All Smash Bros. veterans except Young Link (would be redundant with Toon Link), this includes super-clone characters like Lucina, Dark Pit, Dr. Mario or Pichu... and Mewtwo and Snake (hahahahahaha!). Total of 60 characters, counting Mii Fighter classes as individual characters.

Captain Toad (regular Toad would still appear as Peach's special)

Possible Pokémon Gen VII newcomer
Possible Fire Emblem newcomer

I'd consider maybe there's always the chance of a brand new smash worthy Mario or Zelda character that blooms in the years, and probably Krystal, Paper Mario, Adam Malkovich, and Will Turner.

• All Mario characters return, plus whoever the newest character is. Still no Toad in any form.
• Diddy is cut. DK is the only one from his franchise.
• Ganondorf is still a clone. Toon Zelda is added. Sheik is removed.
• Zamus is removed because Metroid is a dead franchise.
• Hades and Medusa are added. Viridi is added as a last minute semi-clone. Dark Pit is Luigified.
• Ike is removed, newest FE protagonist added, Lucina is Luigified.
• Kirby stays the same.
• Falco is removed, Fox is now flying solo.
• Newest starter Pokemon is added, Lucario is removed and becomes the new Mewtwo.
• Ness, Captain Falcon, Little Mac, Villager, Olimar, Miss Fit, G&W, R.O.B., and Duck Hunt are still in.
• Protagonist from X joins Shulk.
• New "retro" character Tetris Block joins the fight.
• Pac-Man and Mega Man are gone. Sonic returns.
• Five different Mii forms to chose from. Fighter, Swordsman, Gunner, Mage, Baller.
• Are you feeling it yet?
• Multiple new franchises are added before their games even come out.

With Alts being a real thing now? Unless Impa uses her giant sword and a Hyrule Warriors-inspired moveset, I'd rather her be an alt of Sheik with Tingle playable.

If FLUDD was removed, I would've been okay with Dr. Mario being an alt and the custom moves actually gives Megavitamins as an option. But the spin must be there too. I'm more happy with the current release, but still.
