shiek an AT? Uhhh... what?

Guy who made WW link make shiek? yeah he worked ok TP too...

shiek and ganon in was a given, this just means that ganon will be somewhat of what he looked like in TP. mabey even gets his sword as a *tweak*

But whats interesting is how the new "TP" themed Shiek is gonna look, much more dark and rugged i'm sure

Well it means G'dorf is confirmed [if you doubted him, chances are you are retarted], and Shiek is either a confirmed AT and trophy, or more than likely character. And btw, he worked on OOT if I do believe so myself, and why would the biggest gaming magazine in the wolrd lie to us=???=bad publisity, and loss of respect.

For Shiek, just imagine graphic enhancement similar to Peach's and Zelda's. Shiek is a more distinct possiblitiy then ever, but don't jump the gun. She could be in the game as either a trophy and/or AT.

Personally I'm more interested in what Aonuma didn't say. He didn't say Young Link, he didn't say WW Link. He didn't say Vaati or Midna or Zant or Tingle. Either he still held back info or the Zelda representation will be less than we thought.

WEll if WW Link is in Brawl, I assume his name will be Young Link, since he is a young Link. And Tingle has no chance, and I didn't find it too odd Midna wasn't mentioned. She could still very well be in the game, and 5 or 6 Zelda reps wouldn't surprise me, though I expect 5. :) This all confuses me!

Slow down, kids. Let's assume this is true, as it is from a reputable source, but recall that Aonuma talked about submitting those character designs. I'm sure someone had to submit a design for the Balloon Fighter for Melee; that doesn't mean it made the final cut. Sakurai undoubtedly began with a large pool of designs, probably more than one per character, and narrowed and refined the list from there, as Aonuma mentioned. Taking into account translation, this tells us little about character inclusion, but much about NCL's involvement with Sora.

To those who say the question is irrelevant and thus the article is fake--GameInformer was digging for us--look at the way they posed the question. They were attempting to weasel information, and it almost worked. Props.
I agree with Pomfrod. Just because designs were submitted, doesn't mean these characters are confirmed. I'm not saying they won't be in Brawl, I'm just saying that this isn't a confirmation.
That does make sense.... at any rate we can't be positive until we see an update proving on eway or another.

My verdict is that this means Sheik is an AT.
It can not be happening that Sheik will be in while WW Link or Midna or whoever else deserves it more, won't.
I refuse to believe that.

I'm hoping for the same, but every man has to make mistakes, and Sakurai's team are but humans. It would suck to indescribable amounts (Midna might very well be my most wanted newcomer) but it is possible, terrifyingly possible in fact, that we get the same Zelda rep as in melee only reworked (Ganny with his sword, YL getting Cellshaded looks, and Zelda being Sheik too) and no real newcomers.

...Man, and I was so happy today with the update too, and now I'm feeling all down again seeing that shadow gliding over the game.

Well I'm pretty sure Aonuma SORTA knows what he's doing. Most of those characters are would be newcomers, so Aonuma would never release that sort of info. Young Link is a clone who might be removed so he wouldn't say anything about him either.

Since this is TP Zelda Sheik will either an AT or Zelda's Final Smash. Maybe Aokuma has learned mindgaming from Sakurai!

Okay, okay, no overreacting now.
Sheik would be a horrible stain for the original if still kept part of Zelda's moveset, but with a revised, fair moveset, it can be lived with.

I finally decided to, like, actually read the interview ( I was kind of in a hurry earlier... )... and the interviewer specifically asks for Sheik and Ganondorf.
It's only natural that he wouldn't reply like "Oh, oh, oh, and we totally worked on Midna and the young Link from Wind Waker and it's so awesome, we gave him his pyjama outfit too and it's so cute you know!"
Yeah... other characters aren't ruled out by this at all.

EDIT: Yeah, I actually thought Sheik could be a Final Smash.. with a powered up moveset. It could make sense for Zelda to call upon the spirit of her predecessor to lend her strength...

I'm not going to give a major response, but I want to say this...

I'm sick of hearing all of this "deserving" crap thrown around for no specific reason.

Why does any character deserve more than another? Why does a character such as Midna desrve to get in? If it'a about some important role in a specific game, I really don't want to hear it.

Nothing has to do with smash bros., It's a freakin' fan service.

Ahywho, I hope that this is true so that the Anti-Shiek people shut up. There's going to be cheap characters regaurdless, so I can't see why people are complaining.

Why can't Sheik be in along with WW Link and Midna? Aonouma wasn't asked about WW Link or Midna, so he had no reason to discuss them...EDIT: Oh, nevermind.

I call bull****.

1) Why would there be a question about Brawl.... IN A ZELDA PHANTOM HOURGLASS INTERVIEW. The way it's asked out of no where and being really off-topic seems really fishy..,

2) Why would he leak info on characters that haven't been announced Sakurai, the actual developer, out of no where? If this was real, he would have said something like "It's not up to me to answer that question. just wait and see," or something along those lines.

I actually said "deserves"? ****, my bad. I don't like that term, either.
Although it might actually apply to Sheik well. Sheik is not even a character, but just a disguise. Characters don't really work hard for their famousness, so "deserving" is the wrong term, but I can pretty certainly say that a mere disguise should not be better than the true self of the great princess Zelda, namesake of her own series, in every imaginable way.

