Giant Toon Link/Classic Link comparison
We're past this, thanks.

well I found them both boring sadly but the only sonic game I ever liked is Sonic Adventure 2 battle so maybe i'm not the best to judge sonic games
Hey, it's your opinion. I like Sonic Adventure 2 Battle as well, but it just hasn't aged that well...

If you find discussions of Classic / Toon Link stupid, why do you choose to create them by saying that you expect Classic Link over Toon Link?
I have no issue with your preference, everybody has a right to say "Hey I'd love to see this character because I like him / her / it". But suggesting that Classic Link, a character who looks more like the regular Link we see in Smash in body type is more likely than the more popular and cartoony-proportioned Toon Link who would be a returning veteren.

I suppose I can try to prove it then.

Link to Classic Link

They share the exact same Sword and Shield, with both designs being EXTREMELY similar (If not the same for the Sword).
Classic Link's tunic is very basic and simple in comparison to Links. They both have leggings and fairly similar boots though. But their body type and general design are just far too similar, it would really just be another case of Young Link.

Link to Toon Link

Toon Link is just very different from Link (Despite this being a beta colored image, it was the only one with a pose with both his Sword and Shield visible). The head, legs, eyes, body type, and shield are remarkably different. We can't also forget that is color scheme and overall style is unique too (With his shirt color normally being a lime green). His overall size and design are very different to the Link we have in SSBWU/3DS. This is why he would make much more sense as a playable character, being a clone or not.

There are far too many people who complain about two Links as it is, but replacing the visibly different one with a more similar looking Link is just begging for trouble (Especially when the previous one is then changed to become Downloadable Content in your roster Hotfeet).
Especially when you suggest that he could use more of his unique items in his moveset when Toon Link not only has more at his disposal, but he also has access to several of Classic Link's as well. Toon Link just is the more logical character choice due to both his veteren status and unique body type in comparison to the already existing Link.
_______________________________________

Another thing I want to touch on is Sylveon. Now I'm not saying that Sylveon isn't likely, but I'm saying that it is a very odd character choice. You say that the Eevee Family is very important to the Pokemon franchise. But if that was the case, why haven't they received anything else other than getting Eevee as a trophy in Melee and Glaceon and Leafeon sharing a trophy in Brawl?

I think we would probably see Sylveon to be a Pokeball Pokemon before being a playable character and I think this would be the logical thing to do. As it seems to be branded as the first Fairy type Pokemon, it makes sense for it to represent Fairy type Pokemon using Moonblast. As Jigglypuff, an already existing playable character, be allowed to utilize the Fairy type moves. It just seems like the better thing to do to me.
Thank You, Friend. And good point on JigglyPuff utilizing Fairy Moves

Btw I came up with this awesome list of Toon Link moves:

Pegasus Boots
Mole Claws
Magnet
Roc's Feather
Deku Leaf
Rope Claw/ Rope Snake
Skull Hammer
Flame Rod
Shovel
Sling Shot Hammer
Gust Jar
Wind Thing (Spirit Tracks)

I think Toon Link should share most of Link's Smash Attaks and his Sword Spin special, while the rest are his own items. Did I mention he own's all of Classic Link's best items.

I don't think moveset potential really matters with a second Link in the case for adding him. Sakurai has shown he doesn't mind having two links with the same basic moveset. Classic Link is also noticeable younger than main Link, so they don't look exactly the same. And both use complete different art styles so I don't think there will be a problem with confusion.

Yes, but his point was Toon Link is also younger and a MUCH more different art style, which is why Toon Link is a better choice. He's more than what Classic Link is. Classic Link can work, but Toon Link works better.

Meh I can see Sakurai do with the child Link like what he did with default Link. Just stick with Toon Link instead of replacing him with another child Link just like how he didn't replace TP Link with SS Link. There is also no reason to replace him with another child Link as there is already a Wind Waker HD in the horizon so recentness has also no effect on him. Plus Toon Link is also much more popular than Classic Link anyway. (At least in Japan)

But that's just my opinion really... >_>

Toon Link is twelve, while Classic Link doesn't have a specified age. He's probably around the same age, the only difference being that he's had more adventures.

