Mario games all have Mario as the main character with often Peach and Bowser in appearance as well, making them Mario. Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Wario games for the most part, while in the Mario universe, are their own settings. DK on his island, Yoshi as Mario's established past, and Wario in Diamond City. You can have those games without Mario and Co. and it'd still feel complete.

Paper Mario is still Mario, with Paper Peach, Paper Bowser, Paper Luigi all still there, with notable lack of a Paper Wario, Paper Donkey Kong, or *the* Paper Yoshi.

That being said, I would count Paper Mario as a 5th Mario rep., much as how Toon Link counts as a 4th Zelda rep. rather than his own "Adult Timeline subseries" rep.

For the record, Dragon means more than "fire-breathing reptile." I use it along the lines of this:

In essence, the true villain's (which may or may not be a dragon itself) underling that acts as their first line of defense/boss battle leading up to the final confrontation. Which the original trio (Twinbellows, Hewdraw and Pandora) played for Medusa.

My point still stands, it could be a giant fire breathing Tingle for all I care. I still wouldn't care much for it as a boss.
Been done to death, and I'd prefer more original (less BOSS = HUGE ENEMY) fights, such as Metal Mario in 64/Melee.
(Ironically, he's Master Hand's original Dragon, lol.)

I'm pretty sure at this point that he hits the like button on anything that isn't a negative comment. Maybe sometimes even then. I like to think my likes are hard to get. Like you gotta earn them, that seeing the "God Robert's Cousin likes this." means you said something pretty damn cool or hilarious. You get to see it on your post and know it's a badge that isn't handed out often, and that makes you one cool mother****er.

I don't like for the sake of liking. I only like things that I like.

I personally think he should have his own series symbol to represent the Paper Mario RPG series.
The same would go for Fawful, who would rep Mario & Luigi.

One thing I've noticed is that some people are now apparently making Luigi a rep of the "Luigi's Mansion" series, and even adding King Boo as a character. Lol.

Luigi's Mansion isn't big enough to be seen as its own spin-off series yet, so Luigi and King Boo should have the main mushroom symbol.

Then again, I think a Pokemon Conquest character (Nobunaga) should have his own series symbol, despite it only being one game.
I think it's because Luigi didn't really start off in Luigi's Mansion; he's been in the main Mario series for a longer time, and still is.
I know Wario and Yoshi still make many appearances in the main Mario games (Wario moreso in the sports games), but...still...

2. I really doubt Kid Icarus will get two new reps. Especially when one of them (Hades) would probably end up as a boss.

Now, imagine that gel was actually cursed and that your precious threads of human hair are now snakes, constantly trying to nip at your thumbs if you so much as bat an eyelash. Poor, poor Medusa has to deal with that feeling all the time. So tell me, in that circumstance, would you honestly feel like having to put up with having to hear that annoying angel's voice in addition to having such inconvenient snake hair? This is in addition to getting constantly hit in the face more than an Underworlder does at a Centurion Bar... Such is the way Smash Bros. functions.

I think she's more deserving as a Kid Icarus character. Although Hades is the true ruler of the underworld and ressurected Medusa, she is more established.

My prediction is that if there is a 3rd Kid Icarus rep (which I doubt will happen.) It will be Medusa and that she may be a semi-clone of Palutena. Also to answer you question I think Medusa would be more fun (I like Hades as much as I liked Captain N's Simon Belmont. Although he is kinda funny)

If you ask me all we will get is Palutena. Adding just ONE Kid Icarus rep is enough to award him for his comeback. I consider Palutena to have A LOT of potential. She's my most wanted rep.

Starfy seems like a questionable choice.

I think with his numerous installments, a western release, move set potential, and a rather recognizable Nintendo character, I consider Starfy one of the most likely

I don't believe Size was mentioned by sir peacock. I think we made it clear downsizing is okay. Mega Shark does it when ever he wants.

Also he is right about having too many 3rd Party reps. Also Tom Nook is not the least bit necessary. What purpose could he possibly serve? I think the fact that Villager is in the game means no other Animal Crossing character will be playable.

To be honest this is actually your best roster, and a real good one at that for sure.

