Which one? The Nindies blog theory or the "they're running out of characters to show on the website" blog theory? The former I can verify, as I have been checking the source code of the blog every few days. The latter, I don't know about.

So basically, every entry on the Super Smash Blog has a number to state where in chronological order the blog post was posted. There are two instances where this order was broken: the delayed September Nintendo Direct, which skipped a week's worth of blog posts, and refilled them after Isabelle was revealed, along with two missing blog posts from the time of the Nindies showcase in August: Numbers 120 and 121. Those blog posts still haven't been filled. The theory is that there was supposed an Indie-related Smash reveal (probably and hopefully Shantae), but they, for some reason, decided to not go through with it on that day.

Edit: The main reason most of us think they didn't go through with it is that having a Smash reveal would overshadow the actual Indie games meant to be revealed on that day.

You can find the numbers on the Smash Bros website and then, right click and select inspect. Lots of web codes, but you can find Number 120 and 121 with a few others not filled in once you locate it.

Lots of digging if you want proof.

I found the evidence for this part, but I also found some evidence that debunks the whole theory....

As I said that part about the nindie blog theory, I had the idea to check the rest of the posts to make sure that those two posts weren't already done. I ended up finding these numbers that were missing from the posts instead:

So this means that blog posts 120 and 121 are coincidences that just happened to be at the wrong time, meaning the Nindies blog post was at the wrong time, so the Nindies blog theory is dead (I'm sorry for saying it's real right before proving it fake). Given the lack of evidence besides this that pointed towards her being a fighter, specifically, combined with the fact that Bozon talked about an amiibo as if one wasn't planned (and Dark Lord Vergeben (yes I believe him) leaking enough fighters that would definitely take up all remaining non-echo slots), I've come to the conclusion (again) that Shantae is an Assist Trophy. Let's do a better job next game.

Basically, in an interview after the planning stage of Smash Ultimate, he was talking about how he would want an amiibo to work, implying that there was no amiibo currently planned, which would mean she's not a fighter.

Just here to say I'll never give up on the support until either the last piece of DLC is announced or she ends up as an AT. I don't exactly care what leaks have to say and taking them as fact is always gonna seem silly to me, especially with the overabundance of "leaks" this cycle and. Just thinking about the idea of someone risking their job for five seconds of internet fame is the absolute dumbest to me, so yeah.

How does this deconfirm anything? When Bozon was talking about Shantae amiibos, it was clear it was in reference to non-Smash, normal Amiibo ala Shovel Knight. We already know the only real barrier for making your Amiibo line is that you need to produce and distribut them yourself, so unless WF was feeling really cheap, we should be looking at Shantae amiibos right now.
As for the interview you're talking about, it was published in March 2016, but the actual interview took place months before that, shortly after the ballot ended in fact. If you're using that interview as a basis for saying Shantae is deconfirmed I have to tell you that you've got that wrong.
