Im surprised so many people are just abandoning the Shantae train when nothing has happened that actually de-confirms her... Heck, the recent leak is already setting itself up for failure pretty damn quick.

Even if this leak is true, we don't know if this is the full roster. There are several sources saying they all heard incineroar, and others that aren't on this list, one in particular saying 2 fighters are supposed to be revealed in the same trailer, and they could say who as it would give away the source... and here is my imagination on that.

The trailer opens, dark clouds cover the sky, and the head of the evil group raises above the clouds... Medusa, she speaks about finally getting all her revenge, but wants to cherish it. She shrinks down, and we get her gameplay part of the trailer. Then after that, she is standing over a defeated Palutena and others, when a purple dash hits medusa, and knocks her away, its a monkey.... who transforms into Shantae, and then jumps into fight, and we get her gameplay.

Shantae is the final character announced for this game(with medusa being semi clone like same with isabelle) because she is an Inde who rose up and is now among the gaming legends, a true feat, and thats why Sakurai saves her for last.

Agreed. I don't think any character would need to be rescued, especially if they are third-party. For the most part, they likely want to show off how cool these special characters are, rather than making them seem weak or pathetic, which they aren't.

That makes sense, i was just spitballimg this as it goes woth that one rumor from an inside source that we will have a 2 characters in 1 trailer, so a big villian vs a hero seemed good.

Speaking of female characters, one of my pipe dreams for newcomers is Estelle from the Trails series. She could bring something new to the series being the only staff user and is no slouch in the personality department. Unfortunately Trails doesn't have a big presence outside of Japan but with some of Falcom's games being ported to the Switch recently there may be hope for her yet. Well at least I can dream about it.

First, I gotta say I loved a majority of FF10's boss fights. Most of them felt like a fun puzzle to work with. Second, that one ability made me feel like a complete moron when I mega-potion'd Rikku and watched her get insta-killed by my stupidity. That was a moment where I just stared at the screen like an idiot.

Ehhh... on a personal level maybe, but Dark Samus's bid for galactic conquest and ultimate power in Corruption eclipses just about anything that a Metroid villain has ever accomplished. She's no slouch in inflicting emotional torment either.
