This is a SINGLES and LOW-TIER Tournament!
RULES
SINGLESRULES
These are 1 vs. 1 matches, best 2 out of 3 matches. Semi-Finals and Finals matches will be best 3 out of 5 matches. The Singles tourney will start AFTER the Low-Tier tourney. This will be a double elimination tournament, which means that if you lose a set, you will be in the tournament. If you lose twice, then you're out for good. Each player will choose their character, then select "Random" for the stage selection. Each game cube must be set on 4 stocks with an 8 minute time limit. All items will be turned off
As far as stages, each game cube must be set on 6 random stages. those stages are:
Battlefield
Dream Land
Final Destination
Fountain of Dreams
Pokemon Stadium
Yoshi's Story
Each person may also "Strike a stage" from random select. that means, for the first match, before you choose random, you can choose a stage that you do NOT want to play on for that match. if you choose random and the random stage was the stage that either one of you chose to strike, reset the match (pause the game, then press L+R+A+Start, or if you're quick, before the match actually starts, you can press L+R+Start) and choose Random again.
If need be, you can request for a "double blind" character selection. to do this, just find 2 random people (preferably someone you do not know) and each person playing will tell those 2 people who they are going to choose. if you cannot find 2 people, you can write down the character you are going to chose on a peice of paper, then after you both choose your character, swap the peices of paper to make sure they chose the character they wrote down. if that does not work either, i'm sure you all can find a way to decide on characters. we're all smart people
After you are done with one match, the loser must first pick one out of the six stages he or she wants, then the winner chooses his/her character, then the loser choses his/her character. If you win on a stage, you cannot pick that stage again if you had already one on it once UNLESS your opponent agrees on it.
Sorry Ice-Climber fans, but NO WOBBLING is allowed.
After all of the money is collected for the Single's tournament, it will be counted up, and given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
The payouts will be:
1st place: 60% of the pot
2nd place: 30% of the pot
3rd place: 10% of the pot
One more thing. If you want to pause the game in the middle of a match, you must ask your opponent to pause the game for you. if you pause the game without any warning, then your opponent can either choose to restart the match or continue. if you pause excessively just to mess up your opponent, that will be an immediate disqualification from the set of matches you were currently playing.
LOW-TIER
Every rule in the low tier tournament will be exactly the same as the Single's rules. the only difference is that you will only be able to pick LOW and BOTTOM-TIER characters! Those characters are:
Link
Luigi
Donkey Kong
Roy
Young Link
Pikachu
Yoshi
Zelda
Mr. Game and Watch
Ness
Bowser
Kirby
Pichu
Mewtwo
If you choose Zelda as your character, you CANNOT transform into Sheik (you transform with Zelda by pressing Down+B). If you do, your opponent may choose to restart that match or continue. if he chooses to continue the match, you must transform back into Zelda before you continue. If you transform into Sheik a second time, that's an immediate forfeit of that match (not the whole set). If it happens a third time, that's an immediate forfeit of the whole set.
IMPORTANT!!!
One VERY important rule that you must follow... DO NOT TOUCH THE EQUIPMENT!!!!!!!!!! This tournament will be held at a karate studio, and there will be karate equipment. If you are seen playing with any of the equipment, as much as i hate to do this, i will have to kick you out of the building, which means you forfeit the singles AND the low-tier tournament. there will also be some things hanged up on the walls, such as pictures and mirrors... YOU BREAK IT, YOU BUY IT. I hope everyone will be mature enough to keep their hands off of the equipment and mirrors.
