In m2k vids I see him ledge hopping, shield breaking, and regrabbing the ledge without needing an up B. Do you just need to be insanely fast to do this because I am having trouble. I'm dropping with down, jumping and doing neutral B. I can't get the regrab. When I try to let go with away instead of down, the neutral B gets reversed. Which way is correct?

Dropping and then jumping using the control stick exclusively seems to help me out with any ledgehop anything really. I can't remember what vids I may have seen this in but is it possible he might be ledge canceling it so as to slide off and regrab. You'd probably notice if he was though so IDK.

Nah he just regrabs the ledge straight up. I can do it now with Y and dropping down. You just kinda slide ur thumb across Y and then B in one motion. It's hard as hell.

if your opponent is expecting a ledgehop aerial and reacts with shield, it's a good way to shrink their shield. but elven's probably right that overall it's not that helpful.

what difference does it make how useful it is or not? If it's useful at all it's worth being able to do...

You can fair to regrab pretty easily. I doubt you'll be breaking anyone's shield with the ledgehop Shield Breaker... and it just seems like you'd be exposing yourself unnecessarily.

@Niko: if something is useful in exactly one situation and that situation is exceptionally rare and on top of that this something is extremely difficult to learn, is it really worth learning to do?

@ Elven: i would be surprised if you broke anyone's shield, but the amount by which an uncharged shield breaker reduces a shield is nothing to scoff at. a smaller shield means more vulnerability...

i'm not going to put in the effort to learn it because i don't think it's useful, i'm just trying to show the ways in which it might be useful.

The point isn't to break their shield though, rather make them change their strategy so you can more safely get up onto the stage.

ledge Frame cancelled B.

this is how m2k pulls of the ledge cancelled B.

you jump on the edge a soon as marth hangs to the edge, position your hands titled away on the control stick.not a noticeable action , very light touch, now now shift your thumb diagonally X--->(glide over(A) and slide to B).

this thumb action also can pull of fox jc shines if your interested.

thats how i always do it with marth anyways.
