You know what's funny ? Mario Kart 8 has one of the worst default roster in any Mario Kart game (not including DLCs here) but you still see more variety than Mario Kart Wii where everyone is just a loud ripped gorilla on a motorcycle.

There were hidden stat boosts and reductions for each character in MKWii, on top of their weight classes.

Funky had the strongest hidden speed boost, so everyone abused it.
