For me, it kinda goes into the idea of why I like Social Thread. Because to be honest, it gets dull talking about Smash day in and day out; and it's nice to stop for a while and talk about something else. Whether it's games or the weather.

The problem with "****posting" is that there isn't anything to it. And often obstructed actual conversation. Oh sure, sometimes you'll get one, but more often than not it'll be interrupted by "LOL SHREK I'MA MAKE A SLAM JAM LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!1!!!! xxxxxxDDDDDD". And where's the fun in that? It's not funny, it doesn't add anything, and it's certainly not endearing.

Also, I don't know if I said this, but I adore it when people defend ****posting. I'm sorry, but to me it always sounded like: "Yeah I know my posts are meaningless garbage. But I don't care." It simply makes me giggle with glee.

*clap clap* Alrighty, time to loosen up this tenseness.
Yesterday, I found out that this guy 30 years ago acted as the main character in Karate Kid:

Ralph Macchio. I had a hard time believing he was 23 when he starred in the movie, much less acting as a high school senior. And he's supposed to be 53 in the pic on the right. Well, I shouldn't be surprised since I have the same Puberty-Prohibiting X gene Macchio and many other actors have. Still, it's pretty cool there are people like him that exist.
He looks at least 35.

We're having existential crisis? What? Pretty sure we're here just to enjoy each other's company. and occassionally ****post.
hold up going to update my list of turn offs BRB
I was exaggerating this constant whining about the thread dying because of ****posting or whatever x reason or something like that.
Nah, it's different. Macchio prolonged his youth.
Sakurai is only reversing his.
I think it's in the dosage. Sakurai took enough to reverse his age and Macchio only took a bit.

Though Macchio is older.

Reminds me of Will Smith also.

They're probably using that drug Heihachi used to return to his younger appearance in Tekken Tag Tournament 2

****post is love, ****post is life.
I see where you're going there. I usually just go along with it since it's supposed to be a joke. It's a pain in the *** to take certain things seriously, and I don't really take to much conversation because I have no idea what's going on, or I'm not interested.
I can't deny that ****posts are as you say, "meaningless garbage". It's hard not to. Still, I think there are probably worse things out there than the ****posts we have here. Doesn't mean that we have less garbage though. Gotta take out the trash first before it fills up again.

Also just a fair warning and a head's up. There's gonna be quite a few changes here come tomorrow. I know it's something a lot of people here will complain over, so I'm just warning you ahead of time: don't.

It's part of our Ad policy that people shouldn't direct others offsite in a way that competes with Smashboards, in this case, using a different service as an alternative to the Social thread, and thereby diverting traffic away from the main site.

All I'm saying is it can easily become a situation that can spiral out of control in an even worse way, so it's best to try to quell it before it gets to the point of no return.
Its enforcement is inconsistent.
Either reword it to make the status quo consistent (i.e., indicate the arbitrary, fuzzy degree-based sliding scale, and / or discretion-based nature of enforcement on the tin, in bold, and reflect that in moderator's post wordings), or start being consistent about how it is now (which I think nobody wants).
The only thing I've learned from them so far is that pointing out when a social thread enters the territory of another thread, it's chill and totally jokes brah to point it out and ***** about it :troll:

I'm kidding, of course, though I think it's just a different atmosphere. I prefer talking to other people who like the same game I like is all. Project M is fun but you know I like Smash 4 more. I don't think it's a case of "better quality" than preference. I wouldn't have fun in that social thread (cue "oh is sm4sh social crybabying again :troll: :troll: :troll: :troll: " /s) hahahaha.

And of course, it would be silly to say we have to be serious about 'enforcing' rules since we can't do that anyway :4pacman:. And yes, some of the rules are pretty uh... pointless, but simple things like "don't ****post too much guys" isn't too unreasonable, right?

*shrug* And the rules that are rather stupid have only affected... well, virtually nobody. The cropped porn avatar thing only really happened to the one person (as unfortunate as that is) and I can only disagree with the rule, not rally to have such a petty thing changed.

There are better things to do with my time.
...like apparently participate in completely optional social thread that's having a dumb existential crisis for no reason.
And for some reason, that's not a turn off for me.

tl;dr: i don't care, everyone will stop being stupid eventually and even if they didn't it's a silly thing to dwell on.

I don't recall anybody being genuinely upset over it (i.e. making a big deal out of it). A few people made jokes and asked what happened but that was it; However, point still stands and I agree.
What makes you think I like Smash 4? :troll:
Nah, but, I'm right here with you. It's not turning me off at all. I really wish S4S users were more mature about it, though. Then it'd just be existential posting instead of maybe-crisis posting. :D

And, yeah, nobody really made a 'big deal' out of it IMO.
from the PM social

I like the PM social more than this one as well but there is some mad **** posting on there too
Man, that's some low-quality doo doo posting right there. Good thing PMS is too chill to even bat an eye. Either way, thanks for the correction. :D

All you would need to play is a D-Pad and 2 Buttons, which we're gonna call A and B.
The Hero would consist of a somewhat jolly-looking fellow who's design is basic, yet very expressive. Not exactly sure what they would look like at the 'mo.
The main mechanics would all be given to you from the very get-go, but the game never tells you how to do most of them until it's needed (And even then, it would just be a picture sign that gives you a hint of what the goings-on is, not what you actually need to do) and the game rewards you for experimentation and either finding the cool tricks before you were supposed to, or heading back to a previous level with new knowledge to get some goodies you weren't able to find out how to get to.

