SOCOM 2 was the last good SOCOM, SOCOM 3 and on ruined the series. I bought a PS3 just for confrontation and ended up selling the ps3 2 months later.

SOCOM 1 and SOCOM 2 are both in my top 5 games of all time. SOCOM 1 da bes, even with the cheaters it was still an amazing game.

did you play on socombattles or gamebattles espy? that's all that matters yo.

I didn't play on either. I just followed the in-game online clan ladder. Got top 50 at some point or another. I was just a kid in Middle/High School at the time.
I loved SOCOM 2 so much. Countless nights with those friggin' delicious microwaveable burritos, a ton of drink, and a trusty headset.

Then the Code9ers ruined it all.

yeah, online ladder was pretty worthless though with cheaters taking like all the top spots. The first few months of SOCOM 2 the online ladder was somewhat legit, it just showed who played the most. if you were top 25 on gamebattles then that was legit.

and yes I bought the PS3 for SOCOM cuz it was supposed to be hype and bring the series back, but it blows ****. SOCOM 4 is no better, I've seen some gameplay and it's so sluggish and campy. CoD ruined the shooter genre forever.

That actually sounds kinda awesome, but I have a Logic exam the next day that I kinda need to ace.
We'll see. I'm totally down for watching the game.

I think you're blowing it out of proportion, CY. The top 10 or so spots on the clan ladder was just a bunch of cheat teams, as was the top 100 or so single players, but after that point, teams were pretty legit from my experiences. I **** bricks when I fought my first legitimate admiral.

And from watching the trailers, I got the opposite impression. I actually got excited.
I just need to play it for myself.

Oh, and I'd rather blame a combination of games for what shooters have become today.

You've got a point about CoD ruining the shooter genre. I was never able to return to SOCOM.

And Espy, how have shooters become something bad? XD
