Except that's not a fact, it's simply your opinion, and in some cases flat out wrong. Greninja and Rosalina are incredibly popular, Pac-Man and Mega Man are ****ING PAC-MAN AND MEGA MAN, Little Mac is very popular in America, etc.. The only intentional oddballs I can think of are WFT and maybe DHD, but that's it.

I wanted Rosalina, Little Mac and Villager in the game like there was no tomorrow, but if the tradeoff's no Ridley, then good riddance, I'd rather have none of my normal wants and only my most wanted. Dark Pit was nothing than a lazy palette swap glorified to character status and basically made a much-less-interesting version of every Shadow The Hedgehog-type character to ever exist. On a game with an array of memorable villains and antiheroes (Viridi, Phyrron, Phosphora, ****ING GODDAMN HADES!) Sakurai had to fill up the roster with a clone that didn't even deserve his spot as a clone.

If Dark Pit wasn't included, you wouldn't get Hades. Clones are very simple to make, and (like Doc and Lucina) Dark Pit would have been an alt (so they didn't even have to make a new model when they decided to make him a clone). It was Dark Pit or no one.

Duck hunt- massively iconic in the US, due to being packaged with Mario Bros. I think it was well known in Japan, too.

Little Mac- highest western fan demanded character that was entirely exclusive in demand to Americas and Europe.

Rosalina- Dev favorite Mario character, Sakurai found a cool way to implement her which was probably made before she was actually chosen.

I'd say those are good for smash.


But really, I'm not really sure why k Rool, Ridley and mewtwo aren't in, especially when they are pretty much the top 3 most requested, as well as all of them being really iconic.

Maybe they are being saved for the Wii U version (with a free 3DS update.)?

I've enjoyed each game even if the roster wasn't exactly who I wanted. While I value the character choice quite a bit, how they play does matter, as does the modes. I honestly miss Bonus Mode more than Mewtwo myself. Why? I used it more than Mewtwo. Don't get me wrong, he should be back, but I'm not going to blame any of the roster for it. They're all awesome~