The Hero's skills that are explained are the Dash, Jump, and Bounce, and eventually the Dig. Everything else (TBD by myself) is either pure experimentation or finding out how to do it in certain scenarios
Jumping (A) is your normal Platformer jump, except Jumping has a momentum-esque feel to it (Going fast = Jumping Far, Jumping off a downward hill gives you a higher jump) but you can shift it slightly, sorta like Mario Land 2. Jumping in this game, however, doesn't kill your foes. Instead...
You can use the Bounce. Pressing Down on the D-Pad whilst in Mid-Air will cause our plucky fellow to rush towards the ground, but you still have your Jump momentum (Going fast = you still move with the Far Jump, but you fall much faster), and this isn't like Sonic's stomp, you still move whilst Bouncing. Bouncing off of foes not only kills them, but gives you an extra-high leap off of them that is much higher than your normal jump. Hitting the ground when bouncing will either stop you in your tracks (If holding either nothing at all or Down on the D-Pad), or (by holding forward on the D-Pad) cause our hero to do a "Roll"-esque manuver which will keep the speed so you can get going.
The Dash (B) isn't really something like a Run Button or Sonic's Boost. Instead, it only gives you a small split-second speed boost and makes our Hero go into his maximum speed (Aside from when Dash Boosting, which can't be done when at full speed anyway), and even then our Hero's best speed isn't Sonic fast, only something a bit faster than Mario's unless we're having some fun with momentum (Slopes, anyone?) but you can still keep the speed going.

The Dig is what sets our plucky Hero apart from the other guys.
Pressing Down whilst in motion causes your character to Skid, which doesn't affect anything ever except it slows you down if Skidding for too long. Pressing B when Skidding will cause our hero to Dig into the ground, where he can overcome obstacles and puzzles (Such as digging under an Enemy to hit their only weak spot, finding a canal to burrow through to progress or find secrets, and other such things). Dashing into a diggable wall makes you burrow through it.

Diggable surfaces are usually marked by anything natural, while Metal things aren't diggable (indicated by little "NO DIG" signs where the surface begins and trying to dig will cause our Hero to do a little animation signifying it's a no-no [If trying to do it while in motion, your momentum will be kept])

And that's all I got for now
And now that I've typed all that, I'll probably forget all of it once I fall asleep because I'm so good at everything

I wouldn't worry about decent people complaining too much.
It's not like you guys are going to be unreasonable. And the best part is I won't have any reason to change my style of posting.

What makes you think I like Smash 4? :troll:
I was talking in general. I like talking to you because you're one of the only people who can provide interesting points to things. Not that anybody else can't... I guess I just like talking with wordy people sometimes. :4pacman:

Hahaha. Nothing to do with game preference.

See, I'm one of those people you can call "reasonable" and I don't dismiss people on petty preference differences like the majority of the internet.

Alright, this is my last post regarding this but let's be real: we pretty much come here to ****post. If there is no S4S, there's the million other social threads to ****post. It's like seeing a flower go away, but eventually there will be another one in the club.
I agree with the sentiment of them not adding anything to the conversation, but oftentimes people don't know what to post which leads us to that and like farming. If things like this are gone, we'll have the constant whining because of new rules. Memeposting is also a problem whether you like it or not.

As I said before this is all we do in this thread. There is no variety whatsoever, and it sometimes makes me want to not post here at all. It's sad.

To close the book, if there are any changes please do them for the better.

Forget the Pokemon, I just want to know whether or not they're going with the "not evil but misunderstood" or going straight ahead to misunderstood.

Sounds cool. Ive been working on an rpg with job classes like ff3, ff5 and bravely default.

The 4 characters are based off me and my 3 closest friends but aged down. :p ive though of 18 of the 20 jobs.

I bet we won't have to change anything, but, it's always scary to me.
I'm always wary that a moderator will use the sliding-scale-degrees-of-quality-fuzziness-up-to-discretion thing and interpret it in a way that I think might be unjust or silly.

The social threads were mainly supposed to be about Smash 4, and going too far off-topic was frowned upon sometimes, from what I remember. Not that anyone really followed that rule (including myself)

Now it's generally "anything goes", as long as you don't "s---post"

Time to guess the plot of the special:
Lysandre keeps doing experiments and gets the attention of Zygarde because he's messing with nature or something, battles happen, Alan discovers that Doritohead is a bad guy and Zygarde gets controlled/calmed down, but sets the events of the next movie (and games?) where it goes Mega and causes chaos because it thinks humans are a thread for nature until Ash and muh friendship ends the conflict.

New Super Mystery Dungeon details emerge.
From Serebii:
The first images from CoroCoro have leaked and have revealed some further details about Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. These images showcase the Mega Evolution feature in the game as well as details on various smaller characters. We're currently in the process of translating so keep checking back.
Mega Evolutions are capable of breaking through the Dungeon walls. There are new items called Lapis and Ringle. The Ringle is a hold item which has Lapis put into it. Lapis can only be found in dungeons and disappear when you leave the dungeon. An example is the Power Up Lapis which increases your Pokémon's strength and Protect Up reduces damage received and Barrage Protect protects you from multiple hits in a turn.
