Here's some footage that's finally made it's way to YouTube.

I had some good footage of me beating up Chevy's Samus in Winners' Finals and Grand's at a small tournament, but it's been lost to Twitch.

Anyway, as always, critiques are much appreciated.

Man I really like your wave lands/dashes.

I've been really trying putting the hammer down on practicing doing those consistently but I seem to always balls it up at the worst time and get punished lol.
I got L-canceling down and I can wave land/dash but do you have any tips for consistency and how did you get to have them be so "smooth"?

Is it just repetition and practice?

Note: I play on an HDTV which probably does not help me lol.

I learned like 95% of my tech by just practicing it in between stocks. After you get a kill, just spam wavelands or any other tech that you want to work on

ok gotcha'. Still though if that all you did to learn and to be pretty darn good you must have a natural talent for it.

I just play a lot of friendlies.

If you want your wavelands to be longer, you can do completely horizontal wavelands with Ganon. The timing is tighter, but gotta go fast and stuff. Wavelands are easier with Ganon if you're jumping up through a platform rather than falling onto the ground.

Different jumps let you waveland at different times as well. If you full jump backwards, the little backflip Ganon does lets him waveland way earlier than with a normal fulljump. Just mess around with wavelanding more and you'll notice lots of little stuff like that that you can use to speed up your movement.

I'll make a mental note of this thanks. I actually have no trouble doing the wave lands/dashes them selves be it on platforms, ground, falling, rising etc. I just can't do them as consistent as I would like. Sometimes its me messing up the input or being to far from the platform/ground but mostly i want to be able to get the long ones when I want them and the short quick ones when I want those. It seems almost random for me lol.

Also I need to learn how to apply it in a match better. Sometimes I do too little, sometimes too much other times I just mess up the input because 'reasons'... probably me just reading the opponent wrong or trying to use it as a dodge too often.
I'll watch more of your matches (and others) and try to learn when and how to apply it the best.

Thanks for the advice!

omg I've finally got a video of me winning something

vs MadVillany2 (Ike)
lol I DI'd Ike's dthrow wrong every single time
I know which way it sends and how I'm supposed to DI but it still catches me off guard every single time, it's just such a wonky trajectory.

vs Meh (Fox)
Not too experienced in the Fox MU, definitely something I need to study/practice more. Don't think I did too badly though.

Also I need to stop yolo Wiz Footing so much
That last Wiz Foot against MV2 tho

Had a really fun set on stream last week, with a nice cheesy ending to boot

More stuff.

Critiques if you please, yada yada.
that last game, damn. it's like you turned up the super saiyin or something ;x

i think game2 you made a few air-downb shots that were too close to stage and got you gimped, but i'm not sure if you could've recovered otherwise. that's the only big singular incidents that i saw that led directly to you losing stocks.

^ these two guys are the most active good ganon players. others to watch out for would be junebug (who switched to diddy for a while, but i don't know if he's sticking to ganon now) and vex, just off the top of my head.

i was trying to figure out why you were so angry about the link match, it was going so well, then that... last... stock... D :

against peach, you started to pull back the slack once you watched your spacing, so good **** on you! it was a bit late, but you were picking up on the ways to beat that player midmatch!

Vs. Kai (Sonic)

This matchup is fun. So here's what I'm seeing I did wrong: first, and most importantly, I wasn't taking advantage of the positioning that he was essentially giving me for free. Rather than chewing up space when he ran to the edges, I continued to just throw out preemptive moves (which is a TERRIBLE idea against any character with mobility). Next, I challenged when coming down far too often and got grabbed for it several times (which leads into Sonic's biggest punishes). I also figured out that I could net a WizKick for free whenever he began to charge his spin, but ended up pulling the trigger on it too early a couple of times. And I threw out instant b-airs even though they go right over his head.

Other than that obvious stuff, though, what do you guys think I could improve?

can't think of much in terms of critique (you maybe could've used float to set up edgeguards slightly better, but i think there was just one missed edgeguard opportunity), but your use of sh-uair to beat spins was exemplary! need to remember that next time i play against a sonic...

as far as beating the spin dash straight up goes, you can also try flamechoke. iirc, you can grab him out of the attack itself, and it sets up for more damage potential, rather than just throwing him away and potentially just resetting to neutral.

so, you said these are older, but i'll still offer some critique : p
in the zelda match, you wl'd a bit too much when you should have been pressing stage control more, especially when you had zelda offstage. and when you used wl offensively, you always wl-jump-attack. always. mix that up a little, it can get you caught and messed up. near the end, you were also getting predictable with your jump in aerial approaches, but you were also probably not used to using float yet, so not so bad.

against diddy, it's harder to give advice because he looked outclassed in that vid : p it feels like you should edgehog a bit more, but edgeguarding diddy is weird and you seemed to be making it work. i really like your banana play : D i need to just grind out banana skill in training at some point, since pretty much all of our local diddies are top level players, so i wouldn't get to learn too much from that ;x

Peach is tough. I use a lot of Ftilt and rar bair. For edgeguards you can try to read the initial up b and punish with dair but it can get tricky if she can use the drop of the up special.
What. There's no way dair can beat out her upB.

