Phew, just made it back. I had no internet access the last few days because I was visiting Zion. The trip was certainly worth it, and I highly recommend visiting the park to anyone who has not had the chance.
Magi-Fun playing you. You were a very good sport and a nice guy. Keep working on that samus and you should be in good shape, although you might want a secondary since samus has a tough time in certain matchups.
Cdbobo-Great stuff in teams! You pulled out some very nice team combos, especially considering we had never teamed before. Funny stuff in the carride too. You have a lot of very cool doc combos. It was a pleasure meeting and teaming with you.
Rafa-Didn't get to talk much, but funny stuff at the end with hotel mario. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who suffered through actually playing part of the game! Seriously, what was nintendo thinking with CD-I? Awful!!!
Lengeta-Thanks again for driving me and making the car ride a lot of fun. You and Bobo were good company for sure. We didn't get to play much the second day, but I'd have been glad to give you a few pointers (same for anyone else I played). Main thing I noticed was that you played a bit too fancy, which lead to quite a few sd's. I know most people play Falco that way, but the first thing to do is learn to play him slowly and intelligently. Fire lasers and study how your opponent avoids them, and use whatever moves seem to be working. If your opponent finds a counter, switch your strategy accordingly, and do your best to predict what they are thinking and doing. Once you get all that down, then you can speed up a bit more. That isn't to say that technical skill isn't essential (it is!) but once you get the mental aspects down a bit, the technical skill will come with more ease. Also, don't worry if you mess up, because everyone makes mistakes. Even players like KoreanDJ and M2K will mess up, but the largest difference is that when they do, they don't let it get into their heads.
Very cool guy, and I hope you have a good time with brawl when it comes out!
C!Z-Didn't get to talk much on the day of the tournament, but it was fun playing you on Wed. Thanks for driving me to Lengeta's house that day too. Nice Sheik and Marth.
Gojira-Very funny guy. Our matches after the event were a nice ending to a very good tournament. A very nice Bowser indeed. You've got a good sense of humor and it makes it very enjoyable to play against you. I'd say your in good shape with Bowser/Sheik.
RagingAsian-Close match! That is a dangerous Falco. I had to resort to grabing the edge a split second before falco to win that second one, but I wasn't a hundred percent sure I'd grab first. You and C!Z were also a good team.
Laozy-Very cool samus, and a very cool guy. It was kind of lame that we had to play so early in both teams and singles, but you still placed well in both events regardless. I'm glad we had the chance to play on both days, and I'm sure your samus will continue to improve at a rapid rate. Hopefully we'll meet each other again on brawl some day. Oh yeah, and your brother is really good too! Keep practicing with him and you guys will be in great shape. He might be the worlds best young player
FoxTheStampede-Thanks for holding this event. I had a great time. You can do some pretty impressive things with Fox, and it seems very well balanced. Lot of enjoyable matches, and it was very nice meeting you.
PerfectChaos-Whew, those first two matches were really tough! They were both incredibly close. My variety of characters really helped during the second set. Had every match been a sheik ditto, I have a feeling they would have been much closer. I guess its obvious, but your sheik has a lot going for it. Like Gojira, you have a good sense of humor, and it was a lot of fun playing you in the tournament and in the friendlies after. It was also cool that you started out as Pikachu just like me! You should keep playing him in low tiers, because low tier events are bound to still be occuring.
Wow, that went on far too long, but again, it was great meeting all of you. Sorry for people I didn't have a chance to give shoutouts to, but I didn't get to play or talk to everyone. Utah smash scene seems like a great place, and I hope all of you enjoy yourselves and do well in future tournaments to come. Thanks again for being such good company!
