WAI CAN'T I REPLY TO PEOPLE?!?!!?

@Saturn

I don't think it's a company by company basis, but Namco has the best shot at this point over a lot of other companies, and Pac-Man is their most "legendary" character.

I mean really, I think the other three (Sonic, Snake, Mega Man) all fit into that category, and it is rather hard to assimilate too many other characters into that category.

I like Bomberman a lot, but I really don't think he fits in entirely in the grand scheme of things. But I wouldn't care if Bomberman got in as long as Snake stays.

I don't know about everybody,
but most people say that Bomberman is cool, haven't heard anyone say that they didn't want the guy,
most say that they are fine with him
other than him I can't think of anybody else . . .

I have a question.Do you consider Bomberman a legendary videogame character?
He is legendary for me :)

I guess. I wouldn't put him on Mario, Sonic, or Megaman's level, but he is well known enough. But I wouldn't put him as a D-list character. Maybe B or C list, which to me, is still pretty good.

Yeah, I see Bomberman as a classic videogame character, but not quite to the extent of Mario and Mega-Man.
I think lot of people would recognize the grid patterns of the arenas and the cross-shaped bomb blasts.

I'd be fine with him just as long as we got Snake and Simon Belmont as well.

However, I facepalm at anyone who places him before Snake and/or replaces him.

Simon Belmont I guess. Or Arthur from Ghost and Goblins. Or the Contra guys. Other than those three, I'm a bit lost.

I can think of a few others that are kinda possible for Smash, in a sense that they are well known. But would be way better for PS All-Stars.

EDIT: Forgot Ryu Hayabusa too.

I've been thinking.

Sakurai has said, "No one has been cut so far". This would mean that literally no character has been removed. That includes Snake.

IF he is including Snake in here, then he is guaranteed to come back unless there are "complications" with agreements, simply based on contract signing and the other business bull crap.

May just be me, but I really don't think Snake is out.

I think Megaman, Sonic, and Snake are all we will be getting when it comes to third parties this time around. Lloyd, Pac-Man, Professor Layton, Bayonetta, or Wonderful Red are the only others I can possibly see appearing

wonder red's first party, I thought. well, second, at least.

also, I think snake is the most likely to be cut. not that it means anything, because it used to be toon link.

Despite being on a Nintendo console, I think being requested and unique is the only criteria you really need to fit.

Bomberman is awesome and is more deserving to be in Smash than half of the likely Nintendo characters.

That being said, he won't replace Snake. He won't get in over Pac-man, and if we're getting anymore third parties, he has to really fight it out with the two or three only other possibilities. Plus there's all sorts of legal red tape Sakurai would have to deal with to pull him down off the defunct Hudson shelf gathering dust in whoever's attic.

I encourage you to let your imaginations run away with his possible inclusion, and to add him to your rosters. However, don't be upset or even surprised when he never makes it in.

Konami actually owns hudson now, so it would have to go through them and i doubt they would move him in over snake. But after act zero they pretty much snuffed out all the bomb fuses for the little guy, i think he had a few DS games after though but ziltch since.

I really wish people didn't compare these characters. Simon isn't even on Bomberman's level. He's not even likely at all.
I'm not comparing them on an equal footing, just...stating my preferences since both characters were mentioned. I could also say I like Mario, but I like Pokemon more.

...Additionally, you responded to my post the EXACT way I thought you would. And I love predicting things right.

I always feell Sakurai will simply break the unestablished rules and add Bomberman alongside Snake anyway. I feel he deserves it enough as a companion of Nintendo to get that special treatment. He's really overdue.

I love and support Bomberman way more, but you're wrong. Sakurai is easily 20 to 25 years older than you are. Simon resonates with him the way Bomberman resonates with you. He knows the effect and relevancy of each of them to their corresponding time periods, and therefore is a better judge of who makes more sense than you are, (or myself for that matter.) When it comes down to third party characters, I think who the character is in his mind, and how much money said third party company is throwing at him are what really matter.

Walking Dead's on. Don't expect me to respond back for at least an hour. Have fun kids!

How the hell do you know?

Simon resonates with him the way Bomberman resonates with you.
Again, how the hell do you know?

Yeah, Sakurai adds Third-Party characters based on money.

True. I don't think sales matter to him.

I really wish people didn't compare these characters. Simon isn't even on Bomberman's level. He's not even likely at all.
I'm sorry, but that made me laugh. You're exaggerating Simon's unlikeliness.

While Bomberman had a crossover game with Wario and might be more "classic" in general, Castlevania is a classic NES title. The original Bomberman was ported to the NES, but it didn't reach the level of Castlevania.

His series started and became popular on an Nintendo console.
Simon is a little like Mega Man in that regard.
He has a closer relationship with Nintendo than Bomberman, if that counts for anything.

Yeah yeah, I know you'll say something like "but Snake and Sonic didn't start on an Nintendo system", but that's just what I think. Edit: lol, you already said that when I was editing the first time.

Anyway, I highly doubt we're getting a second Konami character, so, uh, yeah.

And yet it has less games on less Nintendo consoles. Not to mention who cares which became more popular on NES? That didn't get Mega Man in over Sonic and Snake.

That and compared to all the other third party potential bomberman's series does not even bring the wealth of assets and potential the likes of which castlevania and megaman do, such as legendary music, characters, etc.

You know Saturn, Simon is actually on the same level as Bomberman: unlikely as hell.

We have Snake. I know Bomberman is technically from Hudson, but they're both Konami, so if we have Snake, there is no point in replacing him with a less iconic third party rep, be it Simon or Bomberman.

I think that, if ANY character breaks the unestablished notion that only one character can be in for each third party company, it should be Simon Belmont as a second Konami character.

More than Bomberman.

That and compared to all the other third party potential bomberman's series does not even bring the wealth of assets and potential the likes of which castlevania and megaman do, such as legendary music, characters, etc.
And yet Simon has less requests and affiliation with Nintendo. You're actually using invalid criteria to support Simon Belmont. Having a second Konami character and not using that oppurtunity to add the long over due and requested Bomberman? Really?

bomberman's cool and all, butt... what about layton?
Layton is good, but I surely wouldn't say he is legendary.
Uhhh.........what???

Yeah, Sakurai adds Third-Party characters based on money.
I'm pretty sure Sakurai is at least close to 40 years old, so he at least had experience with games growing up. That is all I would contest here.

simon's better then bomberman or snake. he's the nintendo belmont, and allucard isn't a belmont I think, but whatever, he's more the sony guy.

and guys, what about layton, what are his chances?

edit: ninja'd about layton. I don't think him personally needs to be too legendary, since isn't his games translated by a branch of nintendo america or something?

Again, Bomberman is long overdue, more nintendo affiliated, and more requested.
Well, "long overdue" is both subjective AND could apply to any classic Nintendo icon. Like Simon Belmont.

More Nintendo affiliated is first off, I think, debatable, and also, I think, irrelevant with Snake on the roster.

More requested...isn't that exaggerated? I mean, I don't do extensive research on who is more requested, but I've done many, many, many roster critiques in the last four years and have seen many, many, many, character requests. Bomberman is pretty rare. I see Belmont more.

How am i using invalid criteria? You dont even know what they would use, just because you say hes long over due doesnt make him a bigger potential character, affiliation with nintendo isnt the only aspect they would look for so dont try to make it look like it adds a great deal. And whats funny is that the nostalgia critic even did two video game confession videos for snake and simon belmont, no bomberman