If they choose Classic Link, they will choose him based on his merit. Both are worthy second Links. I don't think they necessarily need a more contrasting Link since Classic Link looks noticeable different as well.

Then you don't know the Fire Emblem discussions. Old discussions come back all the time buddy. ;)

but yeah, I'm not a huge fan of this discussion either really.
Doesn't it basically consist of "Fiery Marth returning, Lucina over Marth, Ike not returning, blah blah blah, nobody knows what they're talking about"? I said this before...but it's times like this that make me thankful my favorite Fire Emblem characters are more minor/side characters. I will not mention on account of the fact that they have no chance of being in the game. :p

Nice waste of comment space you've got there. But then again, that's nothing new. :chuckle:

That, and people yelling how Chrom is bland, Lucina should be in becuz female. Lyn and Roy being the only deserving characters and people not getting enough of Anna.

Thank you, same for you my good man. ;)

I like to put Classic Link on my rosters because he's a low risk choice. There's enough of a reason to put him in the game (4 different Zeldas already, and one upcoming game). I think he has a better chance of being a fourth rep over all other Zelda newcomers, although I would call him Young Link in the game. I don't think popularity will affect who Sakurai chooses out of the two possible Links. I think Toon Link is more likely but Classic Link my prediction.

I put Toon Link in my DLC because I think DLC should consist of easy to make character that can sell well (Toon Link is good on both).
Pokemon Trainer
Then Sonic
then Zero Suit Samus.
Pokemon Trainer was my favorite first party reveal just because he is just such a unique and brilliant character. I hope someone comes back with the Pokemon Trainer mechanic at the very least.

Talk about rude. There's a reason why nobody posts evidence I guess, it's because after the time they put it all together they get ignored because the topic has been "passed".

So instead of explaining your counterargument you just decided to ignore my statement completely and make the time I took to write all of that go useless?
Also you obviously didn't even read it all because you didn't even acknowledge my SYLVEON statement at the end the post.

You've lost the respect of some person you'll probably never meet, congrats.

*Sigh* I guess people will always be lost in delusion about Fire Emblem. Oh well, it's not as if we're in for a huge change with the representation.

As for my favorite character...

Dude, my mouth hurts, I don't feel like doing a counterargument while suffering from tooth pain alright? Jeez, touchy much? Especially when we shouldn't have a second Link in the first place. I'm to lazy to read. What's the current topic about?
It's currently up in the air at the moment, we're stuck on a spot between Fire Emblem and...everything else. :p

Probably by the fact of my avatar. Well, I'm the number one Felicia fan in the world, so I don't think that should be accredited to my outlooks on franchises. I always loved Beastkins, they're always interesting. That being said, my favorite LORD is Marth. :p

Edit: ****! Double post.

What is TWEWY exactly?
The World Ends With You.

Has the best character ever created in all of video game history, Yoshiya Kiryu, more commonly known as Joshua. Is the best DS game ever created in all of existence (totally my opinion obv). 3rd best game ever created (falling just under Fire Emblem and SMRPG:LoTS, and ofc this is all opion based). And is just pure epicness (this is fact). If you haven't played played it I highly suggest you do.

The World Ends With You. DS game. Very very low chances. Other Square enix characters have stronger Nintendo ties.
Well if you don't count the stupid spin-offs on phones and all that. It is a Nintendo only game. :p

Oh...that game. I don't even know if the strongest of Square Enix characters have the chance of getting in, since we already know that the third party characters are going to be very scarce in inclusion, and that no SE character as of now is as iconic as MegaMan and as closely tied to Nintendo at the same time.

Maybe I'll grab a ROM of it and play it on an emulator if I have the chance. I'll let you know what I think of it once I get a chance to play it.

