I'm actually pretty serious about doing this. A lot of people from other regions also wanna see how it ends up. The only tedious thing is somehow reporting matches. I'm guessing the easiest way to do this is to post results of a match you just played on this forum. Basically everyone manages their own ELO on an honor system but needs to post it so we know how many points everyone has. I figured everyone checks this board like 100x a day so it wouldn't be too much of a big deal. I'll could take my time to post updated rankings a few times a week but the sucky part would be people would have to report asap whenever they play a match that matters.

the mechanic is fair
1500 beats 1500 = +16/-16
1500 beats 1800 = +27/-27
1500 beats 1200 = +4/-4
Draw (draws give a small amount of points to the person with less points)

As you can see, a lower rated player can challenge a higher rated player without risking as many points for a loss but instead they have more to gain. In the beginning people will be around the same but as the gap widens it'll become more interesting.

The system also rewards people for being more active and coming out to smashfests which helps everyone out with matchups etc.

1. You will always be San Diego.

2. There are some of us who only go on Fridays. If you come regularly on Fridays and get a decent amount of matches in, I don't think it makes much of a difference.

Before this actually starts, I'd like to echo Jesse's sentiments regarding maintaining a good attitude about these matches. I really doubt this will be a problem for any of us, but no harm in reiterating. I play this game purely for fun, but in my years of playing this game competitively, I am well aware not everyone shares that view. Obviously, no matter what your outlook on this game is, it is, at the end of the day, still just a game and I hope everyone keeps that in mind.

My favorite person to play is for sure Richard cuz I feel he has the same views about playing this game, and we're just always screwing around and stuff. My personal goal while playing him is that if he's not having fun too, I'm doing it wrong I can't force everyone to play the game a certain way, but I just wanna remind everyone to have fun with it. I definitely will

playing for fun is what it's all about. i'd way rather play mid tiers and lower than top. but i have fun nonetheless. i think the only time i'm NOT having fun is against kira since not only is it sheik, but he has the most solid keepaway sheik i've ever played. wait nvm i hate those dam camping foxes who DD all day and just up throw marth also

Since coming to school, I've probably written more words than I've spoken out loud. Much of it has to do with my major, but I'm a pretty quiet guy in general. Also, I don't like talking much to PEOPLE WHO SUCK! =D

MISUNDERSTANDING, but applies as well: I cannot explain doppelganger and I probably shouldn't try. I don't even care that I lost. I lose more than I win. It's that I lost so hard that disappoints me. I sucked more last year. That's probably the only reasonable thing to say.
