Samus style: What if Link's new Final Smash had him transform into a wolf at the end (after an attack of some sort). Then you played as Wolf Link in Midna, just like ZSS. Wolf Link could claw, scratch, pounce for A attacks. Midna could use her magic: warp, energy field, hair-hand for special attacks. Wolf Link and Midna Final Smash: Midna extracts the Shadow Crystal from Wolf Link and warps Link away. Midna uses her fused shadows to transform into her fused shadow form and smash everybody with that awesome spear. Once the Fused Shadow form ends, Midna reverts to her true form, and fades away as Link plops back down with a warp portal. Sounds like it would take too much time, but I don't think it would if you think about how quick the little details I described would be.

Its a neat concept, but I doubt they will do something like that. 3 different Links? Im not sure about that

At least I understand that he isn't getting in. It's a shame because he has 10+ games spanning from the NES to N64 era, selling fairly well (at least until the N64) at ~1 million copies per installment. He has much more to do with Nintendo than Snake ever did, and I would even dare say Simon Belmont. Probably not Bomberman, but those are the 3 main people he has to get over, plus being 3rd party, so not in this lifetime.

Well, we have Twilight Princess Link, and this was the main unique concept in Twilight Princess. Link turned into a wolf for puzzles/ combat...anything. It'd be a switch. I don't consider there to be 2 Samuses, or 2 Zeldas. Wolf Link is Twilight Princess Link. Zelda is Sheik. ZSS is Samus. TP Link is not Toon Link. If they added another blond Link in green as a separate slot I'd consider it to be 3 Links, not a swap that occurs after a Final Smash. Did any of us say "yes, finally, a Metroid newcomer!" for Brawl? No, we got Samus, just without her suit. It's like .5 a character.

Yeah no, quote is a nobody compared to the majesty that is goemon and the mystical ninja series which has a dozen games throughout nintenod's history. This game would be lucky to get him, but snake comes first, age before beauty and all.

Honestly i dont think any non japanese third party character would ever be considered (although quote is from a japanese dev, but the point still stands)

Well, didn't think we get another assist character just yet. I can imagine it would suck for fans of Ashley though. I wonder what she'll do exactly though. Also, when do you guys think we'll get another stage shown off for the Wii-U verison? I can't remember the last time we got a new one. I think it was the Mario Galaxy stage right? I wouldn't be too surprised if another one popped up soon.

Nah you can support whomever you want. It's just weird seeing a character like waddle dee have such a passionate support group, that's all. I mean, what would you think if everyone was posting pics of this guy here and talking about how awesome he is and needs to be in smash?

Goombella is better. She's female and ever so slightly more recent than Goombario. Thus more important.

That's a damn nice model. The Assist Trophies look great this time round.

Incidentally, as for the requirements to get picked I think it's fair to say Sakurai just picks whoever the **** he wants. Sometimes popularity of character factors in, sometimes if he has an interesting idea he'll find the character that suits it best.
Ice Climbers are a prime example. That gimmick could of been used just as easily by any game with a 2P option(Or the Baby Mario Brothers if you still wanted hammer wielders).
The only thing that makes it work ever so slightly better with the Climbers is they are climbers, thus the reason they're attached together can be explained via climbing rope.
Note the climbing rope wasn't actually in Ice Climber anyway, but the logic that they'd use one seems to be why they were picked over any other Nintendo duo.
