Ok to get further on the Roy vs Chrom debate, it was Roy who mostly prompted massive interesst in FE6 in Japan as we all knew. And thanks to this succes, Fire Emblem 7 was made and reached Western shores.

I still think Roy owes more respect than many would think. :roypm:
A couple of semi-serious questions on this...

Did Roy do any more than Marth to accomplish this?

Did Roy's game itself have a large influence on this, or was it more of his appearance in Melee?

Does Roy deserve more respect than Ike or any other character that outprioritized him in Brawl?

It was mostly his appearance in Melee. From my PERSONAL EXPERINECE(so take that for what you will), most casual players seem more drawn to Roy than Marth.

I'd kinda rather get an FE4+5 remake.

There's a lot of stuff in both games that's interesting, but also a lot of stuff that needs fixing(*cough*ARDEN*cough*), plus they could use the exposure.
Actually i'd love for them to remake all the FE's they haven't remade already and localize the ones that weren't. (Tharcia pls.... c'mon Japan quit thinking we can't handle hard games :/ )

But yeah that needs fixing. :p

That's because Roy has a tad less of a learning curve then Marth due to the properties of his Sword of Seals and his playstyle is more tailored towards a free for all style instead of 1 vs. 1. Not to mention a typical player won't notice massive differences from the naked eye and simply picks him because of his cheap fire effects.

If I had any say in the matter, I'd cut Ike with no remorse because his character in FE9 and 10 is terrible.

More than Marth..?

No, quite even actually. Marth was the most popular Lord in Japan at the time because Japan loves FE3, like how we love our FE7 and FE9 as our classics. Shadow Dragon did what Roy was supposed to do, so in the end, Marth did more... But Roy's influence in Japan shouldn't be denied. Of course, it's Marth who's more important overall. It's just that in Japan's case, there's also Roy.

I think that FE6's massive succes (and Sakurai himself was even thanked in the credits) did it mostly, however Roy's appearance and popularity in Melee certainly helped! I can't imagine anything else. Smash has an influence period. Look at Diddy Kong in Donkey Kong Country Returns for example, the Rocket Barrels wheren't used yet as an actual ability outside of DK64 (and Mario sports...), and a solo Peanut Popgun is clearly influence from Brawl, not DK64.

Roy doesn't deserve more respect than Ike overall. Ike is easily second to Marth. But to me it seems Roy is third. In Japan, they could be equal but DEFINITELY not the case for our fanbase, in which Ike could actually stand up even to Marth, as they didn't bother giving us FE12 after Shadow Dragon did so poorly.

In which case I'd rank:

Japan:
1) :marth:
2 /3) :ike:& :roypm:

US / EU:
1) :ike:
2) :marth:
3)

4) :roypm:

Too bad this is about how a character plays, not his personality. So yeah Ike isn't going anywhere. He brings alot to smash than most people think.

I'm talking Super Smash Bros. here primate.

Don't know why your so heavily tailored towards being so literally, when that was never a problem to begin with. She's got martial arts, she's got ninja weapons, she's can turn invisible, you can make shields like any other character, she can throw Deku Nuts like any other character, and you can give her a Beam Sword like anyone else. I'm just saying the things you're saying aren't as convincing as you make it out to be.

LYN FOR THE WIN! LYN FOR THE WIN!
As you can plainly see people, Diddy ranks Lyn more important than Roy in the states.
And totally calling "Lyn for the win" as her chant in Smash 4.

Man I love being a Lyn supporter. It makes me feel so fresh and new!

All those things Diddy suggested. Is Impa even well known for using that stuff? It seems pretty obscure and trivial to assume Sakurai would give her this insignificant stuff.

Maybe that's why Ganondorf is still a clone of Captain Falcon.

We don't need Takamaru then, cause apparently he's been redundant since Melee since we had Sheik with Cloaking Device, Beam Sword and throwing Needles instead of ninja stars.

Assuming Ninja Stars are comparable to needles and beam swords are comparable to Samurai Swords that shoot balls of fire.

That's all you guys remember? You don't remember all that stuff she did in Melee?

Wait... SHEIK?!?!
ATTACK!!!!
You do a great impression. I'm actually loving this. Keep it coming.

Hm. I don't know. I don't think Rosalina is well known for beating up people with her Lumas, but it makes for a good moveset. On that note, I hope they do SOMETHING more original with Ganondorf. Or something actually akin to what Ganondorf does.

Most of his moves are okay, I just don't like Warlock Punch and Wizard's Foot.

I don't know, apparently using anything that is a sword or blade of any kind automatically makes you a redundant clone of Marth. /Things I learned from Gamefaqs

What did he give Rosalina? A story book? He went creative with her using abilities she's used in cutscenes mostly.

How different is this from Impa?

Skyward Sword is mostly base of the part with material arts, magical attacks (like Naruto's Resengan), barriers as well as extremely swift movement.
Ocarina of Time is base for her on using ninja weapons, invisibility / shadows (liberty taken cause she's Sage of Shadow) and throwing Deku Nuts to dissapear / attack (it stunned Link at least).
Hyrule Warriors is where she is gonna use that longsword, which is clearly different from Ike's Ragnell cause Ragnell is a two handed sword, wielded in one arm to testify to Ike's strenght. Impa would clearly need both arms to swing her lighter, but longer sword effectively.

Hyrule Warriors can be considered. Why? Insider information, plus Ganondorf's appearance in Melee being based on his Zelda GNC demo appearance (which wasn't even a game in the end).

Read here, Impa uses them.

What are you talking about? Rosalina uses cosmic powers and Luma. She's very well known for that. That wasn't 5 second cut scene material.

Probably by being the exact opposite.

Like Sheik?

He doesn't even use that sword.

Doesn't Impa use them in like EVERY cutscene she's a part of in Ocarina of Time?
I don't know, I was too busy staring at the triangles in her bra. In any event, Deku Nuts are pretty common in the Zelda realms and they really only add to the whole ninja aspect. So I wouldn't be surprised if she did happen to use them in the event of her inclusion. They were common enough to be considered an item in Brawl. So who knows really?

Sheik never did that. Deku Nuts yes. No barriers or magical attacks at all.
Ganon was a late minute addition.
That cutscene was one of the more longer and important ones of Skyward Sword.
