The Technique
So everyone, I have been hiding something from you. My very own advanced tech. I believe Cort had done it before me with CF, I don't know if anyone else has, but I have never seen anyone apply the tech as I have nor have I ever seen Cort actually do it, so, Scarjumping it is. I actually call it Immediate Walljumping (IWJ), not to be confused with Doraki's FD Instant Walljumps, but whatever.
The Scarjumping is only useful on YS. It unfortunately CANNOT be done on Dreamland64, if it can be done with an AR I'd be surprised. I have tried, I have failed. Green Greens allows for walljumps to be done immediately by simply pressing back on the d-pad. Clearly that doesn't work on YS.
SJ is performed by letting go of the ledge, then DIing in towards the stage, then walljumping, saving your DJ. But pressing down will make you fastfall, and away is too difficult to reach the side of the stage without wasting your DJ: there is a trick.
At the ledge if you press c-stick back you let go of the ledge with no backwards DI. So let go of the ledge with cstick away, then as quickly as possible push the DPad towards the stage. Once your character is hugging YS, walljump away. It feels like a dashdance after pressing back on the c-stick.
The first time you try it, I suggest holding DI into the stage all the way to the bottom, then walljumping. That way even if you'll still walljump and have your DJ. Keep doing it faster and faster until you almost really can immediate walljump.
THE CHALLENGE.
Silentwolf, Cactuar, Cort, other technical players: this means you. I wondered how many knees could be done in between a start and an end, both marked by grabbing the ledge of Yoshi's story.
My maximum is 8. My technique is simple, first I SJ to preserve my DJ. I knee 5 times while DIing back towards the stage so that I might walljump again after each. After the fifth, I use my DJ to regain height. This allows me to knee twice more.
I would love to see a video response to this with someone performing 8 knees. I doubt anyone will ever get 9. Good luck gentlemen.
