Now if there were a newcomer in a picture done that well, then I would be more inclined to believe it.

I think either Roy or Chrom are fantastic choices. However, I think at the end of the day, it depends on who IS wants, and they have plenty of reasons to choose either of them. Roy if his game has a remake coming, or maybe Chrom for Awakening or the new SMT X FE.

Who knows at this point?

In regards to the Roy vs Chrom thing, for the most part since Roy is in Melee and Awakening I'm sure the "young fans" would know who he is and even if they don't that isn't really a good reason to keep him out since i'm sure most of them wouldn't know half of the roster anyways.

That's a good point, but IS pushed for Ike because of requests. Who has more requests. Also if Roy's remake is true you can bet your *** they are pushing for him. Not to mention Sakurai has to comply.

I don't think there will be any good attempts at faking a leak of a newcomer anytime soon, good ones at least, as it would take a huge amount of effort and a lot of knowledge in creating a model and programming to create a new character in Smash, not to mention the graphics would still have to be retextured and altered them to match Smash 4's, also requiring one to look them over very carefully including the stage and the character's texture.

The Mewtwo leak wasn't bad, but there were still a decent amount of inconsistencies that gave it away after a short time.

Sakurai believes its important to represent both young and adult Link. and i agree. Toon Link is still a younger Link and the differentiating art style helps diversify between him and the other link.

This is quite clearly fake. They don't match the art style of the other characters. Instead, they remained in their Brawl art style.

While it's not exactly the greatest, it isn't the worst either, and in fact, some of the roster predictions are held up as commonplace even today (Takamaru, for example). Although Sukapon, Meowth, and Claus are considerably questionable choices to begin with.

This isn't that bad. The main issue (for me at least) is that it includes Meowth and Zoroark, but not Mewtwo or Lucario, and also that Sukapon is present.

I guess you can make this argument if background Rosalina is the cosmic one (or a hologram I guess). Not sure the argument could apply for her if she herself was a background character. I mean at least Toon Link had the excuse of multiple Toon Link's existing so I'm not quite sure that's the same thing.... :/
