Again, Bomberman is long overdue, more nintendo affiliated, and more requested. Again, not taking this golden opportunity is crazy.
If you think Bomberman is long overdue then you're in denial.

Now, there isn't a scripted rule that we can't have multiple third-party reps from the same company, but that is:
A.) Special treatment to that particular company, which Sakurai has expressed distaste for.
B.) Only for special cases, for characters who are bigger icons and more widely-known. All we have left on the God Tier of known video-game icons not in Smash yet is Pac-Man, then we have the likes of Simon Belmont.

In comparison, if we get another Konami rep, it will be Simon for how well-known he is, and for being more well-known than Bomberman.

I still think there would be more of a possitive uproar if Simon Belmont became playable than Bomberman. When was the last time a Bomberman game caused hype at E3? :p

Granted, I haven't played a lot of Bomberman games, but usually the universe is just about Bomberman, and walls he has to break, and a bunch of random enemy obstacles... Not sure if I'm missing anything.
Castlevania has a rich universe of vastly different characters, enemies, and monsters. Music that's insanely popular and gets tributed everywhere, a unique dark anime artstyle, unique weapons, and great storytelling.

So.. main characters aside, I believe Castlevania contributes FAR FAR more than Bomberman as much as videogame history goes.

I respect Bomberman because it's given me a good ammount of hours of multiplayer fun...
... but in the end it's all just moot because neither will get in over Snake who beats them both COMBINED in terms of popularity.

Konami argument?
If a Konami character is in, it will be Snake again. No reason to replace a 3rd party character with a character from the same company.

I really wish people didn't compare these characters. Simon isn't even on Bomberman's level. He's not even likely at all.

Really? I mean, do you know how influential the Castlevania series is? Many games to this day do take influence from it. And Simon is the poster boy of the franchise, being one of the most prevalent heroes in the series. Many of the games have appeared on Nintendo systems, from the NES to the SNES, N64, and DS. Hell the 3ds game came out not that long ago. The only thing that gives Simon a disadvantage are the multiple characters that got starring roles, and even then, the only one that got really famous are the other Belmonts and Alucard.

If you like Bomberman more, than the more power to you. But to say they aren't on the same level is not a fact. Both have their merits to warrant a decent chance into Smash.

How the hell do you know?

Again, how the hell do you know?

Yeah, Sakurai adds Third-Party characters based on money.
- Because you're always on here going on and on about, "Hey guess what I did at school today! and not too far back there was a "Hey I'm 17! everybody take note!" post.

- Everybody over the age of 30 who gives half a damn about video games knows Castlevania, and everyone under that age is more inclined to really know more about and care more about Bomberman, they grew up with him, and Simon is older than they are.

- I guarantee that Snake, Sonic and Megaman would never have been considered or developed if their respective companies didn't inquire about it and give support in the form of funds to make it happen. And Nintendo can tell Sakurai which of their characters that he should seriously consider, and the choices come down to him. But he probably holds full say over which third parties are worthy. Not to say he'd think Bomberman was ever unworthy.

BLAH BLAH BOMBERMAN BLAH BLAH SIMON BELMONT.
If Sakurai wants he will add Tails,Shadow and Big the cat.
Also...The Waking Dead is cool but more overrated than Charizard.

If it was either Snake returning or Bomberman in the new Smash; which one would you pick?
Bomberman, because I like it more,NO because it's better or more popular or BLAH BLAH.

Guys, Saturn isn't even here anymore.
Don't waste your time.

It's a tough one: For one, I don't think Snake deserves to be in Smash at all, as there are many more important 3rd Party characters to Nintendo. That being said, his moveset is amazing.
Bomberman has many ties to Nintendo, and would have no problem fitting in. He would probably have a similar moveset to Snake.
I'm leaning towards Bomberman, but why replace Snake with someone from the same company?
It's a draw.

Well, I was going to come on here for a bit before I watched a few recorded episodes of Sleepy Hollow, but the current discussion involves two franchises I know next to nothing about.

Did I miss anything?

EDIT: I would definitely keep Snake.

If any third party company were to receive more than one character, it would be Sega, but even that proposition is quite unlikely. The problem that Sakurai has with third party characters is that they detract from the "Nintendo All Star" experience. Frankly, I agree. Third Party characters should be kept to a minimum, and giving one third party company more than a single character is not the route to take.

I admit that although I haven't been too fond of MGS games, I've grown to like Snake as a sorta sterotypical action-movie hero.
And I like his personality a lot. Bomberman kinda lacks in that department... And although Snake uses explosives too, at least has variety in them.

I think I'd go for Snake, but Bomberman wouldn't be that far behind.

As far as Konami/Hudson characters go, this are the priority picks for me:

Simon Belmont
Snake
Bill Rizer
Bomberman
Master Higgins
Goemon

Well, if Bomberman would have a similar explosive-based moveset like Snake as you suggested is possible, it can be argued that a replacement would make sense. The company would have had two characters represented in the franchise and the niche that Snake filled would still be represented.

People arguing whether or not Simon Belmont or Bomberman deserve to be a second Konami character in Smash. Granted, chances are we are only getting Snake. But I'd be fine with either choice. Though on a personal level I'd be more hype for the Vampire Killer.

So, do you guys think that Toon Link's early reveal could possibly mean that we could have another Toon styled character for SSB4?
Like Toon Ganondorf?

Seriously, though. It's possible. The only thing I know for sure is that Toon Characters cannot be out of the question now that Toon Link's back. Hoping for Tetra...

Doubt it. Can't get hyped for the idea of Toon Zelda too much either. Maybe if it was just Tetra, or Vaati then I can get behind the idea. Otherwise, I'm not so interested.

I think its pretty obvious which id choose

Snake easily brings so more to the table, from a huge history of games, its characters, codecs, music, etc, and hes easily konami's biggest star. His series along with castlevania and their soccer games is keeping that company afloat.

----
And as far as another toon character goes, eh i dont want anymore. One alt version of a character that already exists is enough, we dont need to stretch that gimmick any further. The only one id be ok with is toon ganondorf since id rather he be changed in some way then left as leftover falcon bile.

You know, I have a vague suspicion that Ganondorf could be replaced for Toon Ganondorf, but would still be named "Ganondorf".
That way there's TWO Adult Zelda characters, and TWO Toon Zelda characters. (And Toon Ganondorf is massive either way).

Personally, that'd be disappointing. I never liked the WW Ganondorf, despite WW being my favorite Zelda game EVER.

That's odd. O.o

Oh well. I'd love to have any other Ganon that isn't TP.
OoT was more athletic-looking. It's strange that I don't usually talk much about Zelda, but when I do, it's always about designs. XD