Got a couple matches uploaded that I'd love to get some critique on. Feel like I've hit a bit of a block mentally and am looking to expand. Things that I noticed in these matches generally were several random down-b's in neutral (terrible, stupid habit) and my play noticeably declining as the day went on (I was also TOing, there was little food, and it was hella hot up there, but no johns). Feel free to mute the godawful commentary.

http://youtu.be/Mw_SXrkiSss?t=12m42s (Crew battle, me vs. Egadd, Game and Watch)

I come in at 12:42. This match went pretty ****ty. It was my first of the day and I felt like I played pretty poorly- wasn't able to punish the up-b spam and had trouble figuring out which aerials are good for beating out Game and Watch's lingering hitboxes. I took him to Warioware because I thought I would be able to kill him absurdly early but he confided that its one of his favorite stages and in his opinion one of Gdubs' best. I just had a lot of stupid errors in this match that are easy to see in retrospect, but I still think i play the matchup pretty poorly even when I'm playing well in general.

http://youtu.be/pmxpIq_prjU?t=11m5s (Crew Battle, me vs. Lucario and Link)

I come in at 11:05 and was playing really nervous at the beginning here, since I needed to take 7 stocks or have my crew knocked out of bracket. How viable is CC jab vs Lucario? Unsure if the jab would be a good "get off me" or if the CC would just lock me into pressure.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bLePOgKlrM Winners Semis, Vs. Sheik

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB3oO8NjbGo Losers Finals, Vs. Sheik

Ignore the character switches at the end of these, had played a couple friendlies with this guy and gotten stomped and didnt really feel like getting my Ganon comboed brutally for another one. I watched a couple matches of Junebug vs Sheik and noticed that CC dtilt shuts out a lot of her f-tilt strings and sets her up perfectly to eat a fair or flame choke. I got pretty badly wrecked in these sets so advice would definitely be appreciated.

Trim's DI was so bad it almost made me feel bad for chaingrabbing him. Almost. Felt pretty bad after losing game 1 and that SD but brought it back.

Just having a look at this now and lmao that dair at 0:56, the greeeeeeeeed

I noticed you seem to wait for him to start coming back before trying to edgeguard, which worked out pretty well most of the time actually, but when he's using upB close to stage you can just go out and hit him with anything you want. Works much better.

Also what was up with the couple of times where you just did nothing with your invuln after coming back, you know you got to be pushing that advantage to back him into a corner.

I feel your pain, Baz. Falco's so rough to fight. I got bodied in Loser's Finals, but there are some gems in there, people should look at.

The heck is that commentator smoking.

Also idk how you ended up with Smashville but you shouldn't let Falco take you there.

My knowledge on MUs in PM is so miniscule. I play and adapt to my opponent's playstyle.

I've gotten much better at the MU, though.

Took 5th place tonight at a our weekly. Highest I've ever finished! I don't have anything saved really but here's the "Recent Streams" link of my two matches on stream.

twitch. tv/chattownsmash /b/610817884?t= 3m02s

Both matches happen back-to-back here. My play has come a long, long way over the last couple months. I totally blew the last stock against Who?! in our final game of the set, but overall I feel pretty good about tonight.

EDIT: Don't have 10 posts yet apparently so had to toss in some spaces.

I only watched your first set, so I'm basing this post on that:

First of all, I love your consistency with DACUS. It's quite enviable.
Secondly, this is how I felt watching your Ganon dittos, when one would try to FC while the other AFC'd.

12:52 - LOL! I've never seen a Dair wall spike like that.

One of the biggest things I noticed was that you never attempted to finish the job, once you got'em off the ledge. We have Deadman's Drift. We can hover over, aerial, and safely make it back with out much worry.

Instead of double jumping so much, just hover, and then double jump if necessary. That tool is there for that reason and so much more.

Overall, it was enjoyable to watch, and I think you should've took that set 2-0, though.

I made several flubs during the set, like charging an fsmash game 2
Shame about the flubs but that was a really exciting match! You had some great DI, making sure that you didn't get hit by those knees. Maybe you should consider adding more wavelands on platforms into your style to create more mixups?
