Why would you want them removed in the first place? The pains of them growing in usually is far less painful and complex than getting them removed, and I see no other reason to get rid of them.

Honestly, it'd be awesome to play as him again. He'd fit right into the Modern engine quite well. Especially if they made him a little different from Sonic. Like, say, no boost, but a more instant Homing Attack and a bit more power overall towards his moves(meaning he doesn't have to do multiple homing attacks), or at least his natural speed is higher. In 06, they had him do combo attacks after successfully homing attack a large enemy.

This. Playing the games does not mean you should be associated with the "typical" fanbase. Frankly, if people make assumptions about you, correct them.

I won't lie, I found Shadow really fun to play as in his appearances. While I didn't get to play as him in Black Knight yet, I did enjoy him in Adventure 2, Heroes, Shadow, Battle, and 06. They all made him really fun and unique, bar Adventure 2, of course. I haven't played as him in Rivals yet, but the game doesn't have really unique gameplay for other characters, soooooo...

I can't remember if I played as him in Riders. Riders is an odd game, and much like Mario Kart, there's only 3 general playstyles. That said, I do prefer to play as Shadow when he's not cloned gameplay. Not to say he's an exact duplicate in the Dreamcast saga(due to different stages or different power-ups/abilities, he is a little changed. Heroes and Adventure 2 doesn't let you much feel the major differences between him and Sonic when possible. His own game helps that, although ironically all the other playable characters are just basically clones of Shadow, or Sonic, if you will. I don't mind for the speed ones, but Omega, Rouge, and Vector are kind of weird when you're using a Homing Attack with 'em). 06, I will admit, has everybody play differently in some way. A few abilities are shared, but they're mixed and matched. This is a good thing too.

When I tried searching for it, I found well over 50 unique OC's. Some better designed than others(simple recolors are meh, but some are simply well-designed as is, despite being a reused species. But let's be honest, quite a few might as well be OC's in the Sonic Universe. Silver is basically just Sonic with a new paint job and squid-like hair. Shadow is a recolored Super Sonic without the aura. Amy is the most unique design in comparison, and not just cause she's female).

Yeah, you know your designs are similar when a character being mistaken for another(in SA2) is a believable plot point from the player's perspective. But among the animal characters I'd say Vector is probably the most unique, but that's because he's a f***ing crocodile, lol.

I found someone's random OC who happened to be named the same as me. Except that character was female(I'm male) and uh, the title was "Petite [my name]" O.o pretty weird.

I'd rather we not. There's plenty of ways to make Shadow stand out without compromising the remaining respect people have for the character.

I mean he's got Chaos powers, all the abilities Sonic currently isn't using like the Blue/Black Tornado, and vehicles, I don't see why we need to forsake Sonic's return to a mostly lighthearted tone by giving the probably second most popular character a deadly real world weapon.

I always mistake Callie for Marie and so on, the names and their designs seem to oppositely match each other. The pink one should've been called Marie and the green one should've been called Callie.