No.
He's not a Pokémon character. He is a 3rd Party character from another series that had a crossover with Pokémon. (The game is literally "Pokémon X Nobunaga's Ambition" in Japan).

That's like saying the "Mario & Sonic Olympics" version of Dr. Eggman can be included as a Mario character.

I'm saying that Villager's (the main character) attacks being attacks that represent the game as a whole is what makes Tom Nook and the attacks you suggested unnecessary. Villager clearly represents Animal Crossing enough. You should leave room for other characters.

So finally got around to making a revamped roster for Sm4sh.

So first of all, let's explain some things about this roster. Essentially it's built with the idea of DLC being possible. but there are some choices I'd like to explain before talking about the DLC characters (which have green boarders) So without DLC, the roster size is 49 characters strong (including transformations and such.)
This roster is also built around the idea of no roster cuts (well Toon Link and Ganondorf are replaced, but I'll get to that.) But I may make a version later with roster cuts, with this being best case scenario of a meaty roster with good DLC. So roster picks

So yeah, explanations

-Isaac
While I initially wrote off Isaac as another sword user that was just getting in the way of my boy Saki, I quickly found out I was wrong after playing Golden Sun. Saki I'd actually see more as a Magic caster that "SOMETIMES" uses his sword, not for the majority of his moves though. Overall Isaac has potential to be one of the most unique newcomers, and that's after seeing the likes of the Villager and Wii Fit Trainer.

-Diddy is reworked to incorporate Dixie
Now this is entirly dependent on if the 3DS version can actually handle the team, but as it was the original intention of Diddy it's entirely possible his moveset has a tag feature similar to the DKC games, the problem I see with this though is that Sakurai actually stated it was an idea for Brawl that got cut, which he generally does not do if he thinks he can still use the idea (refer to ddifferent interviews when asking about characters that were not able to make it in brawl) I however am optimistic, and it would give a cool spin on Diddy. I mostly want this to happen as it gives more room for K.Rool to be a possibility (I feel 4 DK characters would be far too much)

-Each Zelda character design is based around a different game
So this is a kinda odd ball choice, but there have been so many different Zelda games of late, it's a possible way to use each game. Zelda would use her Skyward Sword design, Sheik would use the OOT 3D design, Ganondorf would appear as he does in Windwaker HD, and instead of Toon Link, we get a Link between 2 worlds link. Alternatively, switch Ganondorf to Ganon, and keep Toon Link.While I think this idea is entirely possible, who knows if Sakurai would want to do that. It would however insure we get the best design of each character from Zelda, which would be sick though,

-Ridley
A no brainier at this point, I've wanted him since Melee. Don't give me that size bull crap, Ridley is scary no matter how small he is. Oh, and Metroid needs more reps then Samus, and I'd rather have a sick Space Dragon then Anthony Higgs...

-Palutena
Honestly think she's a shoe-in, Strong Female lead, extremely popular now thanks to Uprising, and could have a very interesting moveset involving her staff and magic. While Palutena may not be gurenteed, I think we are going to get a Kid Icarus rep no matter what.

-Shulk
MonolithSoft is awesome, is first party, and Xenoblade is awesome. While I'd say some reps are going to get in before him due to having series behind them, Shulk could have an awesome movest filled with Swords, techs, Monado, and maybe even a future sight ability.

-Takamaru
Now that Pit has been revived, the next logical step is obviously Link's Brother Takamaru!
If Kid Icarus is to Metroid, Nazo no Murasame Jo is to Zelda.
Takamaru has so much potential it's not even funny, he can use fire, lightning, shurikens, bombs, and of course his trusty sword. I honestly see him as being a faster Link, which sounds great to me.

-Mewtwo Eclair Forme
We probably are not getting classic Mewtwo, at least, unless he is a costume of Mewthree here. I basically see Newtwo as a faster version of Mewtwo, which sounds nice. Of course I could be wrong, and we might just get OG Mewtwo (Which I'm totally cool with being wrong as well). Either way, we are getting some form of Mewtwo cuz of that new movie.

-Chrom
Because I doubt we are getting Roy in the initial roster.

-Simon Belmont
You know you want him, don't lie. After Megaman, Simon is basically my most wanted third party. As third parties are iffy to predict, he's more or less a place holder, and I prefer him over Pac man, so i'm using Simon. Castlevania > Pac-Man any day.

