True. I think it's less likely then a Square-Enix character in general (Black Mage, Slime, Geno, Sora, the last two are pipe dreams) but otherwise I truly would enjoy seeing some more characters get the spotlight alongside their games. Scribblenauts was almost one of the must-get DS titles, No More Heroes is defined as THE M-rated series for the Wii (although I may be wrong), and Shantae is... Shantae. WayForward has some good stuff (Batman: The Brave and the Bold is a cool game for being a licensed) and they do kind of help Nintendo in ways. I feel that they'd still be likelier than Banjo & Kazooie, Conker or the Battletoads.


But there ARE some certain characters from other companies I'd enjoy. If instead of everyone's fantasy 2nd Sonic rep SEGA opted for Amigo from Samba de Amigo, I would be happy. Arthur from Ghosts N' Goblins would be pretty cool too.


Back on topic, does anybody want to see more casual representation? By that, I mean series that expand into Nintedo's more "fun for the entire family" games, during the DS/Wii era. For instance, Nintendog, Miis and Karate Joe would represent that well.

I hate the idea of blaziken and charizard as stand alone characters due to, you know, starter equality and that they're my least favorite of their respective trios.

Well, Blaziken and Charizard have never filled a role like Grovyle has in PMD2, so yeah.

If it was a generic Grovyle as a standalone character, then I see your point.

Well, I have no idea how it would affect Little Mac's chances until he's confirmed or deconfirmed. I see the stage being directed towards a Punch-Out!!! stage, but I don't think we can have any idea of what the stage is or how it's connected until we see LM.

I wouldn't be wondering about Little Mac's chances, I'd be wondering why the hell you would create a Smash Bros Stage around a boxing ring and NOT have it have something to do with Punch-Out...it makes absolutely no sense.

I'm not sure. Well, looking at it from a designer's standpoint, R.O.B. didn't have a stage in Brawl. Who's to say Little Mac wouldn't? Little Mac, luckily, also has the fact that he was recently revived on the Wii, so those who worry about recency can't say anything here. I'd say it might lower his chances a small bit, but not much.

• I think Diskun would definitely happen if he had some sort of feasible move set. I'd imagine he'd side step and have a few basic attacks similar to Starfy, but I can't think of any special abilities
• Wii Fit Trainer might not be a starter. She's kind of a surprise character which tends to be unlockable. She wasn't shown in the trailer either.
• Dark Samus over Ridley, let alone in the game? I think I see a pig flying past my window

Why not? Sakurai has once added 2 new character from the Kirby franchise, so why not Kid Icarus?

Because Kirby clearly deserves it and needs it more, but if we got a third it'd be Medusa.

I see Lucas as too low-priority.

I don't, it's kind of important to represent this new style of Mother since there are only 2 styles of the game.

Sakurai said the moveset is subject to change.

By which he means if he plans any changes to a character's move set it will be done before programming the old one. Face it, Toad isn't getting in.

It's much better, but has major problems

• There is no Zelda character that will ever get over Toon Link. He's the most important one available after the other 3.
• Krystal over Falco? Don't forget to replace Mario with Frogger. But, seriously Krystal being playable at all is unrealistic. Sakurai doesn't seem to give a **** about Star Fox Adventures and adding in her Staff would be outdated (not to mention she doesn't even have it anymore, she's a pilot like the rest). Krystal is probably the perfect Assist Trophy
• Again, Impa is needlessly complicated and pointless. Why take away a unique feature from Zelda, what may be considered the coolest feature of Zelda. Saying Sheik is outdated is not true because not only are Sheik & Zelda the same person in different clothing, but Sheikahs still appear in Zelda (or rather A sheikah).
• Not only are Brawl Trainer's Pokemon the starters you are given in Pokemon X & Y, but there is even an anime of that trainer. So yeah Kalos Trainer over him makes as much sense as Magikarp over Mewtwo
• Zoroark would be a great addition, but unfortunately Lucario is the hot Pokemon right now and Zoroarl currently doesn't get that much special treatment from Pokemon.
• Toad is deconfirmed, I wouldn't try to convince yourself that there will be a different colored Toad or that he will change his mind. It's not good for your health.
• Pac-Man over Snake I just don't see happening, if you return Sonic then you gotta return Snake. Pac-Man being more iconic doesn't mean anything, he was more iconic during Brawl and still we got Snake.
• I applaud having Medusa, but we probably aren't getting a 3rd KI rep
• Roy over Chrom is very possible

Wii fit trainer is definitely a wtf character thats actually half of the reason why sakurai choose her.

He said nobody would expect her, and said nothing about it being what influenced him to add her

I disagree, if they were going to make a boxing ring stage and not have Little Mac in mind while theming it I highly doubt they would've put that much thought into Little Mac in general.

I'm thinking that if the boxing ring stage ends up being on the 3DS version that it's probably not a Punch-Out stage, seeing how there's never been a handheld Punch-Out game. Luckily there's no sign of it being on the 3DS version.

I look at it this way. Little Mac, if he were to have a stage, would have a boxing ring. That much is given. We already have a ring in the game of undisclosed origin.

Whichever way you look at it the ring will be considered his de facto stage. He would fight there in single player. The only problem really is what symbol will accompany said stage? A Punch Out!! One or the Smash logo? If he's going to be in the game it might as well be considered his and put his franchise to it. It just makes sense.

Little Mac travels the world in his games fighting at various different arenas, though ascetically they're more or less identical. I think the boxing stage is giving a bit of character to what could be a bland stage. If Mac is fighting in a tournament he would do so in a ring and the décor would reflect the organisation that is hosting it.

Considering the commercial and critical success of Fire Emblem Awakening, one would expect more of a presence than just a simple stage. Rather, one would expect a fully-playable character, instead of a simple Assist Trophy. I do believe the series more than warrants itself a newcomer, because if Kid Icarus can, so can Fire Emblem.

Yeah is the only series that I don´t know what to do with it, should I add another Fire Emblem Rep and who should I need to cut to open the space? Thats why I put Roy in DLC XD.

Not bad for a 50 character roster, I see no huge problem that immediately catches my eye. But some of these characters are somewhat expendable if you want to shrink those numbers down a bit. 9.5/10

Also for Chrom: I don't support him specifically but Fire Emblem Awakening has quite a few merits to deserve a rep, like for example: Being the highest selling game and kind of saving the franchise >:3

Well, I feel for, for example, the Pokemon Franchise on the Wii U they would just carry on with the STadium and maybe a Poke Floats 2? Maybe.

It would be easy for that type of franchise. Something like Pikmin... no clue. They could always just bring back distant planet for the 3DS.

I recall IS talking about a possible FE6 remake, but besides fire Roy doesn't exactly stand out. FE6 is better received than Awakening in Japan IIRC though

I'm personally surprised people came to like him when Marth was SOOOO MUCH better in so many ways compared to Roy...especially when they had the same moveset.

I actually agree with you. Chrom has merit based on the game he comes from. Sakurai is definitely cross-promoting Nintendo games. What better way to promote Smash and Fire Emblem by including Chrom (unless there is a sequel or something coming out with Roy) It would be a slap in the face to Fire Emblem fans if he didn't include Chrom.

At the same time, I would prefer Roy. I am more about representing Smash than representing a franchise.
