This coming weekend's StreetGeek is exciting not only because we've added a huge stash of Logitech gear to the prize pool, and not only because nearly 30 prizes will be awarded. Mostly, it's exciting for two reasons: Firstly, it's the start of a whole new University year, so it's an exciting time of the year for many of us! Secondly, we'll be helping to raise just under $1000 for the charity
One Sight. More on that in a minute.
Prizes Prizes Prizes!
Let me tell you about the prizes up for grabs this weekend! Allneeds will be bringing on an awesome door prize as usual: Recently they've donated a WD Blue Edition 1TB HDD, an external NAS enclosure, even an Acer notebook. It remains to be seen what will be on the table this weekend!
We've just added a stack of Logitech gear to the prize pool, which means whatever prize you win, there'll be something that you'll love to choose from! I'm talking Logitech G330 Headset, the G110 Keyboard, the G500 Mouse, and a stack more. The
top 10 players in the PC tournament will be taking home prizes. Tier 1 prize for 1st place, Tier 2 prizes for 2nd and 3rd places, and Tier 3 prizes for places 4 through 10. Each member of the winning CSS team will also select a Tier 3 prize to take home. The
top 5 players in the console tournament, and the
top player in Super Smash Brothers each take home the console game, or Tier 3 PC game of their choice from our prize pool.
OneSight Charity Tournament
This StreetGeek, on the Friday night, the charity OneSight is running
a special tournament to raise money for the good work that they do
around the world. That means a horde of Optometrists and their
business managers will be converging on StreetGeek to duke it out
at FrizbeeMark (weather and lighting permitting) and Worms Reloaded.
There's some epic prizes, including an LCD TV up for grabs, but
that's not the best part: The best part is that they are all
Optometrists and Business Managers, so you guys would have no trouble
at all pwning them to bits and scooping those prizes! Those guys
are all paying $20 for the privilege: after all, it is a
fundraiser. Because you'll already have your StreetGeek ticket,
for you it's only $10 to compete. Now that's a bargain!
Monty Python and/or Dress Like a Geek
The official gimmick for this LAN is Monty Python: Whether you'd like
to celebrate with a funny walk, or a fart in someone's general
direction, there are three Tier 3 prizes that will be awarded to the more
pythonesque among attendees. On a similar note, OneSight is holding
a "Dress Like a Geek" comp. That doesn't sound too hard now does it?
Entry is $2, there are prizes.
StreetGeek X
The next
StreetGeek X special event is coming up over the
weekend of the 30th of April and the 1st of May. Details TBC, but
it looks like pricing will be the same as a regular StreetGeek
event, supermemberships are valid Tickets will be available for
advance purchase from this coming StreetGeek!
Pub Crawl! Pub Crawl! Pub Crawl!
This year we're tying in the pubcrawl with the StreetGeek X
special event. The StreetGeek X Pubcrawl will be held on
Friday May 6th. T-shirts will be (to be confirmed) $15, or $10
when purchased with an SGX LAN ticket.
