What weirds me out about ICs is, even if having two seperate characters was difficult on 3DS, why not just modify their moveset to just share one hitbox, or otherwise, simply be only Popo? Why remove them completely?

I'm still banking on them being DLC for this reason. Maybe the developers just needed more time to nail them down.

This isn't how it worked. Think Melee. Six clones instead of a unique character. In this case we have 3 instead, Lucina, Dark Pit and Dr. Mario. This implies that they had time at the end to work on these clones, but probably not enough time to work on anything else.

My stance on the ICs:

I've always worried that the ICs may become separated if Sakurai cannot solve the fighter's issues (could also be because of gameplay, it does need some tweaks. Idk how Sakurai feels about those 0% --> death chaingrabs). Sure, you lose the IC's main novelty (which could be a reason not to add them altogether), but I personally don't mind. To me it's better than not including them (Nana or Popo could appear in a FS or something).

I could have really done without a 3DS Smash (especially if it will cause limitations) or at least have of both versions' character roster be slightly different. Alas, unless if Sakurai changed his mind, different rosters is not what we're gonna get.

The problem with the ICs being DLC is that it seems contradictory, especially since Sakurai has worked on them early in development. DLC may not fix the problem with the ICs, I'm not too sure. They may have to tweak some things to make them work. I am going to miss the ICs if they're completely gone either way.

There are three credible leakers at play at the moment:

-Izat True, the person who uploaded the Video leaks (and whose channel has just now been taken down by Nintendo);
-All-Star, the person who leaked the locked All-Star menu icon, and who says that a Pokemon Rep, a DK Rep, and a Newcomer from a new series have not yet been seen;
-Mother****ing Leaker, who has released a bunch of images, and says that Mewtwo, Dixie, Impa, Ridley, and Mach Rider have not yet been seen.

The third leaker's credibility is a bit tenuous, however, since they're the one who created the fake DLC leak (Ice Climber, Wolf, Lucas, Snake, Chorus Men), and may have been the author of the original Palutena image leak that surfaced back in January. Even so, he has shown to have legitimate leak info in his possession. All-Star has yet to have done anything to bring their credibility into question.

It's also worth noting that the characters All-Star and MFL are alluding to aren't mutually exclusive (Poke Rep could be Mewtwo, DK Rep could be Dixie, New Rep could be Mach Rider, and the added characters of Impa and Ridley).

What is universal across all leaks, however, is that no one has yet asserted that the Roster Screen is all that we're getting. What supports this notion is that the All-Star menu icon is locked -- meaning that not all characters have been unlocked in the copy/build/etc. that is serving as the source for all this images and videos.

I'll be serious, I do really hope there's more. As it could mean that Ice Climbers, Snake, and the others may still have a chance.

Breaking News.

Evidence has surfaced that MF Leaker knows nothing. He's just been leaking images that have come into his possession, and people who actually have information may have tested this by giving him an image, which he went ahead and posted on the Internet.

So his credibility is heavily into question, especially when you consider the above in combination with his fake DLC leak. Therefore, his actual remaining character allusions (Mewtwo, Dixie, Impa, Ridley, Mach Rider) is likely to be false.

This doesn't mean that some or all of those characters won't be in the game; it only means that if they're in, it's not because MF Leaker said so.

As @ Sehnsucht had posted, at the very least we'll have 3 more characters. One from Pokemon, one from Donkey Kong, and one from a new series. This goes hand in hand with another credible leak stating that Mewtwo, Dixie and Mach Rider are playable. One of these leakers are also saying that Ridley and Impa are playable. But I'd take it with a grain of salt, until any video evidence is found for those characters too.