Yeah, it's the TWEWY iphone version that makes the game not Nintendo only, considering it's a relatively young game. Love the game though. Have it for the DS. But Sakurai mentions in the Developer Direct that he's not gonna allow just any characters participate from other companies. They need to be in their own class of character, like Mega Man. I think other Square Enix characters have this quality but TWEWY characters unfortunately don't.

I think we shoudl just let Noah tell us the final roster, he seems to know.
I should have known better than to be sucked into a discussion with him...regardless of the outcome. The outcome is he is right.

Anywhooha, veterans eh? Mewtwo, Sonic, Snake, Ike, Lucario, PKMNT. I think they'll all return.
There's an ignore list? Teach me the ways

In an ideal world I'd love to see Square-Enix get a rep but it's unlikely. Unlike most video game companies of a similar size they don't really have a mascot, both in part due to the nature of the games they make and with it being a merger between two companies.

Their flagship franchise, Final Fantasy has no one major protagonist to represent it, they'd have to use a moogle or something which isn't worth it.

In an ideal world we'd get Crono...

I don't think using music is a good example for a character in Super Smash Bros, especially considering pretty much EVERY song in Persona 4 Arena is really good.

My favorite being "A Pure-Hearted Beast", main theme of my main in P4A, Kanji. Gotta love that Guitar and jazzy keyboard mix.

Talking =/= Typing.
Jeez, touchy much? Especially when we shouldn't have a second Link in the first place.
You asked for proof, so I gave you it and then you chose to disregard my input. Of course I would get a little bit angry, wouldn't you? It's not unlike when you found my avatar to irritate you on Youtube and disregarded my statement there, you completely changed the subject and didn't reflect on the statement I made at all.
A Second Link has been previously reported to be considered important by Sakurai, so we do know that we will most likely see one. I just wanted to say that Toon Link makes the most sense to represent that again, especially now with a confirmed timeline for the Zelda franchise, having Link from multiple branches of the Timeline make the most sense.
As for the Sylveon statement...meh, I'm still supporting it. You've got a good angle, but I think it deserves more than that.
I can respect that. I can agree that the Eevee family should be more than just trophies, but I don't think any of them are more playable worthy than Eevee. I'd wait until we have Mewtwo back and then consider adding in Meowth or Eevee. Now just doesn't seem like the right time for any Pokemon other than Mewtwo. Zoroark is close, but I'd rather see her as a Pokeball Pokemon so her Illusion ability could be use to it's fullest potential. It would be hard to implement something that is suppose to trick your opponent into thinking you're something else when everyone can see you choosing your character.

If Squeeenix got a rep, I think the best choice would be to get Black Mage.

I don't know about you, but I've always been a supporter of Rocket Slime.

Black Mage is a close second though.

The most popular non-sony (sorry Cloud and Sephiroth) Square Enix characters would have to be Crono. Although he's not very likely as well.

It's still kind of grating to argue while typing with tooth pain y'know, especially when the numbness starts to wear off. :c

Toon Link and Classic Link are from different parts of the timeline as well, Classic Link from one in which we've yet to see, AKA the part in which the hero actually LOSES to Ganon, which is the timeline which the first Zelda titles take place. Not to mention the Toon Link we have as of now isn't the same Toon Link as the one in the four swords/Minish Cap, it's a single character from a pair of games. The style is there, but having him using weapons from the other timelines is odd to say the least. The color scheme of the four is fine, but making Toon Link use those special items used by Classic Link is kind of strange. Not to mention there's new powers in A Link Between Worlds that we've yet to see in the franchise. Not to mention that Toon Link on the Spirit Tracks stage is a little worrisome for Toon Link supporters, and unless they pull a Tron Bonne on us, I don't know about Toon Link. I'd personally want Wolf Link and Midna first...but that'll never happen. :c

As for the Sylveon thing...it's something that can be taken any way people want it to, but Sylveon looks to have a promising future as a mascot of Gen 6, seeing how it's cute, an Eeveelution where all the eeveelutions are much more popular in Japan than in America, and Japan has a love for liking adorable things, hence why they liked Jigglypuff for the longest time before her popularity tanked worldwide.
