Yeah, I'm doubtful of leaks by default. Anonymous, whole pass, etc. doesn't help.

Anyways I've said this before but replace Crash or KOS-MOS with Heavy so we can canonize this thing:

I don't know what that even means, care to explain on why is Luigi and Dedede there?

Unrelated but hey! I found your YouTube channel from a Touhou music video !

I thought about bringing that leak up here then decided against it. It's really not that different than many other 'leaks' that get posted, even if I do think Sephiroth is a bold and ballsy prediction. In the end, even if these are the remaining characters, I think there's still a big chance it could have been lucky. Crash is incredibly common within speculation so his inclusion would likely do nothing for the actual validity of the leak. Reimu and KOS-MOS are getting more popular too, so it could just be seen as pandering to those fans.

And, as the Z zriL said, knowing the rest of the pass puts a rather big target on either his or his source's head. That's not information many people would have at this current moment.

Back around the Terry-Byleth range (I think) there were a bunch of memes about a hypothetical future/alternate timeline Smash games, most of which were slapping a bunch of people together and saying something about Subspace Emissary 2 or the buffs/nerfs of the most recent patches. In this case, apparently Dedede, Luigi, Reimu and Heavy team up to beat the %$#@ out of Sephiroth or something. The meme then got brought back up when Sephiroth actually joined Smash.

That's kinda funny because pretty much exactly a year ago there was another leak involving both Reimu and KOS-MOS. Must be some kind of connection between the two.
that one i believe said Ryu Hayabusa instead of Sephiroth/Crash, and that KOS-MOS was specifically FP5, Hayabusa FP6 and Reimu FP7. plus it was on 4chan instead of 5ch

I do have a good feeling about this leak tbh

I'm still doubtful. 99% of the time leaks turn up fake, and the one that are true are just "Okay the guy that's getting revealed in like 10 minutes is so-and-so." I've got no reason to trust some no-name anonymous person with no credentials to back them up.

Even if I doubt the leak, it does have the kind of tone I can see all of Fighters Pass 2 to have: A mix of very well known, major characters and some more "hardcore" choices to it.

At the very least it feels more realistic than the many lists you see people claim Waluigi/Geno/Doom Guy/Sora/Ryu Hayabusa/Master Chief/Dante/Crash/Insert very big or commonly speculated character in it and just those kinds of characters as the prediction or "Leak".

There's variety here on the off chance this is real.

Speaking of Crash Bandicoot. Crash Bandicoot's circumstances in the late 2010s-early 2020s reminds me of Flandre's circumstances back during the late 2000s-early 2010s. During the late 2000s-early 2010s, Flandre used to be a super well-known 3rd party character, but she began to loose all her fame later. To compare with Crash Bandicoot, he is cultivating a massive amount of fame nowadays.

Interesting. Sephiroth isn't exactly a fringe guess (if this was a leak including a Min-Min prediction I'd be much more impressed) and there's been an absolutely astronomical amount of fake text leaks over the past two years, so on balance the odds of this being true are wildly against it. There's always a few legit leaks lost in the morass, of course, so you never know! But as always, a healthy skepticism is the best approach.

Yeah, this is another reason to be cautious. Any leak which seems like it's simply echoing popular lines of thought or previous narratives in the speculation community probably is just doing that, since roster speculation breeds fairly incestuous prediction patterns.

It's been a long time coming, but Luna Nights drops on the E-shop December 17th! Let's see if it does well, I know I'm gonna double dip. It's worth it for the new content alone!
My friend who has pretty much nothing to do with Touhou randomly bought this game on Steam and absolutely loved it. He told me it gave him a sense of enjoyment no other games have has given him ever since he was a child, lol. Can't wait to play it myself, been waiting hard for the Switch release!

Luna Nights is a heck of a game! I’m excited to replay with the new content. All of the remixes for the OST are gold.

Does anybody actually know if Luna Nights is coming to the american eshop
It's listed on the Japanese eshop right now but nowhere else
it would be an almost stereotypically doujin move if they just threw it up on Japan's eshop and nowhere else, made all the more dumber by the fact that international versions already exist

Thats normal and likely on Nintendos end or the publishers.
When it comes to smaller games they usually have the games on the worldwide stores way later. Itll be online eventually.

I’d be surprised if it didn’t hit the global eshop, seeing as they went to the trouble to release an official English version on Steam NA. Maybe it’s a timezone thing?

I mean, absolute worst case scenario, couldn't you just make an account on your Switch in the Japanese region and buy it thru the Japanese E-shop? Or is this more complicated than I understand.

Either way, I would be flabbergasted if it wasn't released worldwide, it already is on Steam and X-box Live (which, isn't that on Switch anyway?) so I don't se what would make the E-shop so different.

Nah, that definitely works. I have the English version of a SRW game on my Switch through the Hong Kong eShop. Switching accounts can be a hassle, but it's 100% doable. Of course, if you buy the game on the JP shop, it might not have the option for English - not sure how that works.