If Sheik is in as a transformation and is still miles better than Zelda, it'll be bad on every imaginable level.
If Sheik is in as a transformation and it's a balanced relationship, it's still strange regarding Zelda's redesign.
If Sheik is in as a separate character, whether strong or weak, I can only see it as a sign of weakness from Sakurai because she was only popular as a character due to her strength ( with few exceptions ) and has hardly any other value besides her moveset and to please those who played her in Melee. Other characters are more important and more interesting.

That is all I will say on the subject, I don't want this to become a lengthy argument. It was just a clarification. Also, I apologize to those who actually like Sheik as a character for my harsh words.

I like Sheik as a character, I've always had taste for stories which have girls who dress like men (Mulan is my favorite Disney movie, for example) so the Zelda/Sheik twist is something that I've always liked about OoT. Then they showed up in SSBM and I was excited to use them both at the same time... and... well, you know what happened. I hoped they either discarded Sheik, or balanced them out. Since Sheik is apparently confirmed, I hope she gets SERIOUSLY nerfed.

Why would it be strange if redesign-Zelda had a Sheik transformation? I mean, it's not stranger than the orange-haired blue-eyed Zelda transforming into a blond-haired red-eyed Sheik.

Oh, and why the hell would people spell "his" name as Shiek?

Why WOULDN'T Sheik appear as a fighter with Zelda... I mean, the closest candidate for a Sheik replacement, Zero Suit Samus, relies on an item. Sheik meanwhile is Zelda's Down-B.

Best post in here besides the first one about the interview.

It's annoying as hell to hear everyone go "Oh, now Brawl is ruined cause Sheik is in..", no it isn't, ****, I don't see what's wrong with Sheik in the first place. Sure, Sheiks and Marths were overpowered in melee, according to people here, but that doesn't mean remove them. =\

Characters can be reworked.

As for this interview, awesome. I'm hoping Sheik isn't an AT though, that would be a waste of a good character.

Zelda = Sheik
Thus anyone who says Sheik will be an AT is a moron. That's like saying they will make the Link from Ocarina of Time an AT and have the one from TP Playable. They just won't do it.

The way that they said "Link or Sheik or Gannondorf" was weird. Why would they mention Link and Gannondorf and not Zelda, but Sheik instead? I'm thinking that it was a mix-up between Zelda and Sheik.

I don't. Because the person was asking about Sheik and Ganondorf, not Link and Zelda. Therefore, it makes sense for Aonuma to answer with "Ganondorf, Link, and Sheik". Putting Zelda there, not only wouldn't answer the interviewer's question but, would again not confirm Sheik in any way. Anti-Sheik players will just have to put up and shut up.

I'd say, this is the truth. Sheik and Ganon are in, we probably just won't see them on the site until end August early September.

Shiek being back is no shock since Zelda is also back, Ganondorf however coming back is dumb I think, if CF is in it and Snake aswell then theres a chance all 3 of those characters will play alike and that fails but Snake may be a lot different.

Did it occur to anyone yet that Sheik might be a Final Smash... kinda like Zero Suti Samus and Giga Bowser?

We've already seen how Snake plays for the most part. His neutral A on the ground is punch punch kick and isn't the same as C.Falcon's. Snake also what appears to be his Down A on the ground launches a missle on the foe like Samus' Down A in Melee (with the fire coming out of her arm cannon). We've also seen him throw a grenade, among many of other things we've seen him do in the trailers that make him far different than C. Falcon.

The only reason we had clones in Melee was because of space issues and the time they had left. It was either live without those five clones or keep them. And, IMO, I'm glad Sakurai kept them in.

In the end, we shouldn't have clones this time as we have tons of space more on the disks now. Which is why I think Sakurai mentioned in today's update "Don't worry, this'll all be on one game disk, rest easy!" Signifying that he has enough space to do what he wants and probably wanted to do in Melee.

Concluding there to be no clones this time. Snake can't be a clone with what we've already seen.

Well, it was weird how the interviewer said it, too, it may have been part of the mix up.

This doesn't confirm anything, either, as said earlier.

I don't understand why people think that only one Zelda game can be represented in Smash. If the FE stage represents all FE games, then why can't Zelda represent all Zeldas and Link represent all Links?

I was pretty confident that Sheik would return. Sheik was one of the most popular SSBM characters, and Sakurai seems to pay attention to what the fans want.

I still like the idea of making Young Zelda/Tetra a Zelda/Sheik clone, even though most people probably don't.

SHEIK AND GANON FTW.

I was always scared since the usage of twilight princess' link and zelda. I thought there would be no sheik.

Thank god for that, It's stupid to have WW Link, Young Link and TP Link, You might as well put OOT Link and pixelated link too. -_-

Why have 3 versions of the same *Beep* Character? If any thing make Yong link a alternate costume,

As for Minda in imp form she would need link(wolf) and link is in human from that would be another addition to the multiple links people are suggesting, Minda princess would sound like a good idea.

As for the rest screw them make the ATs

He didn't say anything about Zelda either, so I guess she's not in the game.

i think sheik is gunna make the comeback. i think whats gunna happen is that zeldas gunna be faster, and sheik might have a magic move or two. it wouldnt make sense for zelda to transform if its TP zelda, so theyd have to be seperate standalones.

I agree, a Ganon FS would be awesome. I'm super glad their hinted at, because Ganondorf is one of my favorite videogame characters, and Sheik is fun to play with. Can't wait to see their updated models!