And Finally DLC, the characters I used were more of an example of how DLC could work, but the way Sakurai talked about it, (sighting Fallout 3) I feel like we'd prolly get one large DLC pack. I designed mine in a way of Imports with Saki and Roy, Returning third party legends with Snake and Sonic (as I feel they did not make the initial cut,) and finally the evil dudes, featuring Black Shadow, and K.Rool. As it's just an idea, I picked characters I'd like to see as DLC, but I kinda see the roster boiling down to, lot's of "essential" characters and the DLC consisting of popular, but not as important characters.



So yeah that's where I currently stand, criticism is nice, and for those wondering, Yes, I do plan on making a version of this with a nice unified look like my old roster, this is just beta stage basically.

Yeah but his moves seem to base on his tools he uses in his games than furniture.
Furniture (or rather I would call it the customization side) was the other part in Animal Crossing that was part your experience in the AC games, so far none of Villager's attacks seem to base on it. Tom Nook definitely has a spot for 2nd AC to base his attacks on furniture (including brooms and debt). It would be fun to play with someone who uses furniture to fight.

Yeeeeeeeeh as much as I agree both of those things aren't going to happen, that was harsh and exaggerate. I mean comparing that to an Anime character and a 3rd party with 2 reps?

There are FAR worse rosters. Characters like Sukapon, Classic Link..........

Not to mention Zelda + Impa. I mean the TP styled design of Link is already confirmed, so why do people add SS Zelda and OOT Ganondorf or even Toon Ganondorf??? Not to mention Zelda doesn't transform into Impa, Impa is someone else entirely. And why remove Sheik, people frikin love her.

Alright, it's been a long while since I've posted here, and I thought I'd throw out some feels I have about character chances. Of course, I'm doing it tier style. Before I jump into newcomers, let me start with vets.

Everyone from Brawl will return without a doubt, besides these characters:

Possibly Being cut From Brawl​

Ike, Wolf, Sonic, Snake, Toon Link, Lucario, Pokemon Trainer​

Now, I don't believe all of these characters will be cut. Heck, the only one I'm dead sure on is Snake. But I will say Lucario, and Toon Link are good candidates for cuts. Sonic would be in that group if it wasn't for the fact that Sakurai has already mentioned his sheer popularity once more. Next would be Sonic and Pokemon Trainer. Then least concern would be Wolf, and Ike.​

Now, Newcomer Tiers:​

Best Chances​

Mewtwo, Dixie Kong, Chrom Pac-Man, Miis, Little Mac​

The first three pretty much go without saying IMO. They each have a strong quality going for them. Mewtwo being who he is, the publicity he's recently gotten, Sakurai's comments, his position as an old vet and as popular as he is. Dixie's a once planned character, and a decently popular choice. Chrom is an international character from FE, who's in the latest FE title, and is generally well received (despite what Smashboards would like you to believe). The last three, well, you know.​

Decent Chances​

Roy, King K. Rool, Ridley, Palutena, Shulk, Takamaru​

The first two would be up in the "Best Chances" group if it wasn't for their Franchise counterparts taking precedence IMO. Ridley's here for being a small scale Mewtwo. Palutena, for being a popular choice, Sakurai's baby, and showing up in SSE/Brawl. Shulk kind of beats out all his competition, with Miis/Little Mac being the acceptions in terms of small franchise character. He's pretty popular for how old he is, and seems to be the new "IT BOY" from Nintendo's new star subsidary. Takamaru fits the role of "Retro revived" pretty well, and has a recognizably sized fanbase in both Japan and America.​

50/50 Shot​

Doctor Mario, Krystal, Bowser Junior, Samurai Goroh, Black Shadow, Lucina, Isaac, Toon Zelda / Partner ​

Doc and Toon Link / Partner are like Dixie, but just on a smaller scale. They have an alright sized fanbase, but also seem to be filler material, unlike Dixie. Krystal, Junior, Isaac, Goroh, and BShadow is the all around "Got Everything, just it's up to Sakurai to say yes". Lucina seems to be like the former, just, she has Chrom and Roy in her way.​

Small Chance, but still worth mentioning​
