It would feel weird indeed, a Wii U/3DS would be "draw a line that crosses safetly though the bullet hell" or something like that, a spin-off fighting game could work tho

If you're looking for good console bullet hells I'd recommend the non-runner BIT.TRIP games.

Cloud is the second most downloaded character there (Shadow the Edgy is 1st)

Some of the most infamous and brutal bullet hell games are for arcades, which isn't that different from consoles nowadays, and that doesn't seem to cause problems for people.

Also I've played a whole lot of Ikaruga on the gamecube and I never found the controls to be limiting.

Plus there's stylus controlled stuff like Knights in the Nightmare on DS if you want obscenely fine control made easy.

Never played Touhou myself though, is there something specific about that series compared to other sh'umps that'd make it only work on PC?

Super cool Nintendo Direct! I'm excited to have Cloud as part of the roster, but perhaps more excited for the December announcement.

Maybe we'll be getting some Golden Sun rep? Heck, you could even just make the different adepts separate costumes and an "adept" character, I don't even care.

Only if you don't count Kingdom Hearts or other spinoff things. I'm sure he's appeared in those on Nintendo platforms.

All I can think of about these third party characters is if they'll appear on Smash 5 too. I would hate to lose them like we lost Snake (even if I'm kind of sure now that he'll reappear in December).

I really want Smash Bros. to transition from "Nintendo party" to "Videogame party".

I'm pretty hyped for Cloud. Honestly smash speculation with it's rigid rules and all isn't very accurate since character selection is much more complicated and diverse than that, so it doesn't bother me if we get a character that defies these very own laws. I actually haven't played FFVII personally but I did play Kingdom Hearts and Cloud is pretty great there so overall I'm looking forward to him.

I'm assuming the main reason Cloud is in the spotlight is because of the FFVII remake, he's increasingly relevant now and it'd be smart to take advantage of it.

It's funny, on some videos, people were still salty about Ryu(on top of being salty about Cloud). I mean yeah, Mega Man and Sonic have had WAY more Nintendo appearances. But Ryu's made more than a dozen or so appearences on Nintendo systems all the way from the SNES to the 3DS. And this is coming from a Mega Man main.

Speaking of Cloud, I wasn't even sure he'd make it. He's only have a handful of cameos on Nintendo systems before hand. Still on the other hand, he became Final Fantasy's poster boy. He's also gonna be in that new 3DS game. He does have an interesting moveset so far. Namely the limit breaks.

I'm personally not fond of Cloud myself, but it honestly makes the most sense that it would be him coming to Smash, since he's by far the most popular and well-known character in the franchise. Hopefully he'll get skins for characters like Tera and Cecil and TIDUS.

If it's the final announcement (and considering it's highly unlikely the ballot characters will be ready by December) I expect them to release the newly announced characters right after the Direct and to show the models of the ballot winners. Release dates and corresponding trailers would then show in the following Directs

I really hope that 最後 just means the December broadcast is the last Smash only presentation, and are there any significant comments against Cloud in Smash (I saw someone made petition to take him down), it could just be a minor one, so maybe I shouldn't care about it.

And this reminds me of Screwattacks deathbattle Link vs Cloud, now we can really settle this... IN SMASH!!

I don't care if people think Cloud is a wasted slot. As of late, us underdogs have constantly been disappointed cause we didn't vote for characters like KKR, Dixie and Wolf, and instead casted our votes into someone who is outlandish in comparison to the top contenders. Like in my case, Young Link. I'm glad Sakurai gave us oddballs a nod with this Cloud reveal, because it is quite simply the most random reveal in Smash History (besides Snake) and he's a character who didn't have much ground previously, but Sakurai ignored that and made it happen. You go, dude.

I'm honestly okay with whoever is next. Cloud alone has savored my appetite, and even if my number one doesn't make it, I'm proud that Sakurai at least put some heart into his entire fanbase, rather then the majority.

It's kind of funny, Cloud is sort of symbolic of when 3rd party developers "turned their back" on Nintendo so to speak, as FFVII on PS1 led to third parties thriving on Nintendo's main competitor, abandoning Nintendo.

In that sense, his inclusion is really meaningful. Smash isn't about console warz and all of that stuff, it's to celebrate gaming as a whole, and Cloud is a gaming icon,
Similarly, I hope Snake comes back now.

The excitement over Cloud is why video game culture is so amazing. Many people ware born way after FF7 came out, and yet they recognise and are excited for him. Same as Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, FF7 has become a classic who's characters will forever be remembered as the pioneers of the new medium. Same with Link and Mario really. The new age has dawned upon us. Age of games.

It was even before. People say "How can they do better next time?", but they will. Smash Bros. 5 will honestly be mindblowing. I truly expect them to pull off something of the calibre of Master Chief. Why the hell not. Microsoft doesn't care.

The best part about all this is that I don't even care at all for Cloud. I don't like Final Fantasy, and I'm not the biggest fan of Cloud's design (even though I'd probably like him a lot more if I liked Final Fantasy VII, probably the same reason why people don't like Shulk, I probably like him because I love Xenoblade Chronicles). And anyway, I'm still absolutely blown away and excatic by his reveal, just for the meaning behind it. Sakurai is going above and beyond, always higher and higher. He doesn't stop. He doesn't care. He's not human.

It is clear that Nintendo is trying to fill the gap they have compared to Microsoft or Sony when it comes to indies.

Shovel Knight in december, I guarantee it.
