - and we got reasonably close playing with him using Pika against his best [at the time: fox]; we were really disappointed and felt we were kinda noob'd by judas at the time; he couldn't beat any of our chars with anything bar kirby). Atticus and I moved onto mupen64 because it allowed us better keyboard control set ups, so we pretty much were a group within ourselves and sometimes kuro would play with mupen. The contrller plugin for mupen wouldn't work with project64k and Judas would refuse to play with mupen. Judas brought with him like 3 or 4 players IIRC, but none were even close to as good as judas.
I was still somewhat active up until brawl came out in 08. When iinet went down there was some server (It may have been called "James") but eventually desiree returned. Have no idea what happens now.

See the thing was, originally I was on kaillera servers playing Garou.
It was only because I waso n the kaillera servers for like up to a year seeing people play 64 that I picked up 64 again (we used to play it on emulators in high school classes from like.. year 8)

Funny that, I started playing on an emulator with my friend Isaac in I.T class in year 11/12. Bestest times ever.
And it 's actually it's really hard adding stuff to places without me knowing the exact dates. aa will probably do it for me.
