I saw LP talk earlier.

Sometimes I watch people play them blindly out of curiosity to see how they react to certain parts of the game for the first time.

There are few that I really watch anymore though.

There are good LPers out there, but honestly most are crap. And I've been moving towards more live streams than Youtube LPs.

I watch gameplay footage in general because I enjoy seeing stuff from games. Speed runs, competitive ****, walkthroughs, whatever.
When I watch something else I'm just like, "eh...." unless it interests me.

Played Smash Wii U for the first time. =D

Was at an anime event. Played two 8-player matches. Got 2nd place in both. My character of choice: the Evil King, Ganondorf.
My only time playing Smash Wii U was at the Best Buy Smash Invitational.
:4bowser: guided me through victory and won me a Smash-logo badge. I still have it.

I just watched a Kaizo Mario speedrun last night.

You say tool-assisted, I say cheating.
You say cheating, I say helpful tool that shows how you can exploit the game into your favor to help speedrunners discover more strats. Also just to see how fast you can beat the game in general. :4pacman:

I think I'm the only one who likes spoilers. If it's for a new game that I like, I click the video to see the ending, final boss fight whatever it is. I hate waiting and rather just watch the game being played then punish myself.

Personally I enjoy TAS. Because it's interesting to see them break a game in some unorthodox manner.

I don't 'like' them, but I don't mind them. I don't have the discipline to avoid every game website in existence for months. :p

TAS put speedrunners to shame...
....not at all, they actually make RTA (real time attack) progress a lot.

See, RTA and TAS often teams up together because the philosophy is not the same and can potentially help the RTA community. I personally lived and heard that.

See, TAS has their philosophy to search and investigate heavily on the ins and outs of the game (essentially similar to gltich hunting) to give the theoretical best possible outcome that can ever exist. RTA has their philosophy to try to give the most consistent strat that any human can perform with some practice and learning.

What happens is gltich are often discovered by tasers that are humanly possible. I lived this with TTYD and I heard many stories. RTA can also helps tasers because RTA people are trained to do VERY repetitive tasks, they can give better idea on what feels faster which can help TAS that has to go through one run with tons of savestates and only repeat stuff like RNG. Btw, RTA can give better statistics on RNG which can help TAS to figure the RNG oput and manipulate it.

You will never see TAS and RTA separate, they just are different are are very closely related. RTA wouldn't be that awesome without TAS and same for the opposite, it;s a very close relation.

This is why both side exists :)

I try to avoid spoilers for things I do want to see for myself, but it's not like I hate them with every fabric of my being.

I only do that when I'm stuck in a game, but that's it. I think watching how other people play games is boring.
Yeah, same. It gets really boring when I watch other people play.

I don't mind them. Never cared for the story or anything.

LOL, a Spanish retailer is listing that a Shovel Knight SSB amiibo is releasing November 27 this year: http://www.xtralife.es/otros/figura...9515#prettyPhoto?source=webgains&siteid=54264

I can name many fails to this:
  • The boxart & "figure" is just Omni's "Smashified" artwork
  • The first DLC character amiibo (:4mewtwo:) isn't even out yet and we haven't seen any sneak peaks/details of the :4lucas:, :4feroy:, or :4ryu: amiibos yet either.
  • I fail to see this retailer being a reliable source
  • Yacht Club Games has already announced it's not real
I'm not saying Shovel Knight shouldn't be in Smash (I honestly don't care if he makes it in or not), but don't make up stuff either.
The retailer said it was placeholder artwork, and of course Yacht Club isn't going to announce "oh yeah, Shovel Knight's totally in", so this one's still in limbo.

Possible, but Shovel Knight has never been released in Japan and his popularity in the West isn't that big. He just has a vocal fanbase.

But I still doubt Shovel Knight would get his amiibo before Lucas, Roy, & Ryu do (Mewtwo has already been announced for an October release for Europe)
And this too.

TAS put speedrunners to shame...
I'd argue that it's even more pointless because it takes more time than skill. Games that require pause buffering in real time become a breeze on easily recoverable TASes, no effort required, just time.
