It's entirely pointless. Even if Tom Nook could do his own stuff, Sakurai would just make him a clone anyway. If the Animal Crossing rep is the avatar that does almost everything in the game, Tom Nook is a complete waste of time. Nobody gives a crap about Tom Nooks stupid furniture.

Are they really comparable...?

Not really. One of them is a dog with a gun which we already have, and the only other thing he probably does is ride a duck.

On the other hand we have Diskun who can replicate anything from any Famicom Disk System Game.

Kid Icarus: A very popular franchise to warrant a 2nd character, Palutena.
DKC: A very popular franchise to warrant a 3rd character, K. Rool.
Animal Crossing: A very popular franchise to warrant a 2nd character, Tom Nook.
All three of these characters are very popular to be added in Smash.
Isn't Animal Crossing as deserving as other franchises to have a 2nd character.
I do think it wouldn't be the time to add Tom Nook in this installment though, maybe the next installment.

You're exemplifying pretty much everything that's wrong with the idea of Reps. K. Rool and Palutena are wanted by hordes of people all over the world, and are wanted largely on the basis of who they are and what they do, not what icon they would bear or how much dough their series bring in. Tom Nook has a small pocket of fans, but with Villager playable and using pretty much the exact playstyle Tom Nook would, there's virtually no reason to either add or expect him in the game other than on a dream roster. At the very least, he's not remotely comparable to K. Rool or Palutena...seriously.

According to sales, Wii Fit is far more popular than Animal Crossing...what, should we add in the Male Wii Fit Trainer on that basis and then just hope he differentiates himself from the Female Wii Fit Trainer?

The point of a surprise is to be a surprise.
That's why WFT worked; practically no one thought of her.

You bringing up and peddling all these characters takes away any surprise value they would have had. And even then, Kawashima wouldn't be that much of a surprise anyway.

Yeah, that makes sense. Everyone could be expecting characters like Dr. Kawashima, Dr. Lobe, Endless Ocean character, Vince, and few others from casual Nintendo series thanks to WFT.

Actually, considering the focus of male training and female training emphasizing different things, Male Wii Fit Trainer can easily work.

It's like the easiest move potential. But, I guess that doesn't live up to your standards of using a Zapper like Fox (yeah there is already a Dog with a gun btw) and riding a ****ing Duck. OOOOOOOOOHHHHH!!!!! I'm on the edge of my seat right now!!!!!! What's next a frisbee!?!? Cuz he's a dog ya know! Even Diskun could throw Disks instead of frisbees.

Give me something from Duck Hunt Dog that Diskun couldn't replicate, not to mention it'd only add on to the stuff he could already do.

My moveset is about parodying the Duck Hunt gameplay itself and the duties of hunting dogs.

My moveset does not have Duck Hunt Dog using the Zapper. My moveset involves the hunter from the fourth wall (the person playing Duck Hunt) shooting at wherever Duck Hunt Dog points at.... since pointing is one of the duties that hunting dogs perform... This scene is what I had in mind for Duck Hunt Dog pointing fingers...

No, I'm suggesting that Kirby was made worthless because everything Kirby could do Meta Knight was broken at, as well as have more range.

Although I guess that could be a fair assumption.

Also, that the Brawl development team did a piss poor job balancing King Dedede and especially Meta Knight, and they should feel bad.

true no one is going to buy the game solely based on 1 character but if we use your logic then why add Ridley or King.K Rool no one would buy the game for them lets just add some one like Goku
if Goku was added people would buy the game only to play as Goku

I wonder what character would be revealed...considering America loves Mewtwo just/almost as much as Japan, I can see it being Japan and people screaming their heads off over it in excitement. PS: Mewtwo is catchable in X/Y and is officially the only legendary Pokemon too cool to face you when you enter his chamber.

Unless you are referring to Krystal and Waddle Dee's popularity levels in particular, I must say popularity is indeed a factor when it comes to character selection, most notably Pokemon which Sakurai has stated is how he chooses Pokemon characters. Little to no popularity is not the only thing that can keep some characters out.

You shouldn't hype up a character and expect Sakurai to reveal someone when the guy has a mind like a bag of cats. He is unpredictable, did anyone expect Olimar, Luigi, Peach, Toon Link and Sonic to be revealed when they were? I'm expecting another reveal before October's end, and I think it will be a Pokemon, we just can't pinpoint the exact date. You never can.

Did not know that, thanks anyways, I'm expecting Kiddy, too, but I'm wouldn't cut out the 64 characters (even though they might be owned by Rare).

Comic Con was amazing, also, got to play tons of demos, get some souvenirs, and etc.
