What chances are there that there won't be any low priority Brawl veteran, but only low priority newcomers, considering that Sakurai wanted to bring back all of the Brawl characters and his statement about there not being as much emphasis on newcomers?

Well it's a possibility. Especially if we use the Forbidden Seven's data to judge it by. Yes; Mewtwo, Roy and Doc didn't make it from Melee to Brawl, but nor did Dixie, Toon Zelda, Toon Shiek(Tetra?) or Pra_Mai(whatever the heck this really was) who were low priority newcomers.

I'm not sure personally if we'll be in that situation again with less development time being put into things like SSE. Although there may be just as big a time sponge going on as we speak that's taking time from the roster.

I don't know if anyone discussed this before but I always believed in the Franchise Slot policy I made up. It basically states that Nintendo franchises of equal importance shall have an equal number of character slots.

So Mario and Pokemon are close to equally important franchises to Nintendo therefor they should have the same amount of character slots. If Mario has 4 character slots, Pokemon has 4 character slots.

I strongly believe this to be the most fair distribution of characters. However if a franchise does not feature many important characters, than it does not have to follow the policy.

I'm not saying your opinion on this wrong but I strongly dissagree with this mentality. Just because pokemon has 5 charecters does NOT by any means automatically mean that Mario should get 5 just because of that, this also applies for the "pokemon can't have 5 slots/charecters if Mario doesent" mentality no franchise should be hindered because Mario is somewhat complete I firmly believe sakurai feels the same way because of the forbidden seven.

Today's picture sucked.

I'm still expecting a character this week. Either tomorrow or Thursday, I'm thinking we're getting Zelda for ALBW. But we've been wrong with Pokémon, so I suppose there really is no telling.

I'm just glad we're getting obvious characters out of the way, and next year will be filled with more obvious but secondary characters, like Dedede, Meta Knight, Wario, etc...

His franchise is kinda dead. That'd be my guess. Though I think he'd be interesting choice nonetheless. If he was added, what design would they go with exactly? He's got a few to choose from.

Also, is the site still acting up a bit for everyone else?

And there are still bigger fish that need to be fried before Sakurai starts frying Golden Sunfish, namely... Murasame Castlefish and Punch Outfish.

If the game releases after E3, I guess they're going to wait to reveal a big 3rd party character like Pac-Man at a big conference like E3.

I'm expecting things to kick off in January, where I hope we're going to get our next character reveals. Presumably after a little year's end break like they had with Brawl.

How do y'all know that Sakurai will reveal more than one character just because it's close to Christmas time?

but seeing how we didn't get anything for pokemon X&Y except Xerneas, I guess anything is possible.

Possibly, that would be a nice late Christmas present to give to fans since any Pokemon veteran would give a sigh of relief. Having said that, that chance depends on if Sakurai decides to take the holiday like he did with pre-Brawl.

I think Ridley and K. Rool would be better revealed in E3 2014. E3 does create the most hype.

I agree with that notion simply because it creates a substantial precedent, there is also the Melee precedent as well. I mean neglecting the premise that 5 Mario characters (Nintendo's biggest franchise) is possible seems fallacious.
