Yet you seem to find the idea of Starly becoming a semi-clone farfetched despite Starly sharing many of Starfy's moves. (while having a few exclusive moves of her own)

Sakurai would "undoubtedly" make Starly an easy semi-clone.

I got a comment on a video today that made me sad:
"they took out Mewtwo to put in lucario and you have both which nullifies why lucario was added in the first place and also not to mention it would be too redundant moveset wise, I hate to disappoint you but Mewtwo is not going to be playable in SSB4 because he was already taken out and we need a brand new character to introduce".

Well it's better than Pac Man, plus I still have Snake and Mega Man. Sure, I won't main Geno, but if he's in, I won't complain about it, just let his fans rejoice. Also, I'm not expecting a 4th 3rd party, but if there is another one, I really don't care who it is, as long as it makes someone happy really.

...Uh, nobody said it didn't count. I just don't think that will absolutely be enough to get Shulk into Smash. Big popularity and 2 games didn't even get Issac into Smash.
You are comparing someone who shares almost no moves with Diddy to someone who is a pallete swap of Starfy with a bow? Seriously??? Logically Dixie would have hair related Smash attacks unlike Diddy, and unlike Diddy she would have Helicopter Hair instead of Rocket Barrel, Bubbles instead of Peanuts, and a Guitar for a Final Smash.
Starly is Pink Starfy. She is pure clone, not semi. I mean really? You're actually comparing Pink Starfy to Dixie Kong and suggesting she be as unique from Starfy as say Wolf??? Her only uniqueness is wall jumping if you're suggesting Sakurai would make a move set based entirely on THAT.

I misunderstood you, then. Your snicker gif post was a little vague to me. I thought you were actually suggesting that Starly would be unique.
I'd be awfully surprised seeing how minor he is, but I wouldn't mind. I'm not expecting a 4th 3rd party anyway.

I think what puts Shulk over the edge into playable territory is the fact that Xenoblade has the potential to become a big thing for Nintendo with the upcoming "X", regardless of whether or not Shulk stars in the game.
At this point (imo) Golden Sun hasn't been on the rise lately, and I don't really think that Golden Sun is going to get too much more than it did in Brawl. Isaac being an Assist Trophy was spot on, but considering the series hasn't generated much else since...
Yeah, they had a third installment, but there has literally been no news on another installment to the series.
I might be a bit biased because I've never played the series, but I just think that Shulk was popular and requested at the right time, is new and from a series that has had no representation otherwise in Smash Bros., and would absolutely spark interest in a series that Sakurai undoubtedly knows about.
Here's how I break it down:
Both have popularity
Both have absolute potential for unique movesets
Aside from this however, there is the fact that if we take Sakurai believing that he only thought Pikmin and Animal Crossing needed a character around Brawl's time, Isaac may be overlooked yet again. Surely Sakurai will review all of his options, as I'm sure any smart developer would do. I just have my doubts with Isaac.
