QFT. I hope people can remember that when trying to cherrypick posts made by "the smash community."You know, we DO have a lot more Smash players than they have Skullgirls players. By that logic we also have more trolls than they do. Both communities probably have the same ratio of upstanding members:trolls. That being said, the Smash community is so big that our trolls probably outnumber their entire community.
Baloney. That's nothing but a transparent justification of suppressing ideas. You think they have an similar policy against upvoting comments based on ideas, rather than content? If you're not in line with the reddit hivemind, prepare to be buried.

What's this "us" stuff? As far as I know you don't even attend tournaments. All you serve is to misrepresent what we're all about. Myself and other community members such as Lovage & Sheridan are all disagreeing with you on this, you'd be wise to do damage control and stop. If we go through this donation drive and win by losing what makes us so great, we haven't won anything.Not anymore. The skullgirls community has made it abundantly clear they have no intention of being "friends" with us. There's no honor in this.
Well yeah. The gist seems to be that downvotes are intended to be reserved for spam and genuinely objectionable material (personally I'd consider this to only include falsehoods), while upvotes are for anything that contributes to the conversation, regardless of where you stand on the issue. Considering up/down voting makes things more/less visible, I'd say voting because you agree/disagree with the ideas is the true act of suppression.
I wouldn't exactly say that. Fanatiq's stream had plenty of trash talk going on, it just wasn't particularly malicious. Trihex, on the other hand, kept it almost entirely on point about promoting Smash.
Yeah, I'm not 100% what to think of Fanatiq's role in this (mainly because there are some accusations floating around that he's not doing it for anybody except to make himself look better, but I'm not going to bother thinking about this rumor more than I already have), but I do remember him mentioning some typical FGC talking points of why melee can't be considered a competitive game. I definitely do remember seeing lots of "I agree" and stuff like that in the feed chat, but I'll let it slide since as you said, none of it seemed malicious- it looked like it was more to boost hype the same way we boosted hype when they made that rogue tweet.
The guy clearly has an ego and I'm sure this is bolstering that, but it is for a good cause so I'm not going to insinuate anything from it.

These are theories... We have no idea how much money is coming from any particular faction. In fact, most of us don't really care.
Smash wasn't always established either. What we have is an anomaly to the typical fighting game scene that relies heavily on EVO. If a game doesn't make the tournament bill, there's a good chance people will move onto something that did. Given Skull Girl's uncertainty of making EVO, I don't find their smaller pool of dedicated players all that surprising.

I'm seriously getting sick and tired of this damn insulting trash talk you are saying about our community when in the end we have been doing our best to stay nice to you guys in the process. Everything you are spewing out of your mouth is total garbage and I advise that you stop, as it seems that most people on your forum aren't agreeing with your ludicrous statements as well.

I agree, maybe I should of taken it with tough skin. Personally though, this guy does not seem to be trolling, I know exactly that he is being serious. That's why I got up in his case. It could be trolling or it could be not, either way, I couldn't resist. I think I'm done responding to trolls though, it's all fun and games till it gets boring.
Thank you. I didn't want to have the melodramatic episode or rage filled ones that I became famous for lol. If I'm going to respond to someone, it's in a civilized way.
Yup, good times indeed, but all good times must unfortunately come to an end. Then again, if it weren't for those episodes, I wouldn't have met most of you (Prog, GHNeko, etc) and probably wouldn't have picked up smash.
