I know this has probably been brought up to death already, but still...I just spent the last hour or so watching people's live reactions to Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta's reveals, and seeing everyone freaking out and just so genuinely excited was amazing. Reminds me of those reveals from earlier E3's, such as Melee and Twilight Princess. It hells that these characters weren't leaked prior.
But watching these reveals and reactions, it really hut me just how special and insane (in a good way) this game has become.
58 characters, and what other game will you find Mario, Link, Mega Man, Sonic, Pac-man, Ryu, Cloud, now Bayonetta....among all of the iconic Nintendo characters? It just feels so surreal to be apart of this, and to see this not just as a Nintendo fan but as a video game fan in general. I'm sure even people who have pretty much never touched a Nintendo console can appreciate the scope of this game. Fanservice to the max, and I love every bit of it.
Another funny side note, all three of these recently revealed characters are huge surprises, not just because they weren't leaked but because all 3 had pretty decent and logical reasons for us to doubt their inclusion. Bayonetta obviously had the "too sexual" controversy. Cloud, as a 3rd-party rep, of Square Enix no less, also didn't seem as likely as many other characters. It would be understandable for many people to doubt him in other words. And Corrin could have been doubted due to an abundance of Fire Emblem characters. Maybe not doubted, but I don't recall seeing too many people really talking about or considering him. Maybe I'm wrong.
It might sound silly, but I am so grateful for this game. I played it every day, as a small child with my brother and dad back on the N64, and loved it then. To see it grow from that to now this massive game representing and appreciating all the generations...is just amazing. I just cannot begin to describe this feeling...
If anyone actually read this whole thing, thank you.
And merry Christmas to all!