The mobile roguelike rpg Touhou Dungeon Dive launched today in Japan.
Japanese only of course as well as region-locked like all mobile games without a worldwide release.
You can of course play it via 3rd party storefronts or manual install.

Made a mock-up spirit list of every possible Touhou character that could be added into Smash Bros Ultimate if Reimu were added since the base game.

Feel free to discuss it 😊

Oh! And I also made one for Ace Attorney and Puyo Puyo and I'm planning to post it each in own their respective support thread but it's still under construction.

The majority of the Touhou cast would be better off as assist trophies or spirits, except for Reimu, Marisa, Youmu and Sanae. As far as I know, the rest of the Touhou characters have no place on the roster, mainly because nobody knows them anymore. Simple as that!

I fail to see why the majority of the Touhou cast has no place on the roster, nor do I see how only the four you listed are remembered. Cirno has the memes, the SDM crew shows up in just about every fanwork, heck, Sakuya even stars in a fairly popular fangame that's getting a Switch port this week. Not to be rude, but you seem to have a skewed idea of who's well-known and who's not.

Agreed, even if a Touhou character is obscure, I honestly believe that after Reimu gets introducted in a Smash game the Touhou fandom would go nuts for just about any second rep that gets in. (And to be honest what I've played so far Cirno does have a pretty fun personality so if she ever got into Smash it would be amusing. :))

Not to be rude or complaining, but unfortunately, Remilia, Flandre, Sakuya, Cirno, Alice and few other Touhou characters fall into the same boat as Lilac (Freedom Planet), they remain in obscurity, despite being popular.

Please elaborate. You can't just make bold, absolute statements like "People don't recognize (X)" without being able to back it up.
Don't want to be rude, but I'm still trying to find evidence to prove that Touhou characters are obscure, except for Reimu, Marisa, Youmu, and Sanae. Has anyone found any evidence to prove it?

Y'know, maybe you should've waited until after you found that evidence before you made that statement. Not trying to be rude, it's a legitimate tip. Make sure you can back up your arguments, or they're going to be toppled.

At least in my experience i never knew who Youmu or Sanae were until i started playing the games this year but i knew who Sakuya, Remilia, Flandre, Cirno, Alice were and knew them more than Reimu and Marisa so idk what your saying. (Sorry if my english is bad i'm still trying to improve it).

Okay, Sir, here's some evidence that I've found: I once made a survey, but I can't remember where I posted it. And at least 75% of the voters only knew at least Reimu, Marisa, Youmu, and/or Sanae.

To clarify, what I'm trying to say is that "Reimu, Marisa, Youmu, and Sanae are the only Touhou characters who have enough fame to warrant getting spots on the roster."

yeah, the EoSD cast seem to be the most well-known. Alice isn't a name I was expecting, but given how much she's paired up with Marisa, that might have something to do with it.

Reimu and Marisa yeah sure but Sakuya is more Popular outside the Touhou Fandom than Youmu and Sanae bc of Flowering Night & all the Dio simillarities that made her well known in the Jojo fandom. Cirno has all the memes like Chirumiru and Perfect Math Class so nah i don't believe that they're the only ones with enough "fame" to make it in.
Also since i've been seeing this thread for maybe 4 months now i still don't know why are you so obsessed on ranking characters by how popular they are, i wanted Terry for a long time but he isn't that well known compared to other smash characters, and really who knew Ice Climbers and the Fire Emblem Characters in Melee? Fame doesn't matter the only thing that matters is if the character has a fun and unique moveset.

The other Touhou characters, except for Reimu, Marisa, Youmu, and Sanae, were well-known until the early-mid 2010s.

That's because I'm curious about how the general public reacts to media. And once again, fame (AKA iconicity) ≠ popularity. That's all I can say for now.

... Are we really debating Assist Trophies (when those never get added via DLC) or future roster additions?
Lets not kid ourselves, we are lucky if we get Reimu in the first place. And we also know that Marisa is the Luigi to Reimu like Ken is to Ryu.
But thats just me. In my opinion, Touhou is not as huge as people might wish it to be, so in the greater scope of things we might need to think of minimalistic expectations on how Reimu and Touhou can get into Smash in the first place.

kaithehedgefox kaithehedgefox Also we already discussed and told you about your obessiveness regarding popularity and fame.
The past pages you made yourself look like you have no clue about what you are actually talking about while repeating statements and questions people already answered you. I hope you can be considerate, I have been told its kind of irritating to a lot of people reading or participating this thread.

Anyway, I'm curious about what will happen when Sephiroth releases.

I think I've had enough already.

Also, does anyone remember Seihou Project, it was an obscure fanmade spinoff of the Touhou franchise?

Seihou Project is more of a spiritual successor to Touhou, although Zun did work with Amusement Makers on the soundtrack of one of the games. Heck, the Touhou Wiki isn't sure if Seihou is a part of the Touhou universe even though a few of the characters did make guest appearances in Seihou Project games. I'd love to see an actual Seihou/Touhou crossover game.

I don't think Seihou warrants anything else in Smash besides Vivit getting a spirit.
