FINE. My inbox is getting flooding with people telling me how wrong I am, and it's getting old.
WRONG, your inbox has infinite depth and cannot be filled :smirk:
(Love u ken bby)
Your setting yourself up for disappointment with that kind of expectation, they said 50 facts, I don't recall them saying anything about 50 brand new things. There probably be some repeats among them so my suggestion is to expect some of that.
The instagram page mentions 50 new things for smash on the Wii U

Now I'm thinking about maining Ludwig. First I went to Palutena, then to Diddy, now I'm thinking of the Koopalings (they have a surprisingly good footsie gameplan). Finding a main sucks sometimes. :L

Reached 1000 in a stat for the first time.

Marth with 1000 attack ought to be destructive. Oh and he has 664 defense and 541 jump.

So, I saw Larry's trophy description, it said he was the leader of the Koopalings. I thought that Ludwig was the leader, at least until Jr. took his spot to a degree.

I had 1000 speed ZSS before. I had Mega Man with 1000 in some stat before too, but I can' remember which one exactly. It might have been Jump or something.

Wasnt 8 player Smash something they tried to play around with in Melee as well? I can only imagine the chaos, but part of me wants to participate in it, especially on the larger stages.

Why do you include Palutena but not Miis on your custom moves list? Seeing as both of them came with all the Specials from the get-go.
Because the Miis are kind of their own thing, plus there are three of them.

I don't really see why this particularly matters anyway.

I guess MK8 said it first, since Larry was in the very front of the Koopalings Art.

As a sidenote, gameplay should never matter when choosing a character, characters should be chosen because of who they are, and THEN a moveset should be made for them, that's why Lucina's better than Dark Pit and Dr. Mario, she's a memorable character from a memorable game. I mean, do you really think Sakurai chose Rosalina thinking "Yeah, she's a puppet character"?

It's true that Raichu always gets the short end of the stick, but I do like Pikachu more.

Also...people, I'm being an *** on the POTD thread, should I just back out before it gets even worse and wait out the cruel jokes about my supposed age or the whole 'salt' thing that stopped being funny a couple centuries ago? I'm just pissed off that the OMG BIG REVEAL of the Direct will be a character we already know, love or absolutely hate.
You hypocrite. You just bashed DHD in that thread for having a moveset made up for him when he's just a generic dog who got no business calling itself a Nintendo All-Star. Have you considered that maybe Sakurai chose DHD because he IS the Duck Hunt Dog? You are only 18 (or so you claim). You have no idea how memorable that dog was to the gamers over the age of 25. The majority of gamers during the 1980s grew up on the NES and for most of us, Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt were our first games. He's iconic not because he was in Duck Hunt, but because of how he made us feel in that game. We loved to hate him. The dog's infamous laugh is what made him memorable... he made fun of our poor gaming skills... that's why it's part of DHD's entrance, taunt, Final Smash, and victory... and the gaming culture as well.

So just curious, can I get every trophy through normal means? Or do I have to do some of the challenges to get a few?

While I do agree with you, I don't see how age plays into this. It's possible for one to be from the modern generation and still find the qualities of the older video game consoles.

I don't remember. The only Gamecube game that can do 8 player that I know of is Mario Kart Double Dash. And it actually worked.

But even then, you needed two T.Vs to do it.

I think the challenge trophies are the only way to get them.
Once you complete the challenge, you get the trophy, but after that, I think you can find it normally.

Not that it really matters since you already have it anyway.

I don't look at him through Nostalgia Googles, so I can recognize how terrible of a character choice HE REALLY IS! Duck Hunt didn't deserve a playable representative, and even though he represents all of the Zapper games, I don't think the entirety of the Zapper games deserve someone playable either, that dog would've been fine as a stage hazard on a DH stage.

I wish Nintendo never bundled Duck Hunt with Super Mario Bros...

I would've been OK with the dog if he came bundled with some decent characters, fittingly, like his original game, the only good thing about him would be if he came with something better.

Can I ask a quick question?

Did you think the Ice Climbers deserved their spot in Melee and Brawl?

Says the guy who says Smash is about Nintendo's history.

I'm 21 and never once touched a NES, yet I know that a lot of players older than me remember those games fondly because they were part of their childhood.

A character inclusion being good or bad is purely subjective. You'd be more honest if you said you don't like Duck Hunt dog's inclusion because you don't like the character.

That's a tough question, if I had been around for Melee speculation, I would've probably hated them, but they've become a series staple. Also, one or two retro reps are more than enough, if there's too many, they take the spotlight from characters that are actually relevant at the time.

Yet you want Sheik taken out for Impa, when she is in the exact same boat as the Ice Climbers.

Such hypocrisy.

I'll be honest with you. I never played Duck Hunt. I have no nostalgic feeling towards the character whatsoever. But I can still see merit in the character being added to the game. And whether you like it or not, the Dog can be seen as a classic Nintendo character. He probably has more merit than the Ice Climbers in that specific regard honestly. His moveset is fun to boot, which is the most important part of a character in a fighting game, how great their gameplay is.

We get it, you'd don't like many characters in this game. And it's perfectly fine to voice complaints, despite what some might say. But you aren't doing it in the most respectful manner.

I mean, ****, I would have really, really, really liked to see some more Donkey Kong and especially Metroid characters too, but I'm not going to curse every other character in the game out of spite or something like that.

Who knows, maybe they will be DLC?

And I wish Sakurai never made that Melee intro trailer with that Ridley clip. That's what started all this insanity.

Oh, and not everyone sees Ridley through purple tinted glasses.

This is so ironic... you never wanted Duck Hunt Dog that you wished he would be a stage hazard... and you really want Ridley that you wish he would be playable...

@ Frostwraith Frostwraith Removing Sheik wouldn't remove an entire series from the game, though.
To be honest, I go back and forth between hating the generic dog and being OK with his playable status, he's simply the easiest newcomer to blame for the lack of fan-favorites because he's such a non-relevant and quirky character, I guess I could also rip on Greninja since he's the other newcomer that didn't deserve it.

Again, the gameplay argument doesn't work with me because I care little about how a character plays.

His role and his relevance shouldn't warrant any bigger role than that.

Well, see, they were from a subpar NES game that didn't have a memorable character until they started appearing in Smash.

As opposed to Duck Hunt Dog, who has stood the test of time as an infamous character for 30 years prior to Smash.

Your opinion on the Ice Climbers makes me want to think that as Duck Hunt becomes a series staple, you'll grow to like him or at least tolerate him, just like Ice Climbers.

And too many retros? There's 3 of them. G&W, R.O.B., Duck Hunt, 4 if we count Ice Climbers. In a 50 character game, that's not even a tenth of the roster.

Ridley's a cool villain though. So I'd welcome his inclusion if he's ever playable. I mean, he's no Ganondorf, but I still like him. Too bad like with most things, the overzealous minority makes everyone look worse than they actually are.

Duck Hunt was my first video game. Well, the oldest one I can remember anyway. But I havent played the game since, and had very little connection to the character. But Im still excite for the character, especially since it represents every Zapper game including Wild Gunman, my second even videogame.

I never expected him to be in Smash, though I hoped secretly he would get SOME kind of representation, and this, this is more than could ever ask for. Based Sakurai delivered.

Same. I used to own a NES when I was very young and the only two games I can still remember of it are Duck Hunt and Wild Gunman. Both were and still are great games.
