Shine to bair?

This has probably been asked many times but I'm new to the forums and was wondering something with falco.

In many videos, especially the happy feet series, falco will shine -> bair or shine -> dair at very high percentages.

The only way I have been able to recreate this is already holding down for the shine, then IMMEDIATELY smashing up on the joystick and up/back on the C-stick. I cannot get it to work with X or Y.

Is this how they do it? I've also seen the WR's for shine -> bair at something like 550% and the only way I can think if mashing UP for jump =\

or and I still just way too slow at getting to Y?

Thanks

I can shine bair up to ~400% with relative ease

Personally, I just Shine, then jump with Y. As I'm moving out of the shine, I roll the control stick towards whichever direction I wanna bair, and hit A. It's really all timing and practice.

shine
then up on the control stick to jump out of the shine
and c stick for whatever aerial you would like

falco takes 3(4?) frames to jump out of his shine so there might be a slight delay from when you hit up to jump out of the shine to when you hit the c stick for the aerial
if you hit the c stick too soon after you jump then the attack wont register, this is all something youd learn as you messed around
youll feel the timing

you also want to try to hit your opponents head or upper body with the shine
it makes it so you are higher than them when you jump, so you have more of their body to hit

shouldnt take much practice, good luck :]

you have to be in the air for the mega fast shine-aerial. less frames to jump out of shine in the air than a grounded shine.

as for the input, i use up on the control stick and the c stick in the direction i want.

it takes 6 to jump from the ground IIRC its only 1 from the air, meaning you can shine -> bair easier when already in mid-air

also to note its largely considered easier to jump out with up so you can in-put C-stick faster

Assuming you use C-stick to bair:

if you jump with Y/X you have to move from Y/X to c-stick left - kinda awkward path requires you to move in an reverse L shape, meaning your finger has to change direction, it also has to travel further

if you jump with up you only have to move from Down to up which is not far and a perfectly linear motion

i too have always simply shine, jumped with the thumbstick n hit the c-stick. been ablt to get it at +400%, but after watching dashiz vs armada, i've changed it up to sliding my right finger down and shorthopping with y n c-stick with the thumb. i havent mastered it enough to do it in matches yet, but i can do it pretty consistently in free play

Practice until you don't get it wrong. How you do it isn't very crucial as long as the way you do it works for you.

I hold the controller in a way I havn't seen anyone else do. It looks similar to the claw grip for the right hand except I use my middle finger on Z and my ring finger on R with my smallest finger supporting the controller into the palm of my hand. Oh, my thumb is on the C-stick. Anyway.... the point is that you should do whatever you think is the best way for you and practice it until you can do it in your sleep.

I switched from regular grip to what I call the "Trident Grip" or the "Triple Claw". If your considering trying to claw with the right hand it was a very easy switch for me and I don't believe it makes any technique harder to do. Sorry for derailing if I did.

Trident Grip? Triple Claw? Way too nerdy LOL.

Use the stick to jump and C-Stick to Bair.

I always Dair when I try doing that haha, I just jump with Y and it works up to like 150 on Fox for me, which is about as high as is relevant

Im having problems shining after my dairs, I can L-cancel the dairs fine but need someone to further explain how to do it properly. Is there DI involved cuz I just get frustrated and end up just spamming dairs it works just as well. I don't know how to so could someone tell me or make a video tutorial with hand movements on the game cube controller. I know I'm asking a lot but think about how happy I'm going to be when I master it.

If you're just spamming d-airs with L-canceling, that just means you don't have the timing for the shine down right. It's the same problem I have when I do empty SHFFL'd dair > shine with Fox. You're probably doing it too fast. Well, that's if I'm understanding your problem correctly. P:
