big edit:

to sum up the long post I had earlier: I'm learning advanced techs(an I mean like just now starting to learn WD and SHFFl, all that good stuff); looking for people to smash with around this area; my friends suck and never want to play so I don't really get to practice except with level 1 comps. let me know if you want to get some games going, or if you know of some tournaments going on that I could enter just to learn some stuff.

(edited because I looked around in other threads an figured out alot of it anyway.)

Hell yeah dude, you should smash with us sometime.

Also, why is the next tourney on 10/13 now? WTF happened to 9/28 or whatever it was?

Jon if you wanted to Smash you would. Every time you say that we call you and you don't want to Smash with us.

The 9/29 tournament would be waste of time, so I had them move the date. Nobody will really be there because half of Sac will be at SCC.

We should all Smash on Monday, definitely.

Also there is a big tournament in Modesto on Saturday. I'm Greyhounding there. Prize may be a Wii.

I propose we get together on Monday at Jihnsius place, seeing as (besides the fact that i'd like to play 'im again; it's been a while) his place is air-conditioned, he's made the offer, and has been dying to play. Also, a little birdie has told me he's been improving...

Tom if that sounds good maybe you can come over to my place on Monday and pick up me and Delphiki [possibly Jon too]. If you'd rather not go out of your way or have a full car or something I might be able to talk them into lightrail instead.

tc1: If you still feel like smashing Monday and we're still here by the time you get out of school you should come to my house strait from school and come with us. So take your controller with you to school Monday just in case, and try contacting me when you get out.

dnilb: As I understand it, you're a player who's been around this area for a while but didn't know of the other players in the area (or have you moved here recently?). Yeah that happens all the time, but now you're out of the woods! You've found Sac's competitive smashers! *gain 20 points!* Haha, I say that because not everybody even gets that far. A lot of players don't experience or become involved with even local events near them (many even after joining the GSC), commune with the local community's players, or register themselves onto the GSC in the first place. Well I guess that's fine if you're not interested in playing other people; but to play this game, that just wouldn't cut it for me. Anyways, on to my point: I know sometimes advanced tech can be intimidating going into any game where the opponent already has it familiarized. But the glory of any good competitive game is that you can usually always become better; faster; more adept mentally. So you don't always have to worry about winning, instead you can make your priority to continually improve yourself. One thing that may help is the fact that, because ability|experience|skill increases by an exponentially decreasing amount, and you're just starting out, you'll have a very high chance of improving faster than most ahead of you in the same field (dependent on your own adaptability & desire of course). If you're willing & interested to really get into it, I think you'll enjoy it (I know I did. and still do).

...Wow, sorry for my rambling. :chuckle: So do you have a reliable way to get around? You should see if you can make it to Folsom or Rancho Cordova this Monday (or wherever we end up deciding on; it might even be North Highlands, though I think Folsom'll be the most likely place).

Monday should work, just need a time.

Oh, ummm.. I spilled water all over my NGC, fortunately it wasn't on. I unplugged it and set it out to dry, I'm too scared to give it anything less than an entire day before I try it out.

EDIT: I've been doing everything but improving.

I'd say that anyone's welcome at my place tomorrow, but it's a pretty small apartment with only one TV and cube. That said, I'll leave it up to all of you to decide if you want to come over or not.

713 Stafford street #21, Folsom, California, United States, Earth, Solar System, Milky Way Galaxy, Universe, Multiverse (GSC)

916.353.4855 ask for Sean

I have to run some errands around 1PM, so I'd say let's aim for around 4-5PM. I'll give you an exact time later.

finally! everytime I tried to load up this site it kept giving me an error

anyway, thanks for replying drgn.

well i've been playing alot of smash with some friends this weekend and just from this weekend i'm getting a whole lot better at my WD and SHFFL. my main probably is knowing when exactly to put this into my gameplay. I was practicing on level 1 comps and I can get some pretty good combos sometimes, but anytime I play agaisnt humans I tend to freeze up at some points and can't get anything down. but there are some moments where I do get some good combos off an do advanced techs right off the bat. overall I think i'm improving even after just a few days of playing with AT's. playing agaisnt some skilled players would help me out alot though.

on another note: I have always been competitive when playing cause i've always had people around here that would own me till I played enough to beat them. the past week I have realized that I want to really get into competitive play. I even tried to convince my friends to start playing halo2 online and maybe we could get a team together but I think they are already bored with it:ohwell:. (I never was a big halo fan but the MP is alot of fun and even though I barely played it I can destroy all my friends and do quite well online.

(does anyone here do halo tournaments also?)

so with halo3 and brawl on the way i'm really excited to really start getting into competitive gaming.

My only problem is my friends..I seem to be the only one with the urge to do this.

anyway i'm going to end this ramble with this: I need people to practice with that are into doing tournaments and competing!

I should be free tomorrow for smash, I can get a ride from my bro. I just need to know what time.

Wow, well I was just about to post a bigass post, I hit Ctrl+a, Ctrl+c, post, and then got up from the computer. Then I look back to see my browser failed, Delphiki's on the comp, he then clears my clipboard, so no back-up, and it turns out my post didn't go through. Pfft, lame. Well, anyways, smaller post now:

'k, tc1, I sent you my number so check your PMs.

Tom, Narf, since we won't be going to Jihnsius' until 3-4, you guys want to come over to my place 'til then? Narf, I'm on the GSC if you need my address. But if you don't have the GSC and want to come over just ask and I'll give it to you.

dnilb: It's interesting you say something about Halo, the TAG tournaments are going to start running Halo 2 tournaments every 4 weeks too, offset from the SSBM tournaments. Here's the TAG's site. The site is still new and isn't complete yet, but it has most of the important information up. Let me know if you decide to go to one and need more teammates, I was of thinking of looking into it but I don't know many people who play Halo 2; thought it might be fun though.

And about the extra TV, couldn't we just put it in another room or something if we end up not using it? Couldn't hurt to bring a cube too just in case.

I suppose. Go ahead and organize who brings what, I'll just put it somewhere if it doesn't fit anywhere. I'll try to clear some extra space in the living room.

DRGN, ask Delf and/or yourself if you can bring over Metroid Prime 1 and 2 for me to borrow. ;)

EDIT: I think I'm gonna restrict it to you 7: Delf, Drgn, Tomi-X, tc1, SiD, Narf, and dnilb just for the sake of knowing who's going to show up. If anyone else would like to show, let me know and I'll consider.

Narf may be coming with Sevelious. Just a guess, but he usually brings him along.

DRGN will be bringing Metroid Prime 1+2 for Sean, and I teh gas mooneyz für Tomi-X. I'd bring a TV but I accidently left it in Stockton.

Tom get over here now. And will you be able to give us a ride to and fro?

ok i'm just waiting on a ride. it might be around 4-4:30. when is it ok to come over? and what time should I plan on leaving?

edit: DRGN: i'm definetly down for going to the next tournaments for halo2 if you want to get a team together or something.

edit2: also, any time after 4 this week my house is open to smash and if people want to get a team for halo2 together it's open for practice also. just thought I'd throw that out there.

I'm gonna clean up a bit, 4:30 should be a good time.

I'm also thinking we should end around 8, 9 at the latest if people need to wait for rides or whatnot.

When entering the apartment complex there are two entrances into the parking lot. Either of these will take you to the guest parking spaces if you follow them until you see two rows of cars facing eachother, guest parking is the closest row of cars in these two. If this doesn't make sense just look for the two rows of cars and find a parking space that doesn't have a number on it. My door is in the block that is furthest south, the one to the right, last door on the bottom to the left, apartment 21. If you have trouble remembering and/or finding the place, just call 916-353-4855 and I'll meet you out front.
